It's Chris Flexin up on the mound Mike we're seeing him for the second time but he's making his first start this year.
Yeah he pitched in relief went four innings his last time out threw the ball extremely well but he's making his first start this year.
Last year 137 and two thirds 95 strikeouts over 51 walks.
There's ball four so Trout waits out Flexin's fastballs that stay up.
Mike Trout's the first base runner today a one out walk to bring up Shohan.
And there's ball four to Otani so back to back walks.
Hunter Renfroe is the one behind Otani.
That was a knee buckler strike three call.
Front door breaking ball locks up Hunter Renfroe for out number two.
Here's Brandon Drewer with two outs and two on.
Here's the one two.
He got him.
Fastball off the floor.
Down swinging.
Flexin strands a pair.
Shohei Otani sometimes has to go from being on base to going straight to the mound.
And as he came in from first base after being stranded there in the top of the first.
He made Ipe at the top of the dugout to get his hat and his mitt.
Take off his batting stuff.
Get the pitching stuff ready.
And then get out to the mound.
The thing you wanted to watch the most happens right away in the bottom of the first inning.
Otani versus Julio.
It is outside for ball four.
So Rodriguez with a lead off walk here in the bottom of the first inning.
Really overthrows this one and Julio easily dances into second.
So a couple of walks a wild pitch already.
First inning.
Here is Suarez.
France.
Into right field.
Julio hits the bag at third.
He's coming home.
Julio scores the throw to third.
He's off line.
France.
He's hustling home.
The throw to the.
France is out.
The Mariners do get a run.
Julio scores from second.
Suarez stands up at second base.
And it's one nothing Mariners.
Scott Service is out talking to the home plate umpire Pat Oberg.
Not exactly sure if Service is asking about where that ball hit.
Because if it bounced into the camera well and then back out it would have been out of play.
And a pitch clock violation here has been called against Otani.
With Cal Raleigh about to stand in.
So that's ball one to Raleigh.
Walking off the mound.
Joey Otani brought Ipe out to have a conversation with Pat Holberg.
About exactly why that pitch timer violation was called.
Phil Nevin came out too.
He's trying to explain exactly what he does.
Pat Holberg keeps saying I see you stepping towards.
The side.
Joey Otani just brings his foot straight back up.
When he's going to deliver the baseball.
That was a long conversation.
Here's Gio Urshela.
Line drive.
There's a base hit for Gio Urshela.
A bobble in left field by Kelnick.
But Urshela just stays at first.
Logan Ohopi is the batter.
Ohopi with a great series in Oakland at six RBI's in the first three games.
Ohopi sends one in the air.
That's deep to left.
Kelnick's going to watch it go.
That ball is long gone.
Logan Ohopi's second big league home run.
Smacks off the back wall in left field.
And the Angels get two here in the second with two outs.
They've got the lead two to one.
Bottom of the third.
First time hitting.
So what's new?
Ty France gets hit by a pitch.
Two outs.
Teoscar Hernandez will be the batter.
He struck out his first time.
That pitch hits Hernandez.
Second hit batsman of the inning.
Tony's been a little wild today.
Three walks.
Two hit by pitches now.
Pollock rolls one over to the left side.
Urshela's got it.
Throw to first in time.
Pollock's out.
And the Mariners come up empty in the third.
And here is Matt Brash pitching the sixth.
High leverage situation.
We have Trout Notani starting things off here in the sixth.
So he brings in Brash.
Lost him with a 98 mile an hour fastball.
Trout walks for the second time.
Three and two now.
A walk to Trout.
And now Notani.
Big right hand hitter.
One, two.
Swing and a miss.
Out number one.
Big strikeout.
He's going to stay with the breaking ball.
Another slider off the plate.
And he chases it.
Trying to get a punch out here.
Drury.
His two, two.
Strike.
Punishes the outside corner at 98 miles an hour.
So far he's done the hard part.
See if he can finish it off.
Kellick.
Drifting back.
And he puts it away for out number three.
Brash strands a pair.
At the bottom of the sixth.
Angels by a run.
Notani has gutted his way through five innings today.
Swing and a miss.
Strike three.
Teoscar Hernandez cut down.
Sixth strikeout for Notani.
Swing and a miss.
Strike three.
Seven strikeouts for Shohei Notani.
And two in a row.
Notani delivering to Pollock.
Three and two.
Swing and a miss.
Strike three.
Shohei Notani puts an exclamation point on the afternoon.
He finishes his day by striking out the side.
Mike Trout has handled the Mariners over the years.
But he draws a tough assignment here.
As he faces the hard-throwing Andres Munoz with two on and two out in the seventh.
Slow bouncer.
Torch short.
Crockford's going to have to hurry.
Barehand.
He has no play.
Everybody's safe.
A run scores.
Urshela comes home.
And the Angels get a big insurance run on an RBI infield hit for Mike Trout.
It's not exactly what Trouty drew up.
But he got the job done with that speed infield hit in an RBI.
Notani with a chance to extend the lead further.
Notani with a squibber down the third baseline.
That's a base hit.
Taylor Ward's going to score.
Trout and Notani come through here in the seventh.
Back-to-back RBI singles.
And the Angels have a four-to-one lead.
Boy, we showed early in the series the two of the top three as far as exit velocity in baseball.
Well, not a lot of exit velocity on these last two hits.
But the job is done.
Just towards the end of that, he's trying to make contact.
When you're dealing with somebody with that type of velocity on a slider and a fastball,
you're just trying to let him provide the power.
Nothing to on Hagerty.
Broken back soft skimmer.
Hagerty pedaling to first base.
And he legs it out.
Infield base hit.
Mariners need some base runners.
That's a good start.
Ty France the batter.
Hagerty great speed at first base.
Out towards left center.
Ward take it there.
This will score a run.
Hagerty wheels home.
Ty France stands up at second base.
He checks in with an RBI double.
It's a two-run Angels lead.
And it was loud, too.
He gets a slider up in the zone, out over the plate, and absolutely barrels it up.
Tied run at the plate.
Now Eugenio Suarez.
Two-two.
Line.
Pass late.
It's cut off.
And now Suarez caught in between.
Mariners get a run.
The Mariners are within one.
A couple of BBs off of France and Geno's bat.
It's a 4-3 Angels lead.
Kehata now on the bump.
42 games last season with a 1.13 opponent.
Batting average 172.
Sam Hagerty at the plate.
Love to get his speed on the bases right here.
This is hanging up in right field.
Renfro makes an easy catch for round number one.
J.P. Crawford climbs in.
Sharply hit.
And into right field.
J.P. Crawford turns on a slider.
And he stands at first base representing a tied run.
It has set up perfectly for the Mariners.
Everybody up on their feet now.
Julio, the winning run at the plate.
One out, bottom of the ninth.
Soft squibber.
Fletcher.
Little flip.
Renfro is at second base for round number two.
France had an RBI double as last time.
He digs in against Kehata.
Swing and a miss.
Strike three.
Say goodnight to the Mariners.
The Angels win the finale of the series.
Jose Kehata earns the save.
He strikes out Ty France to end it.
And the Angels survive a close one in Seattle.
They win it 4-3.
