Hi, I'm Samurai Junjiro, born and raised in Japan.
In this video, we are going to eat our way through the popular gourmet food in Tsukiji.
We'll introduce you to 7 restaurants from the ones with long lines to the hidden ones.
Luxurious seafood bowl will also appear, so please stay tuned.
Now, let's get started.
Here we are at Tsukiji.
The market has moved to Toyosu, but it's still a very popular tourist destination.
Even on weekdays, the place is packed with people.
Let's eat a luxurious seafood bowl at the end in this building built in 2016.
Well then, let's go to the first restaurant I'm going to introduce you.
First up is Tsukiji Croquette.
It's a brand new place just opened in 2021.
The fried sweet potato chips are popular, but today we are having croquette.
I've decided on the most popular croquette of the 5 available.
It's done.
Let's eat.
It's rare for croquette to have dried bonito flakes and green laver on top.
It's freshly fried, so the batter is hot and crispy.
In fact, inside this croquette is Tokyo's famous monjayaki.
It's filled with noodles, cabbage, and red ginger.
The ingredients seasoned with sweet and spicy sauce and dried bonito flakes go so well together.
And it's not too big either, so it's perfect for eating your way through.
Let's go to the next restaurant.
The second one I would like to introduce is Tsukiji Juju.
It's a restaurant often featured on TV and the internet.
They grill seafood and meat on the iron plate right in front of you.
This time, I decided on skewers that you can eat various seafood at once.
You can smell the good aroma through the glass.
Stick it on the skewer and it's done.
Pour some soy sauce over it.
Let's eat!
The shrimp have a nice firm texture.
The scallop is big and sweet.
The octopus is small but delicious.
The eel is crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
It's nice that you can enjoy various tastes with one.
Let's go to the next restaurant.
The third one is the egg omelette tamagoyaki specialty restaurant Yamacho.
It's a restaurant with a long history, founded over 70 years ago.
There are a variety of tamagoyaki available,
but I ordered the one that's perfect for eating your way through.
Beautifully cooked without any burnt spots.
That's what I'd expect from a restaurant that's been around for over 70 years.
Let's eat freshly baked.
The scent of eggs and Japanese-style soup stock is irresistible.
It's so sweet, it's like dessert.
The texture is amazingly fluffy.
It's amazing that it costs less than a dollar for a piece.
It's completely different from the omelette made at home.
Okay then, let's move on to the next restaurant.
The fourth one I'd like to introduce is Tomboya.
It's been a popular store ever since it opened in 2018.
This restaurant specializes in tuna steaks and you get to eat tuna fresh off the grill.
Let's see them grilling.
They are searing it on the burner and grilling it with oil.
Sprinkle pepper and salt on the freshly grilled tuna.
The outside is crispy because it is grilled while sprinkling oil.
The taste of tuna is strong.
It's as good as the meat.
The meat is plump and cooked just right.
I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't like raw fish.
Now let's go to the next store.
The fifth one I'm going to introduce is a butcher.
It's Yoshizawa Shoten with a history of over 90 years.
They mainly deal in Wagyu beef and have some of the finest meats available.
This time we are going for the minced meat cutlet.
Menchikatsu made with special meat.
Let's eat.
This Menchikatsu is made with Matsuzaka beef, one of the three great Wagyu beef in Japan.
The crumbs in the batter are huge and so crispy.
Let's break it open.
The gravy overflows from Matsuzaka beef.
It's a refreshing fatty meat without any distinct flavor.
It's sweet and delicious.
Let's go to the next store.
The sixth store I would like to introduce is Sanokiya.
It's a popular Taiyaki store that's been around for about 10 years.
But this Taiyaki is not in the shape of a sea bream but in the shape of a tuna.
Let's eat freshly baked.
It looks like a cute tuna.
The sweet scent is irresistible.
The crust that sticks out all the way to the outside is so crunchy.
There's plenty of red bean paste inside.
It's just the right sweetness.
It has a smoother texture than the red bean paste from other shops.
Let's go to the next store.
Last but not least, the shop is on the third floor of this building where I first went.
There's a food court on the third floor where you can find Tsukiji gourmet food.
There are several shops but today I'll go with this one.
It's tuna specialty store, Tekaya.
It's owned by a company that's been running a tuna wholesale business in Tsukiji for over 90 years.
I'll have the most popular dish here, the seafood bowl.
It's a nice day so let's eat outside on the terrace.
The food is ready.
It's a seafood bowl with plenty of tuna.
You get to taste two kinds of tuna, the lean and the medium fatty tuna.
Tuna of such a beautiful color is hard to find.
Let's have some miso soup before we eat our seafood bowl.
It's a gentle taste.
Now let's eat the seafood bowl.
Let's start with the lean meat.
It's big and thick.
Very beautiful lean meat.
Let's put wasabi and soy sauce.
Put it on rice.
The taste of tuna is very rich.
It's thick and has a satisfying taste.
It goes great with rice that has just the right amount of vinegar.
Next, let's eat medium fatty tuna.
Medium fatty tuna is also very big.
It's a surprisingly beautiful color.
Add wasabi and soy sauce.
Let's eat it on rice.
It melts as soon as you put it in your mouth.
It's incredibly delicious.
That's what you'd expect from a restaurant that's been serving tuna for over 90 years.
Tsukiji is a great place to eat your way through because of all the delicious food.
Let me know in the comments if there's a place you'd like to try.
Well, that's it for today.
See you in the next video!
