Going camping is no longer the bare-bones experience it used to be,
although it still can be if you prefer it that way.
With modern tents and equipment, you can actually enjoy the great outdoors like never before,
staying better protected while using modern creature comforts that greatly enhance the
experience. You're watching the Interesting and Creative Designs channel. Here are 10
insane tents that we think you should see.
Let's kick things off with the MODIS all-in-one camping system from Krua.
You'll be surprised at just how much you can carry in its jam-packed yet lightweight waterproof
bag. As its name suggests, this is much more than just a tent. In fact, it contains your
sleeping bag, an air mattress, bug mesh, a flysheet, picnic basket, temperature regulator,
and hammock. Almost every piece of the MODIS has been designed to be multifunctional.
It allows you to take refuge from the bugs and elements,
but still lets you enjoy the view and feel it one with nature.
If you're traveling with a partner, you can combine two of the systems together to make
a larger tent with dual sleeping areas. Alternatively, if the weather is nice,
you can set up the hammock and swing and snore between the trees.
The waterproof air mattress provides a comfortable place to lie down almost anywhere,
and if the wind or rain spoils your outdoor reading, you can retreat to your cozy cocoon
and wait it out. When it's time to move on, everything packs down nicely and neatly.
Speaking of moving on, Cube Tents have come up with an amazing new range of
quick-pitch tents that allow you to move effortlessly between camping spots.
The cube-shaped structures, which are tall enough to actually stand up in,
can be pitched any fraction of the time it takes to set up a standard tent.
This one has Velcro flap windows to let in sunlight and ventilation for fresh air.
If you thought erecting the Cube Tent was speedy, wait until you see how quickly it
can be collapsed and packed away. After unhooking the support lines,
a firm push on the side of the cube does most of the work, and then you just fold it up,
put it in your holdall, and you're off. Much larger cubes are available if you're
feeling claustrophobic, and infinite cubes can be combined to make a super tent.
Now you've got plenty of space to walk around and look out at the scenic views.
The tents come in a variety of colors, and you can customize your setup to make your
campsite the envy of others. This design is really changing the shape of camping, literally.
If you were just imagining something a bit more glamorous from this video,
don't give up hope just yet. Here's a two-story loft house style dome tent that
exemplifies the term glamping, that's glamorous camping for the uninitiated.
It may take a bit more time and effort to build, but the results speak for themselves.
The bottom floor houses an impressive kitchen lounge area, while upstairs there's a comfy bed,
a seating area to look out at the stars, and even an ensuite bathroom, complete with a sink,
toilet, and a proper shower. Man, this place rivals many apartments, but it's still technically
a tent. This next one is for adventurers who like to travel with their vehicle.
The BDV, which stands for Blue Dot Voyager, is a hardshell rooftop tent by iCamper that's seeking
to revolutionize the industry. No longer will you need to sleep in your cramped truck, as now
you can take the BDV and enjoy beautiful views from on top of it. To access the tent, a ladder
attaches firmly to the upper deck. There are also safety straps to keep everything in place,
and the tent's material is made from eco-friendly materials. The Blue Dot Voyager can support a
weight of up to 100 pounds on its roof, and it has solar panels to capture the sun's energy so
that you can charge your phone. Available as a single or duo tent, it's surprisingly cozy inside,
and you can set up your own little awning to look out and feel at peace while staying sheltered.
Now that's something to smile about!
Hoping to reshape the camping experience for families is this, the Cortez Octagon 8 by Coleman.
The process for erecting the octagon is much the same as that of a normal tent,
with the exception that there are 8 poles to be inserted in order to give the tent its iconic
shape. Once the waterproof cover is on and all the poles and pegs are in place, you have a
spacious octagonal shelter that can accommodate a family with up to 8 members. Or you could get
away from the kids and spread out on the double bed. Come rain or shine, this temporary abode will
keep you warm and dry. It'll also provide you with 360-degree views of your surroundings.
A sewn-in ground sheet will stop any water from seeping in, while the tent's fire-retardant
material will prevent any fiery fiascos. At the same time, an innovative hinged door allows for
a quick entry or exit in an emergency, and also gives the octagon a more homey feel. Likewise,
a small arch over the entrance and considerate extras like pockets to put your valuables and
hooks for hanging lights make the space convenient and welcoming. If you need some extra privacy and
personal space, you can always put up a partition that's included with the tent. The world is your
oyster. Or octopus, I guess. If a hard-shell rooftop tent isn't suitable for your lifestyle
or your vehicle, you might want to consider a gentler approach. Take this GT Skyloft from
Gentle Tent, for example. Attachable to pretty much any vehicle with a roof rack, the tent can
unfold and be inflated using the electric pump that plugs into your car's cigarette lighter
socket. A ladder attaches to the inflated base of the tent using a Velcro strap, and then the
remainder of the tent is inflated to complete the structure. The amount of extra living space it
provides is pretty impressive. And don't worry, it's sturdy enough to accommodate two people.
It's certainly much more comfortable than curling up in the backseat of the car.
As you'd imagine, deflating the tent is an even speedier process than pumping it up,
meaning when it's time to get up and go, you can be hitting the road in just a few minutes after
waking up from your lazy lie-in. Just a few straps here, fold that in, zip it up, and that's it.
On to the next one. The guys and gals at Krua, whom we featured at the start of this video,
are back with another design that will keep you warm no matter where you are.
Introducing the Thermotent, the new standard of outdoor comfort. Experienced campers will
tell you that tents can be too hot, too cold, or too noisy at times, and it's enough to put
many people off the experience. However, with Thermotent, a tent that claims to be the world's
first correctly insulated tent, you'll feel right at home. Its designers even admit that tents used
to annoy them, but not anymore. The added layers of insulation, in addition to Krua's specially
designed Breathe technology, mean that whether you're in your backyard or on an arctic expedition,
the air and temperature inside the tent remain stable and comfortable. That means you can worry
about other things, like taking in the gorgeous natural landscape, or making a fire for your
guests who will want to stay in your nicely insulated abode. Next is another all-in-one
entry, this time from RhinoWolf. Instead of having to take lots of heavy camping equipment,
this attachable super tent combines everything you'll need into a compact, portable package.
Booyah! Your sleeping bag, mattress, and tent, along with the pegs,
all fit inside the compact RhinoWolf. In only a minute, you can unfurl the tent,
insert the poles and pegs, and you've got a weatherproof shelter to call your own.
Lay down on your padded mattress and wait out the rain with a book. If you have a neighbor,
you can even combine tents and have a game of cards or something. In fact, you can actually
combine multiple tents if you wish, which makes for a cool rainbow effect and some excellent
camping trips, I'm sure. It really ups the level of integration and interaction,
so you can choose to link up with a buddy and let them watch a movie with you. Or,
if you have a falling out, you can separate your tent and have some much-needed time to yourself.
It's a pretty clever concept, and an affordable one, too.
If you like to wander through the desert or go camping in places where the sun is more of an
enemy than a friend, this is the tent for you. It's also a great tent in normal weather,
but in sunny conditions is where it truly shines. The Siesta 4 is a four-person tent
made from a specially-developed waterproof fly fabric that reflects infrared,
visible, and ultraviolet light. Compared to typical nylon and polyester tents,
the Siesta 4 is dramatically cooler and darker inside when in direct sunlight.
It's also the world's first tent to feature ducted side vents into which you can install
up to two ultra-quiet 8-inch USB-powered fans. The fans draw cooling fresh air directly into
the inner tent, which comes as a blessing, especially when the doors are closed or if
there's no natural breeze. The full-length fly and closeable mesh provide outstanding protection
when the weather becomes too hot or cold to handle. Inventors of the Siesta 4 hail it as
the most versatile tent ever made, and its backers on Kickstarter seem to agree.
The final tent in this camping showcase is a six-person instant cabin tent made by CORE,
a company that aims to make camping more comfortable and less complicated.
The instant cabin benefits from a simple, time-saving setup that involves removing
its contents from the carry bag, laying the contents flat, and realizing that all of the
poles you need are already attached to the tent and connected by a hub on the ceiling.
How convenient! All you need to do is pull each leg pole upwards until the elbow joints flex.
Then extend the telescoping poles until the locking buttons engage and repeat for the
opposite side. That's all there is to it! You can stabilize the tent by using pegs at a 45-degree
angle, as shown. And for full protection from the rain, just drape the water-resistant rainfly
over your tent and clip it to the leg poles. There's also a slack adjuster for windy conditions
and handy pockets for lights. Now, relax! Which of these incredible tents would you
like to take with you on your next camping trip? Let us know in the comments. Remember to leave a
