Captain Wataru Endo and Stuttgart were on a 21-game winless run on the road when they
faced Europa League champions Frankfurt at the Deutsche Bank Park.
It was here that the Eintracht had won four consecutive Bundesliga home fixtures and they
had kept a clean sheet in each of the previous three.
Frankfurt had Randall Colomawane with 11 goals and 10 assists since joining from Nantes at
the start of the season.
He was the danger man to guard.
His Slalom-style dribbling skills created Frankfurt's best chance after 23 minutes.
Linking up well was Raphael Borre and it almost paid off but Hiroki Ito was there to block
the danger.
One of five Japanese players to be involved in this contest.
In the first half that lacked in the big chances, Stuttgart became theirs two minutes before
half-time.
Juan Jose Perea could not score.
Despite a game that was to and fro, the chances before the break had been few and far between.
Frankfurt needed points to keep in touch with the European places, Stuttgart to keep above
the drop zone.
And it was skipper Sebastian Rohde who scored the first goal.
Breaking the deadlock, a beautifully taken effort to put Eintracht 1-0 in the lead.
So's shot had been initially cleared but Rohde took charge.
Keeper Fabian Bredlow beaten by the deflection from Borna Sosa.
Another Japanese international got involved when Genki Haraguchi found the perfect pass
for substitute Silas to score his fourth of the season.
Just 12 minutes after being subbed on and the visitors were back in the match.
Stuttgart defended the point right till the very end and one of the most effective saves
of the season from a defender was produced by Konstantinos Mavropanos, denying Kola Mouwani
in the 89th minute.
A point apiece was hard fought for and deserved for both coaches.
1-1 the final score.
