🌻Fall Box Planters! Quick & Easy Plants For Fall Color
I grabbed these two boxes from Michaels Crafts on an amazing BOGO sale, and thought they would be great to plant up for a fall arrangement. In the large planter I used a beautiful Croton as the thriller with a Heuchera Dolce Cinnamon Curls from proven winners as its contrast. In front of those plants I used a fiber optic grass to break apart the two larger plants and tie them up with the spillers in the front. For spillers I placed a creeping jenny on each corner and a Cabaret calibrachoa petunia in center. As the calibrachoa fills out it will bloom with rich orange flowers that will contrast with the creeping jenny and match the orange in the foliage of the croton. Crotons are tropical plants and i will be treating it as a houseplant when temps outdoors get close to frost.
In the smaller planter i had tossed in more annual plants and improvised when i remembed the Leucothoe wouldn't like the intense sun that i want to planter to get to encourage tighter growth on the Lemon Coral Sedum that is trailing over the sides as the spiller. A red coleus and Magellan mix Zinnias took the place of the leucothoe and as they fill out i will like this one a lot more, but at their current size they feel off balance! Oh and i used another Cabaret orange calibrachoa in the center as a spiller. Calibrachoas and petchoas seem to do well in the fall and even get a second wind when temps cool off. I wish i could use them more in fall arrangements but nobody seems to sell nice healthy ones this time of year where i live.
