EMMA'S ALLOTMENT DIARIES / APRIL 2020 / THE SCARECROW

Welcome back to my allotment plot if you are new around here my name is Emma this is my first ever allotment plot and I'm basically documenting my journey so I would love for you to subscribe to my and I'm at my plot I came really early because to be honest I felt like a fugitive coming here today I felt like I was just looking over my shoulder the whole time convinced someone was going to stop me and be like where do you think you're going um so and I've come early as well because I just know that so many people are going to descend on the plot today and just take it over so I thought I would come nice and early what the hell is that on the floor oh okay god oh god it's just there right so I thought I would just come and check on the plot obviously I sowed some um so I want to make sure the foxy hasn't dug them all up I want to check my dahlias are not dying and basically just have a look at the plot and I've also got a plan I've got a plan today I know I know you love it when I say I've got a plan because you know you know what it means it means I don't know what I'm doing and I'm going to do something really really stupid so let's just go and do that oh god here we are again oh god right we're going on a fox investigation see what damage the bug has done today all right okay he's been digging in here again that's okay though because there's nothing in there yet let me get away with that um right oh god please don't have been in here oh you know what I don't think he has unless he's been in there how would he get in there though you can't get in he sort of had a walk around you can see little footprints in there but he's not gone in here so this is obviously a really good idea what about the dahlias let's have a look no nothing can get in oh foxy foxy foxy every time I'm so jumpy I still think the police are gonna like jump out any minute and just tell me to go home oh he's been in here right okay bloody onions he's pulled up a couple of onions bugger what's that what's that what is that what the hell is that oh I don't like it oh it's a flower oh for god's sakes I thought it was a part of a creature that he's destroyed right it doesn't look like he's been back but I don't trust him right but having a think about my fox situation uh a lot of you have left lots of really great suggestions amazing thank you so much the one that I like the best that I think is the most manageable and doable right now because I don't have much budget any budget uh so the best uh suggestion was to make a scarecrow that's a great idea keeps birds away keeps wildlife away keeps foxes away hopefully scarecrow is an excellent idea so I'm going to make a scarecrow today bet you're glad you tuned in now aren't you right let's do this it'll be fun this is good right how do I make a scarecrow what I'm thinking is two sticks dig it in tie it on old coat on it head right easy let's do that let's do that right I'm going to use these poles because I think these are just the best poles to use oh it's got windy again bloody wind um and I'm going to put him just by the pond there so the fox you can see him so I'm going to do that I'm going to film it from a distance I need some twine oh twine is such a lifesaver guys it fixes absolutely everything including wall barrows apparently right I'm going to I'm going to tie this together I'll show you I hope you can see uh can you see the pond from there yes right okay let's do this oh blatant door sorry all right stay just stay just stay like that that is my basic scarecrow structure jesus christ can I help what am I doing right that's the structure it's going to I promise it'll look like a scarecrow when I put coat on him all right let's put coat on him gosh oh yes people this is really happening dancing scarecrow if my neighbors didn't think I was potty they're gonna think I am now aren't they wait till you see wait till you see what I've got for the head more realistic oh I don't know how smart foxes are but um maybe he needs some ice on it all right I've made it quite angry menacing watch I put my hat on him seemed like such a clever idea last night when I'd had a few gins I was like oh that's such a clever idea no it's just bloody stupid looks a bit more realistic doesn't it that's time one here he is he is looking very menacing um guarding my plot oh god I don't know if I can leave him there if I'm just gonna be too embarrassed when everyone turns up I don't know I mean if it works what a genius what genius idea but people gonna walk past this people gonna walk past that what the hell is that oh god oh I don't know why I'm like this I don't know why this has happened to me I don't know why I think of these things but I do I do right while I'm here I might just see if I can go and grab one more wheelbarrow of sawdust because because um yeah I just might as well um I don't want to be here that long because uh I just feel like lots of people are going to turn up and um it's not really self-isolating though I've been self-isolating my whole life like consciously but um right let's see if the wheelbarrow is going to hold up and the answer is no the wheelbarrow did not survive I got halfway and had to carry it the whole way back luckily there's no one here oh god what's he doing he's falling down it's not strong enough to hold him up oh god I thought I would give you a little pond update um nothing's died nothing's died so it's always good when nothing dies isn't it this one seems to be lit it's green it looks alive that one there that looks alive and the iris looks alive I think it needs to go deeper I think you're right it doesn't look right there I can even I can tell that it don't look that doesn't seem right as well why has the water gone down oh god I thought that was a frog jesus christ oh god he had a heart attack bloody hell I thought I was a freaking frog I thought that rock was a frog oh god he jumped out my bloody skin then oh god's sake oh god that scarecrow scared the crap out of me then it's a bloody person on the plot oh that's good actually that's exactly what I want ah with a bit of a floppy head but okay floppy head syndrome and the tree thank you for watching the vlog today I hope you enjoyed it hope it made you smile take your mind off all the crap um if you did subscribe to my channel please do not watch my videos thinking that these are tutorials if you watch a couple of these videos and think that they are tutorials you are very very mistaken because nothing I do at this plot should be copied by anybody else or shows that I know what I'm doing if it makes any sense I can't even talk yeah I'm just blumbling along and the idea of these vlogs was basically I created them to be an online diary for myself I didn't expect anybody else to watch them like obviously otherwise I wouldn't put such crazy content up but um I'm just literally documenting this for myself so for the swearing I do apologize I am sorry I'm gonna try and stop swearing so much but at the same time I didn't expect anyone to watch them and so I'm just literally being myself and just talking and I'm barely editing them I'm just cutting them all together and I'm bugging them up um but I will try and cut it out a little bit because I think it's like more people are watching it now and I'm getting a little bit self-conscious and stuff and some of the comments I'm kind of taking to heart now a little bit more um and also what else was I gonna say oh god yeah but they're mainly they're mainly just being filmed for entertainment purposes just to put up in an online diary for myself so I hope that they inspire you to get gardening because you don't have to be a bloody expert to do this obviously look what I've achieved this whole plot was covered in blackberry bushes the entire thing from front to back and I have literally just chopped them down yanked all the bloody roots up mulched it over dug it over put some raised beds up out floorboards I mean it could not be simpler I mean it was hard work don't get me wrong but this is what I've managed to achieve basically through no like gardening proper gardening experience other than just sowing a few tomatoes at home once a year so honestly it's possible you can do it you can do it even if you've got a small backyard and just do it get get stuck in and now is the perfect time to be getting out in the garden and doing stuff because it's so good for your mental health and it's just something to do isn't it it's fun do it it's good I hope
