Hi guys! We're going to show you some of the bizarre and insane roads around the world,
which you would like to see in this video but would never want to take them in real life.
These roads have all types of hazards like snow, jungles, waterfalls, bandits,
and even sea to stop you from getting to your destination.
The extremely dangerous stretches will be ranked on the increasing danger levels,
so make sure to watch until the end since you do not want to miss the top one on this list.
Number 8
Tiananmen Mountain Roads, China
To start the video, we have a rather easy one.
Tiananmen Mountain Roads is one of the most steep and challenging mountain roads in China.
The roads are not as challenging narrow, but for rookie drivers, it is quite a task to get past it.
The road is a stretch of about 11,000 kilometers from the start to the finish,
and there is an elevation of 1,100 meters. Hello, thin air sickness!
Over the course of those 11,000 kilometers, you can find 99 hairpin turns.
So if you are prone to motion sickness, then stay away from it.
Since it is built on such a high mountain, the area is also used by many wingsuit devils.
But if you are driving, then keep your eyes on the road instead of the beauty around,
and the wingsuit honks over your head, since you don't want to lose your attention.
Number 7
Patiopolo-Perdikeki Road, Greece
Patiopolo-Perdikeki Road in Greece is another mountain road,
but it is one step ahead of the one we discussed earlier.
The Tiananmen Mountain Road is covered entirely with roadblocks near the edge,
but the Patiopolo-Perdikeki Road does not.
The turns are even more steep, and the condition of the road is worse than you could ever imagine.
It is full of potholes, and add in bad weather and mud as well.
The road is used by pedestrians, local transport, and even livestock.
This makes the traffic unbearably dangerous, and the worst part about these roads
is that even the cliffside edges are not marked.
This makes driving in dark nothing less than a nightmare.
Imagine if this were our second last, what would our top three look like?
Spoiler alert!
Expect some sea.
Number 6
Taroko Gorge Road, Taiwan
This mountain road is more likely to hurt you with landslides than accidents.
Taroko Gorge Road is considered to be the most dangerous road in Taiwan.
The landslides, earthquakes, and rains are the reason why.
It is carved between and even through the mountains,
which make the site prone to a plethora of landslides due to erosion.
To make things even harder, you will have to take a series of blind turns.
And that too, in a road so narrow that it is hard to even overtake others.
Oh, and by the way, don't even try to overtake anyone,
if you want to stay alive.
As if you mess up, you will find yourself miles down in the hands of death.
Number 5
Halsema Highway, Philippines
Remember in the intro I talked about waterfalls?
Well, this is the one about the waterfalls.
You already know how hard mountain roads can be, as we started up with them.
But what happens if you add in waterfalls to the already dangerous mountain roads?
You guessed it.
Halsema Highway is what happens.
The Halsema Highway is no doubt one of the most beautiful ones on the list.
But its beauty is what makes it even more dangerous.
With very less and even no rails on the edges of the roads,
the Halsema Highway is the recipe of hazard.
Many young and adventurous youth take this one to quench their thirst of adventure.
But for many, it ends with fatalities.
The buses go much faster than they should and often end up hitting others.
Also, rains and fog add up to worsen the situation over time.
So try and stay off this road as long as you can.
Number 4
Air Highway, Australia
I'm pretty sure that you have seen this image in some meme pages.
The memes about which car would you want to drive on this road.
Well, reading through some sarcastic comments, I found out that this road actually exists.
It is probably the straightest highway in the world.
It is about 1,675 kilometers in length and probably your dream road to be on.
But what if I tell you that this innocent-looking road with no turns
is a home to very dangerous accidents?
Since it is so straight, it is the hub of speeding,
which eventually causes the driver to lose control of the car and end up in an accident.
Even if the driver is responsible and not speeding,
the utter repetition and boringness of the deserted area leads drivers to doze off.
And you can evaluate how that may end up for them.
There is a reason why the Air Highway is called as the Slaughter Alley by locals.
So if you used to fantasize about visiting the Air Highway,
based on some meme, you should think again.
Now we're stepping into our top three,
and these are the most dangerous roads you can find on the world.
Number 3
Karakoram Highway, China and Pakistan
Karakoram Highway is the world's highest international highway
that connects China to Pakistan.
Since it is located at such a height, bad weather is obvious.
The area is chilling cold,
and to make the situations even worse,
you can expect frequent fogs, floods, and snowfalls.
Don't be surprised when I tell you that the highway has to remain closed
for a majority of the time due to the unmanageable snow.
As if that was not enough,
the Karakoram Highway is infamous for attacks by bandits and terrorists.
So if you manage to escape the natural calamities,
then you are also on the verge to be attacked by some thug.
Finally, to add in the danger list of this highway,
you are at high risk of oxygen shortage and altitude sickness thanks to the thin air.
Number 2
Passage des Gois, France
Have you ever seen a road between a sea?
Or maybe a sea between a road?
If not, then you are going to do it now,
since Passage des Gois in France is renowned for being submerged under the sea.
This 4.3-kilometer road connects the island Noirmontier to the rest of the France.
It does seem okay normally,
but I should break the news to you that the road remains underwater twice a day.
There are scheduled timing for the ideal times to cross the road,
and if you miss to follow the instructions,
then your car is going to go with the water.
Even if you manage to cross the road on time,
you're still on the verge of slipping off thanks to the slippery seaweed.
This has led to numerous accidents and fatalities.
So if you ever go to France, stay away from this road.
Now, we have finally come to the conqueror of this list,
and this road is claimed to be the most dangerous road on Earth by numerous sources.
Number 1
Zojilapas, India
There is not a lot which you can call a road.
This is carved through the Himalayans and is about 3.5 kilometers above the sea level.
This 9 kilometers long road connects Ladakh to Kashmir,
and it takes a lot of lives every year.
This road is of trade importance, so you can find a lot of trucks on it.
Since it is so high, the air is thin, and you could easily be oxygen deprived.
Moreover, the edges are exposed, as if the demon is asking you to come down.
The snow and strong winds make this already challenging road almost impossible to cross.
The officials would recommend you to use a 4x4 car to cross the area,
but even the best of cars struggle to cross it.
The cars also suffer in lower performance,
since they do not get sufficient air for internal combustion.
Hence, if you were looking for a challenge, Zojilapas is full of them.
Livestock also use this same narrow road to cross, which is used by automobile.
And oh, did I mention there are no safety barriers at all?
This is one hell of a road that you would never want to take ever.
