Hey, welcome to Eglon College. My name is Miranda and I'm half English and half Italian.
I'm Dingding Bai. I'm a Chinese Canadian so I was born in China but I live in Canada.
And we're currently in the admissions office and today Dingding and I are going to take you on a
tour of the school. So let's go. So Eglon is a super diverse community. Amongst the 380 students
we have over 60 different nationalities which is really cool because my two best friends
are from Lebanon and Iran and Poland. Two of the most different places. Yeah and I've got
friends from Japan, from England and even from places like China and Africa. So the first thing
you notice as you walk outside is the weather. It's not always like this. But sometimes it can
be like this. So anyways we're now heading into Labaita, one of our junior houses out of the
nine houses that we have. So boarding starts in Eglon from ages 9 all the way up to 18.
And this house here is the junior school boys house. Welcome to the Eglon Junior School.
So this is the junior school boys house but this is also the central hub where most of the junior
school do their day-to-day activities. They have breakfast here. There are three classrooms
upstairs. They eat dinner here and there's also this cool space to watch movies, hang out, play
some board games and just chill with friends. So now we're gonna go upstairs and we're gonna
check out some of the prep form classes. Over here we have one of our prep form classrooms.
Hey guys. So they're just reading a book now as part of one of their English lessons.
Upstairs we have the boys boarding houses for the juniors and as of now let's head over to
the art department. So we're now in the art department which is used from the junior school
right the way up to year 13. It's used for GCSE exams and IP exams as well. Here we have where
all the metalwork happens and back there there's a photography studio. Ding Ding actually takes art.
I do take art and I mainly focus things on like Photoshop and film. So what's great help for me
is the fact that the school provides all Adobe products like Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects.
And yeah so that was the art department. We're now going to head over to the John Corlatt
building or the JCB as we call it. So we're now in the IT department where we have 3D printers,
computers and pretty much anything you could need. Upstairs we have the music department.
So this is the music department where we have many instruments, a classroom for music classes,
private music lesson rooms and we also have a recording studio. Yeah so many people take
lessons here for example like piano and even singing lessons as well. So yeah let's go check
out the science department. So right now we're in one of the biology labs on the floor above
and at Eglon they offer chemistry, biology, physics and computer science. So I take at IBE
chemistry and biology at higher level and I hope to continue my studies to become
a doctor or maybe go into pharmaceuticals and yeah. I'm a year 11 student and because of the
fact that I'm studying the IGCSEs this means that I have to take all sciences including physics,
chemistry and biology. So one of the unique things about our campus is that it's super spread out.
So I start my day off having maths all the way up in La Baita and then next period have Spanish all
the way down in La Poste. So it's really cool. During the winter term because of our campus'
location we're able to just access the telecabine super easily. So it's literally just a three
minute walk to a ski resort. So the day usually starts off with most of the people waking up at
around 7 a.m. and then we continue at 7.55 with the assembly. And then we have five lessons which
are 15 minutes long and then lunch starts at 1.15. So let's go see what's for lunch. Yeah.
So we usually get about three different options of food every day one of which is vegetarian.
Today we have beef, salmon and vegetarian croquettes. So I'm gonna get the beef I don't
know about you. I'm gonna join you on that one. Merci Monsieur. Wow that was so good. Oh my god
those croquettes. I know. So now we're gonna go check out my boarding house Clermont.
So this is my boarding house Clermont and it's a girl's house obviously. And through here is the
main common room where girls come, they do prep, hang out, chill on the sofas and usually it's
packed. But right now everyone's either in lessons or skiing. Through here we have the
kitchen where we can cook food from home or anything we want. And then we have the TV room
where we have movie nights every Friday with popcorn and hot chocolate. Now we're gonna go
look at one of the rooms but I'm afraid Ding Ding you have to stay here. What? This is a girl's house.
Are you kidding me? Hey Oana what's up? Oh hi just reading. Oh that's cool. Are you ready for dinner
later? Yeah. All right I'll see you then. See you. Bye. Let's move. This is the sports center.
Truly one of the most amazing facilities we have here at Eglon. So this is where we have all big
events from graduation, prize giving at the end of term, new students arrival day. But when no
parents are here this is just the sports center where we do all our indoor sports like basketball,
volleyball and even hit the gym sometimes. Let's go. So as of now we're currently inside
of the sports center. So here at Eglon we offer all types of sports from rock climbing, basketball,
volleyball, netball. Skiing is obviously a big key sport here. We also have badminton, tennis
and pretty much any sport you can think of. We have the health center there which you can go to
if you're sick. Behind we have some grass fields for some more outdoor sports and this is our gym.
Pieces of equipment such as the treadmill, the weights. So that was the end of the tour.
We're sorry we couldn't show you guys everything but we do hope you come and visit us sometime.
I have to go. I have skiing now. I've got badminton. So thank you for watching. See you
later Miranda. See ya.
