(Premier League 2022/2023): Highlights Everton - Brighton

A belated happy new year to you wherever you are and whichever club you hold in your heart. It's probably fair to say that these two sides will look back on 2022 with contrasting emotions. Chances given to the two attacking players for Brighton. Free kick from Gray. Davis is in there, Calvert the pieces. Big Everton appeals there as well. It won't be! Very smart stop from Sanchez. Oh that is a brilliant save from Sanchez. He's got on to it as well and on he goes and goes again. He is in sparkling form in front of goal for Brighton. The seagulls season of promise continues. And the moment he doesn't get there, Everton are in trouble. It's a good first touch from Mitoma into a space I thought maybe. Ferguson likewise. Here is Ferguson. So close to a second for Brighton and a big goal for the youngster. Forward I say that Ferguson room to shoot so he does. And he wasn't far away. Mitoma once again. Oh he's happy to run a Patterson goes past him with ease. I say that for Mitoma. It's to Pignan in towards Sarmiento twisting and turning. And there it is for Ferguson. Brighton have a two goal lead and have a bright prospect on their hands in Evan Ferguson. He waits for Sarmiento to drop his shoulder and fire it across. And then he can see where the ball is going to come. Get the post. Mitoma had a brilliant opportunity as well. Here's Ferguson again. And March thought about taking it on first time. Wanders through and scores. It looks so easy. Everton at sixes and sevens and have conceded three. Oh and that's short from it just again. And a chance to race clear for Pascal Gross. It's an impudent finish. Pascal Gross showing so much of it. Not only to take the ball but seeing Tarkovsky come and taking the ball away from the Everton defender onto his left foot. When presented with a penalty kick be professional. Score it. Make sure you hit it as you want to. He'll be disappointed with that but he has made changes. He's made all five. Tried to give everybody a game. Because his team have been that comfortable. It's been a very good evening for Brighton.
