US Intelligence Directors Testify on Global Threats - March 9, 2023
The directors of the CIA, FBI, National Intelligence, National Security Agency, and the Defense Intelligence Agency testified on global security threats before the House Intelligence Committee. DNI Avril Haines repeated the warning she gave to the Senate Intelligence Committee the previous day, that is, the Chinese Communist Party is the leading threat to the United States and the world. Her statement was echoed by FBI Director Christoper Wray, who said the Chinese government has a bigger hacking program than all other nations combined, and expressed serious concerns regarding Chinese technology companies like ByteDance, the parent company of the popular app TikTok. Moreover, Chair Michael Turner (R-OH) announced that a working group will be made to “reform” section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which enables U.S. intelligence officials to search foreign communications (which may also involve Americans) without a warrant.
