The Belgian club had most of the chances, most of the shots and the draw was the least they deserved
at the end of a truly entertaining first leg
Indeed the end was somewhat prolonged, a stoppage time red card for Ghent was checked
David Moyes has been rotating his strong squad throughout this European adventure
He made six changes for the first leg, he's only made three here
Kuypers and Orban loving life and scoring for fun
The former did score last week, the latter was a constant threat
Souffal to deliver for West Ham here, tons around the far post including Zouma
who got up but couldn't keep the header down
Could be a great battle of strength that between Akuma and Antonio.
Meanwhile, Nkoye and Orban at the other end have just clashed.
And Orban has been cautioned for it.
He thought he'd scored the opening goal last week.
And I figure, hell, that's cheaply given away by Paquita.
Orban strong here, just behind Kajpers.
Here's Samwise.
Kajpers!
1-0!
Probably would have been a penalty in a red card anyway.
Could have scored a moment ago, Hugo Kajpers.
But he has again now.
The equaliser at home to West Ham a week ago.
And the opener tonight in this second leg.
West Ham 0-0 Gent.
Paquita here.
This is the pass that did it.
Straight to Hong.
Orban stayed strong.
Tried to flip it round the corner for Kajpers here.
But it reached him in the end because Samwise's shot turned into a pass.
It's probably a good job for Ney Fagher that he didn't keep that out
Tried to shoulder it away
Might well have been a penalty
And a red card anyway
They lost 2-0 in Belgium a week ago to Anderlecht
But they've won it on spot kicks
This is Emerson!
Hard drive, plenty of power behind it
His first save of the night's an important one
Might have been arcing onto the post
It's a crowded six yard line
Look at that
Jared Bowen here curling it in
1-1! Point blank header, Mikhail Antonio
But from that kind of range there's nothing he can do if you're Davey Roath.
Brilliant delivery from Bowen. West Ham level it up again.
This quarterfinal is anyone's.
Great strength as he holds off this up.
from a delivery that good, you get a firm touch on it from that range, it's going in.
Drop here to Declan Rice, shoot, say the fans and he did!
Hard and into the crowd, could have ricocheted anywhere.
Ends up gratefully grabbed by Davy Roche.
Was this heading on target?
May well have been, you know.
Could have been an own goal off Petkowski.
Antonio strong again, Samwise got the ball, few West Ham fans are crying penalty but...
The angle is tight, great chance here!
And Sutekh's hit the bar!
Rice now on the follow-up, couldn't keep it down.
Yes, he's on the slide, but it's a wonderful opportunity for West Ham to take the lead for the first time on the night.
Samwise has gifted it to Rice.
Good ball in from him as well.
Benrahma, Bowen, really strong pressure
from the home side here.
Rove tested again.
Bowen tried to squeeze it in and he nearly did.
Two nearly moments for the Hammers early in this second half, it's another corner.
Peketar again, and Benrama, not for long, too far under pressure from Hong.
Oh, it's surely a handball.
Now Antonio off the post.
It's all go at that goal at the moment.
Play goes on.
The length of the check makes you wonder if he's going to have a look.
He is going to go and have a look, Auro Grinfield.
And I think we know what that means.
West Ham fans hoping and praying that he's going to point to the penalty spot
and the fact that he's coming over to have a look makes you think he will
that freeze frame is pretty damning but
life doesn't happen at that pace
He's kind of slipped, the ball's coming through to Antonio
That's where he's lost his ground and then it's up off his knee
He can't have known about it
What's the signal? The signal is penalty.
Big deep breath for the Brazilian.
Get Nidahiro in the form of Davy Roth.
And it's in from Peketar and West Ham United have come from behind to lead this quarterfinal.
Who knows what next?
It has swung this way and that, but right now it's advantage West Ham.
Still the thick end of 40 minutes to play.
Tried to make Davy Roth move with the stutter step, that didn't work.
But he got it high enough, not saving that.
West Ham tend to sit back and counter anyway with a 2-1 lead in this game 3-2 overall.
I think they'll do it even more.
It's a searching ball, dipped beyond all bounds.
Kestra Montes picks it up.
And suddenly, necessity being the mother of invention, get to playing the football, but
they've given it away. This is what West Ham will be set up for. Pitkoski, dispossessed
and on the floor, here goes Rice. Antonio is with him. Still decked, and Rice! What
a goal from the captain! 60 yards and into the back of the net. The cushion's a comfortable
one now. 3-1 West Ham. All the efforts of their superhero with the armband. He ran and
he still had the composure to finish. Look where he won it, and he took over from Pakatan.
Didn't stop.
Even at the end of a run as long as this, he still had the composure to find a really cool finish as well.
Desart couldn't catch him, he twisted Akuma all over the place and he found the finish.
Dream moment for Declan Rice.
Two goals in three minutes from West Ham United.
Leks scored three goals in Florence to tie up a seemingly all done tie before losing.
Orban going down rather feebly there and the referee rightly not interested at all.
Half an hour or so to play West Ham on another counter-attack here.
Antonio is going to hit this, he's going to hit it into the back of the net.
It's the stuff of dreams, they're blowing bubbles into the semi-final West Ham here.
Three goals in eight minutes, fascinating.
has suddenly been blown apart.
It's another solo effort, not quite the run of rice,
but the finish wasn't bad.
4-1, where has that come from?
a complete capitulation or a stunning comeback as Tam are going to be in a European semi-final
for the second straight season in European competition since he played in a game for
Liverpool. He's on for Antonio here so there's no hat trick for West Ham's number nine but he can
sit back and as much as it's ever possible relax. Here's Bowen trying to make it an even better
night for West Ham. Bowen! He has! Incredible individual goal again!
He's been an absolute star in this European run.
I think he's gonna have to wait though.
Right arm.
Quite a lot's happened in this second half.
given away to Boeing. This is Pachita, Benrama will get there.
Djafoe, substitute on in the first leg, has replaced Dessart in this second half here.
Ings finds Bowen, he wants his goal
Thought he had one a moment ago
Thought he had another good chance there and he did
Maybe we're equal to it this time
been brilliant tonight still running here Jared Bowen what's he got to do to
get himself a goal he's helped make a couple no worries pick this up Jared
Bowen he's ended up shooting from five yards out
West Ham fans are ready to celebrate.
West Ham United in a European semi-final for the second season running and now David Moyes will smile.
you
