(Premier League 2022/2023): Highlights Chelsea - Leeds United

Clearly a major improvement in form between now and the end of the season will satisfy supporters of Chelsea and Leeds United, who beat at Stamford Bridge in west London. Leeds get us under way, while a majority of supporters bought into the idea that Graham Potter needed time to develop his Chelsea team. Adams again, Adams has done well to win the ball back for Leeds if only momentarily. Good stop by Melia, without the lines, the shortage of confidence running through the Chelsea ranks. He was on his weakest side, it's Luke Ayling who plays him on, you can see he's retreating in this right-back position, definitely plays him on, he's a couple of yards behind his centre-backs, so he's going through, he's trying to adjust his feet, he's on his wrong side, his right side, to dink it over, but in fairness to Melia, that is a good... Xhal-Felix, Enzo Fernandes, now Sterling... It's a lovely cut-back, and it's come off the underside of the ball from Xhal-Felix. The fans going, Fernandes out to Sterling, he cuts it back, this is great technique to keep that down, because I thought he's got to have a touch there, it was coming at such a pace, but he didn't lash at it, kind of side-footed it, didn't he, it was a lovely technique, as it comes back, that's quite some pace, just sits up there, it's kind of a little volley, side-foot volley if you like, cannons off the underside of the ball, and Leeds get away with it, but that'll get the crowd going. Kovacic, Enzo Fernandes... Hansen, one of the United States contingent in the Leeds squad, Chilwell, caught it first time, took it early. Chilwell, look, Aylin's preoccupied, he's not opened his body up, he doesn't, no, Chilwell's playing on that last defender, times it well, I think he can have a touch here, Tony. He elects to take it on the volley, and that may be, even if he takes it on the volley, it's a side. It's Chelsea who get the ball rolling at the start of the second half, Leeds United looking to complete a double over today's opponents. I'd like to see a little bit more positivity driving towards that area. Kovacic, Jean-Félix, here's Sterling, Loftus-Cheek, and chucked over the top of the crossbar by Sterling. Simply too much height on the corner for the goalkeeper. Wesley Pofana rows highest to put Chelsea in front. But he learned his lesson here, got in between defenders, and that's a towering header. And the keeper couldn't really react that from seven yards out. Great pace on the cross, gets his head on it, and Chelsea 1-1. Oh, his feet are off the floor there. Win for Chelsea, a vital win for Graham Potter given the pressure that he's been under.
