What's going on everybody welcome to another episode of Funroast Fashion
I am here with Monica Lin, the marketing director at Popular Demand. We did one of
these videos a year and a half ago here in New York now we're back again
2017 is almost over we're gonna talk about what's in what's out what's come
what's gone what's moving into 2018 and we are here in Soho New York to discuss
the newest fashion trends check it out like we said guys we are in Soho we're
in front of BAPE right now is BAPE in for 2017 or not so real quick we're
gonna just run down the line because most of you guys already know this
information for 2016 what's out dad hats ultra distressed jeans bomber jackets
NMD's ultra boost ultra distressed tees fan tees now that we have covered what
is in and out for 2016 what is in for 2017 and what's moving on to 2018 so
what has come and gone you know the embroidered roses that's like a little
plate because people put it on everything now so I think it's
definitely how to what about the life of Pablo stuff
really talk about what's in what's in what's in AFT luxury what is AFT luxury
what is some examples of that or like for fear of God they just released
thousand dollar track pants Adidas track pants but then still show like yo I got
style and I know which brands to wear you would say that the Yeezy 350s fit
in the AFT luxury next on quotes and messaging so quotes and messaging is
super big in streetwear in 2017 and I feel like it kind of started with
anti-social social club how much are you into the quotes and messaging I think I
rather have stuff that's not so branded or like has messaging on it you know is
it almost like the rock band T what people would wear like Metallica and
you're like bro do you even know what Metallica song and now it's like God is
dead it's like bro do you even know satanic rituals bro okay we got to talk
up really quick about the European brands so you have palace which we
talked about in 2016
with a certain crowd it's still going like if you walk down Fairfax or you
walk around Soho you're definitely buying something it's about Stone Island
Stone Island there's a certain crowd that appreciates like fabrics fit all
that kind of stuff and I think that's so we're gonna go meet up my homie Kevin
who's a streetwear head he lives out here in New York and he knows Soho like
the back we are in front of the Louis Vuitton flagship right now in Soho
obviously one of the hottest streetwear stories of 2017 that we have to mention
is the supreme Louis Vuitton collabo all red everything I saw the whole block
with tents and campfires and mini fridges and I heard that that's why they
ended up canceling the release right it was just getting too insane in America
that's the sad part about streetwear there's gay in line camp out actually
fans of the product they just want to buy it and sell it for like 300% more
of the original price so obviously the internet cares a lot about the supreme
LV collabo what's your guys opinion I think there are a lot of really good
pieces it's a lot you know because it's like all a lot of it was like all red it
was really bold so it's definitely not for everyone one of my friends that
actually works at LV she was saying that they were being super strict about which
VIP clients could get the pieces and I think that kind of shows both sides like
luxury and streetwear because they're both exclusive some people were saying
all right this is dope for both brands some people said it's bad for LV some
people said it's bad for supreme some people said it's bad for both my overall
thing was I definitely felt like Louis Vuitton was trying to reach out to a
younger consumer more of that like you know get fly like new money crowd I feel
like there's an Instagram fashion and Instagram is almost like the new runway
you wear stuff on IG that you would never really wear functionally like like
a full motocross outfit I think one thing that we did not get to talk about
enough is the 90s comeback in the same way Kanye brought back Adidas would you
say that ASAP Rocky brought back Guess? I definitely think that was a good move on Guess's birth
I definitely think it put Guess back on the map in terms of streetwear and street style
so a lot of these brands are basing their revival with an artist a music
artist as the centerpiece do you guys feel like that's a really smart thing
and it's been working I definitely think it puts brands on the map you know the
brand still has to have good marketing I really did the Thailand the converse
collab because it actually seems genuine okay yeah it was just like perfect it
went really well is fear of God still leading the game in 2017 leading the
game I don't know I definitely think the whole look has watered down a little bit
because so many other like the H&M you know top man they're like kind of
mirroring that look so it definitely doesn't feel as high-end and exclusive
as it did before so this is so cool thank you so much in the comment section
below make sure you let us know your favorite fashion trend in 2017 and
number two make sure you let us know something that you think is upcoming for
2018 all right you guys thank you so much for watching again huge shout out
