Hey guys, it's Dani and today I am showing you how to roast cabbage steaks.
Now even if you think you don't like cabbage, you have to try this recipe because when you
roast cabbage it transforms it to a whole other level, it becomes tender and buttery
and then these little crispy edges, I mean it is insanely delicious.
So here's what you do.
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees, then you want to grab a rimmed baking sheet and line
it with either a piece of parchment paper or some foil.
Do not attempt to roast this cabbage right on the pan or you will be cleaning your pan
for the next three days.
Then I have a medium sized green cabbage, now you could do this with either a regular
green cabbage like I have here or a Savoy green cabbage.
You just want to make sure not to get a really large head of cabbage because then it gets
very tricky to work with.
I'll give this a rinse under some cold water, remove some of the tough outer leaves and
then I'm going to slice this lengthwise into three quarter to one inch pieces leaving the
core intact.
Now normally when you work with cabbage you would take that core out but for these cabbage
steaks we have to leave it in there because that's what keeps the cabbage together.
Place the slices on your baking sheet, you can put them close together but you don't
want them overlapping.
Then in a small bowl I'm going to combine two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil,
two cloves of crushed garlic, a half a teaspoon of salt, a pinch of black pepper and then
I'm just going to whisk that all together and gently brush it on top of each cabbage
steak.
This is how we are going to infuse all of the flavor into our cabbage.
Then I'm just going to pop this in my oven for twenty five to thirty minutes or until
my cabbage is golden brown and fork tender.
It's buttery, it's tender, I got a little bit of the crispy edge and I can taste the
garlic infused in there.
You would never believe that cabbage could taste this good.
You absolutely have got to give this recipe a try and then when you do, snap a picture
