(Premier League 2022/2023): Highlights Everton - Aston Villa

This is Ian Crocker with Leon Osman at Gunnarsson Park for Everton against Aston Villa in the Premier League. The most played fixture in English league history. Everton beat Arsenal 1-0 here. They beat Leeds 1-0 here. And they would absolutely take another 1-0 out of this contest as they look to get on the front foot immediately. Floating one towards Watkins. Picked him out perfectly. And Jordan Pickford makes a big save. Decent enough first touch. Thinks he's about to finish it and suddenly from nowhere... Blocked by Kass. Mikalenko. That's inviting. Ginez makes a superb save to foil an honour. Dwight McNeil to float it in. Liliano Buendia and Alex Moreno about to come on. But hang on because here's Luca Digna. One hour to go in this engrossing encounter. It remains 0-0. Buendia setting it up here. John McGinn! ...in this fixture. And he's had 20 seconds on the pitch. One beautiful first touch into the path of John McGinn. Who has a good first touch. Protects the ball. Matrissa Gornicke who just can't help himself. Oli Watkins steps forward. Clean through the ball. Great technique. Real confidence in himself. You can see when he ran away to celebrate. He knew exactly how many games on the run he scored in now. That fell invitingly for Watkins. And it certainly tested Pickford. Almost landed on the television. There's nobody up here who could control it. Everton advancing with Decore. Oh, and having just come on. What a moment for Alice Sims. Final ten minutes. Watkins, McGinn. Everton exposed. A little. Buendia. Oh, he gets a shot away here! The insurance of a second goal. Brilliant play. You'd have to say. Aston Villa will feel that that's job done. These five minutes have ended on timer up. Devaree Gray's corner. Aston Villa will have a clean seat to go. With a much needed victory. After leaking 11 goals in their last three matches.
