Anna Delvey is the subject of the recent Netflix series "Inventing Anna". But the character is based on a real person who scammed her way through hundreds or thousands of dollars on the New York fashion scene. Anna Delvey (real name Anna Sorokin), was attempting to lease a building on Park Avenue for an upscale social club called the Anna Delvey Foundation.
Only problem was she did not have anywhere near the assets she claimed she had, but the did get pretty far, with several banks extending credit to her. In the end she got arrested and charged with wire fraud. She was sent to prison on RIker's Island for 4 years.
