And here we are it. This is today's izakaya
Dekunobo
The izakaya has quite a history and it's been 40 years since it first began
By 7 p.m. The store will be crowded. So 5 p.m. Is probably the best time to hop in
The store opens from 1 p.m. On Saturdays
The izakaya has two floors and the space hold up to 50 people
To order you use a tablet located on each table
You can switch the language to English. So rest assured about that
If you click right here, the menu description will also pop up
First to arrive are our glasses of beer
We ordered Sapporo Black Label for its moderate bitterness and richness
Cheers!
Our first food menu has arrived
Let's begin with grilling scallops
The izakaya has abundant menus of meat and seafood other than takoyaki and okonomiyaki
Great place for those teppanyaki lovers
Let's first pour oil on the iron plate
Then spread the oil evenly with this spatula
Let's start teppanyaki
Loving how it comes with vegetables like bean sprouts green onions and green peppers
The veggies are not previously seasoned. So let's add salt and pepper
We'll stir fry for a few minutes
Once they are softened is your timing to eat
The flavor is simple, but the vegetables are very crunchy
You can enjoy the taste of seafood when you prepare it with scallop
The scallops are looking great. So let's flip to prepare both sides
It's looking beautiful
We'll drop the butter on iron to melt it
Then carefully marinate the butter and scallop
Scallop is served when you coat each drops of butter
The scallops are thick and very plump
I can taste strong sweetness, too
The butter really elevates the flavor of the scallop
You can also try with ponzu which is a mixture of soy sauce and vinegar
It will be a refreshing mouth feel
Speeding up to emptying my drink
For any charred remnants
You scrape it off with the spatula and drop them to the holes on both sides of the iron plate
Our drinks have arrived
We are trying shochu spirit mixed with oronamin c
Oronamin c is a popular energy drink in japan
It's sweet but aftertaste is refreshing making it an ideal partner to alcohol
Next up we'll prepare monjayaki
From 10 kinds we chose the one with fried noodle snack
This is classic monjayaki
We first begin with pouring oil to an iron plate
We'll leave the soup and stir fry the ingredients on iron first
Let's cook for one to two minutes once all the ingredients are on iron
Then to add okonomiyaki sauce in the remaining soup
As for the stir fried ingredients make a donut shape with a spatula
The hole in the middle is where we pour our soup in
The donut shape helps to block the soup from running down to the holes where we drop our scorched bits in
Finish it off with mixing the soup and the ingredients and there you have it
The okonomiyaki sauce is smelling fantastic
Making monjayaki is not difficult so everyone can easily make one
To eat you use this tiny spatula
The textures from the vegetables and fried noodles are great
Its sticky mouth feel is quite addictive
The soup turns to starchy batter when you place it on iron for long, but you can also eat that too
Its crispy texture has like a nostalgic snack feel to it
We have another round of drinks
We'll be having sweet ramune and shochu spirit mixture of ramune sour next
Ramune is a popular soda pop that japanese people grown up drinking in their childhood
Its refreshing aftertaste is a perfect combination to salty monjayaki
Let's now prepare okonomiyaki
This is a classic okonomiyaki with pork
First we start by preparing okonomiyaki batter and you mix so that it becomes airy
It's a little tip that you mix just above the iron plate because the ingredients from the batter may fall
Once all the batter is evenly mixed. Let's start spreading on the iron
You'd want to put it in pancake shape and rest for five minutes
Let's leave the batter alone while the batter is being prepared
This will help the batter become fluffy
We'll then flip the batter to the other side
You'd want to flip it without any hesitation
When flipped let's leave for another five minutes
The batter is looking great
We'll cut okonomiyaki with a spatula before pouring the sauce so that it finishes beautifully
When divided into four pieces pour sauce over okonomiyaki
Don't be stingy with the amount of sauce you pour
And at last you finish with bonito flakes and dried seaweed laver
Okonomiyaki is served
The sweet smell of the sauce really increases craving
Okonomiyaki is normally served prepared. So if you'd like to make your own okonomiyaki
Let the server know when you order
The oil from the pork is in great harmony with the batter and tastes amazing
Tastes slightly spicy from the sauce which contains curry powder
The flippy part is a challenge but do give it a try because it's quite an experience
Let's now order takoyaki
We start off with pouring the soup batter into the iron plate
You'd want to fill up the whole sphere so that it finishes strong
adding your octopus
Also some cabbage and pickled red ginger evenly
Then let the batter cook for five minutes
The advice here is to leave it alone and not to touch the batter
And here comes the important part
You use the skewers to collect the batter which spread the outside of sphere into the center
By doing this it makes the size bigger and shape better
Once you've collected all the batter into the center you slowly turn the batter to form one circle
It's looking great
Again, you collect the batter inside the sphere and let it set
Slowly becoming a beautiful ball shape
It's ready when all the surface of the ball is cooked
Let's pour sauce over the balls once they are placed on plate
Takoyaki is served by finishing with bonito flakes and dried seaweed laver
What a beautiful takoyaki
It's round and one big takoyaki
Outside is crispy with creamy inside
The appearance is just perfection
The octopus are big and chewy
It tastes better since this is self-made
Sauce is a great accompany but recommend to try eating with salt
You can really enjoy the crispy texture when eating with salt
Hope you'd give it a try
And finally let's finish with something quite unique
This is sauce flavored yakisoba
It's served ready to eat
The sweet aroma of the sauce is really tempting
The noodles are thick with chewy textures
It's cooked perfectly with some partial savory and crispy textures
It comes with bonito flake broth soup with raw egg
You'd want to mix the egg and the soup together
And dip your yakisoba into just prepared soup
The hearty soup has come in harmony with rich yakisoba and this is delicious
It's so creamy from the egg too
This is quite an addiction
Eating self-made plate are secret recipe for better taste
Ordering is easy too. So please take a visit to this izakaya
