So Max Scherzer was ejected from the game for having an illegal substance on his hand.
So let's break down how this all went down.
In the second inning after being checked by the umpires, Scherzer was told to go wash
his hands because his hands were too sticky.
So he went down into the clubhouse, washed his hands, and returned.
In the third inning, he was told that he had to switch gloves because his glove had the
stickiness on it as well.
So he had to go back down into the clubhouse, get a new glove, and return.
In the fourth inning, the umpires once again checked him, and this time, ejected him from
the game because of the level of stickiness on his hands.
Now Scherzer was adamant, he said over and over again, that all it is is rosin and sweat.
What did Phil say after you clearly explained that to him on the field?
He said my hand's too sticky, and I said, I swear on my kid's life, I'm not using anything
else.
This is sweat and rosin.
Sweat and rosin.
I keep saying it over and over, and they touch my hand, they say it's sticky, and I'm like,
yes, it is, because it's sweat and rosin.
Now the umpires, when inspecting his hands, said that it was the stickiest hands that
they have felt in the three years that they have inspected hands.
I don't know how exactly you determined that, but they did say when they touched his hands,
the residue from whatever it was that was on his hands were then on the umpire's hands.
Now rosin is allowed, so you can have rosin.
And when you combine rosin and sweat, you do get a really tacky, sticky feeling.
But you are not supposed to have rosin on your uniform or on your glove.
And after the game, Scherzer continued to be adamant about how it was just rosin and
sweat.
So we'll see how this all plays out, but unfortunately, Scherzer was ejected, and we'll see if a
suspension comes any time in the near future.
So let me know what you think about this.
Should he have been ejected?
Shouldn't he have?
