Pardon the informal nature of this video but this was very last minute and hopefully by next week's vlog I will have learned how to normalize audio because I know parts of this video are video are very loud... sorry!
After battling mealybug insects on my plants for several months I am releasing lacewing (green lacewing) eggs, lacewing larvae and pupa into the garden. The lacewings are very effective at eating soft bodied insects and should help get he mealybug infestation to a more manageable level. These are effective as pest control for houseplants indoors and out.
After releasing the lacewings I discuss an issue I had with my pool pond dealing with an ammonia spike from feeding an overly nutritious food to my sturgeon that was also eaten by the koi and goldfish. In the discussion of the ammonia spike and the nitrogen cycle I also discuss how to feed sturgeon a proper diet and how it can harm water quality if not done properly.
Finally a quick look at my nepenthes pitcher plant and referral to Brad's Greenhouse and showing my Aphelandra sinclairiana in bloom, AKA the panama queen.
