Highlights: Southampton - Grimsby Town | Emirates FA Cup 2022/2023

Here come Southampton, Walker-Peters, Gineppo with the run, he's pulled it back, that's a lovely finish, Sakamara. But I think his joy is short-lived, because I believe that's offside against Gineppo, it's been checked. Let's just, oh, he's gone too early. And it won't count. And the Grimsby fans behind that goal breathe again. Here's Everte, good ball forward there by Holohan. Now a chance for Emanuel, McAteer's in the middle. In comes Across, hits Lianco, bounces to the far side. Good run in there by Clifton, smothered by the goalkeeper, Clifton thinks he was held down. But they're checking here for handball against Lianco, and you can see he crooked his arm there, it's gone to VAR. Four minutes and 15 seconds later, it's a penalty. Holohan with it, calmly done. They missed a penalty at the weekend against Lake Lawrence, he didn't miss there, and I don't think he's ever taken a penalty before at first-team level. What a shot we could have here, on the stroke of half-time, Grimsby lead. He's been Corners personified all night. Need a reply here. It's come to Moura, oh, goodness me, that's a wretched finish. That's horrible. Well-positioned, could have taken a touch. Need a response here at the start of the second period for competitors. Janepo has been lively when he's had the ball, and this is a dangerous run. And it's just squeezed away off Niall Mayer, who didn't know much about it. Southampton pressing now. Long by Crocombe. Tussle in the middle there, Orsi and Shaleta-Sarr. Oh, Shaleta-Sarr is hit out, and the referee here is giving a penalty. But I don't think he saw what led up to it, they were tangling. Danilo Orsi and Shaleta-Sarr, they were both holding on. Orsi then hits him on the back there, look, and Shaleta-Sarr, that's a ridiculous reaction. It's a soft penalty, though. Underhand for the second time in the game. 2-0, Southampton, whose season is crumbling in front of our eyes. They don't care. Lovely penalty. What a night he's having, he's played really well too. Ward-Prouse has made a difference, it's coming off the bench. It's Shaleta-Sarr, they're back in it. Completely free at the far post. That's what Ward-Prouse can do with his deliveries, why didn't he start? Beautiful cross, well finished. 1-2. Walker-Peters into the box. Substitute, Taylor, it's not long. Perrot is underneath it, he should deal with it, he hasn't. McAtee, he can wrap up the tie here now, Perrot can't get back at him. McAtee, McAtee! Smothered by McCarthy after a heavy touch. Goodness me, he could have put them through to the last eight. Just overstretched, the touch was long. Here's Ward-Prouse, Walcott's gone early. Walcott into the box, can he finish? He can, but will the flag go up? This will be an astonishing comeback by Southampton if it stands. He thinks it's 2-2. Oh, he's offside. Walcott's offside, another Southampton goal chalked off. This is last chance saloon time, it's Walker-Peters. It's wide, it sums up their night, they're heading out of the cup. What a night for Grimsby, into the last eight for the first time since 1939. Ten hugs just nodded at me, how does that make you feel? I love him, I love that man.
