EMMA'S ALLOTMENT DIARIES / APRIL 2020 / IT'S GROWING!!

Hi everyone, welcome back to my channel. If you're new around here my name is Emma. These are my allotment diaries. This is my first ever allotment plot and I'm basically just trying to show you the highs and the lows of gardening in a very real honest way. I don't hold back and I show you exactly what's going on. I've got very little gardening knowledge and anyone who's a regular viewer will know that I do not have a lot of knowledge but I am a hard worker and I am determined to do my best for this plot. So I'm here today with my kids It's a really lovely sunny day. I just wanted to thank you all first of all for all of the supportive comments on my last vlog You're all so nice and I'm really sorry if I'm not replying to all of your comments as well. I'm going to do my best to get back to everyone ASAP. It's just I've got a lot going on right now and I'm getting more comments than I ever thought I ever would to be honest. But I will get back to you all and thank you so much for every comment. Sorry it's so windy I'm really thankful for it all. So back at the plot here we go We'll start with a pond update because it's always a good update to do. I'm going to stand around here because my shadow is going to kill you. Somebody said about basically I put this bucket over this right sorry it just got really windy yeah somebody told me that light still goes through this bucket because it's white so I put my coat over it as well and I hope that it's kind of like a double whammy and it keeps the light out and then just kills the the thing look at this it's that wasp oh god there's a wasp hang on I want to see if he um oh look he's landing on the stick fantastic oh shit oh he got out oh god he came near me he got out he got out he sort of used the stick but then he got out that's good he didn't perish in the pond of doom excellent news right the pond's looking really good you know I'm actually really happy with it to be honest oh it's so windy today I'm so sorry yeah it's looking really good it sort of looks it looks very nature-like doesn't it very natural do you know what I mean do you know what I mean it looks like a pond that's been designed for nature um I'm quite happy with it it's got loads of rocks in it sticks stuff yeah and also look at my um irises coming up there aren't they so beautiful well not beautiful but like you know what I mean they're growing it's good that they're growing oh god I just put my bloody hand in the bloody pond also these are coming up really well now um these are the um calendula calendula calendula flowers they're all coming up really really really nicely really really happy with my question with the poppies now so I have a lot of questions as you know is do I have to thin them out because obviously when I did it I just scattered hundreds of them um but look they're really thick together I don't know if I should be thinning them out now I don't know if it's best to let them to like thin them out or just to let them fight to the death and decide which one's going to grow or whatever because isn't that the natural thing isn't that what would happen in nature wouldn't one just grow and overpower the west I don't know I don't know what to do so do I give them a helping hand or do I leave them to it please say leave them to it because I can't bloody be bothered what's this what's this bee is that bee I think that's a bee they like it they sort of hover around it like they're not sure all right so in here I've got the spinach spinach is doing amazing I don't know if you're going to be able to see it to be honest oh look you can look you can see it's doing amazing because that's in a row and that's where I scattered the seeds it's amazing isn't it that they grow again do I need to thin them out or do I just leave them I don't know and the carrots I know I don't have to thin them out yet um but yeah all the carrots coming up don't know if you can see them either because I've got this bloody chicken wire over it but yeah they're all coming up so I've got more and more of this stuff coming up bindweed where I haven't um weeded it properly so I've just got to keep yanking that crap out which is really annoying and I don't really know what the alternative is to be honest for this here this must be swiss chard coming out oh look oh my god I can't believe that that's red and that's yellow jesus that is literally like that is swiss chard isn't it I didn't know that they came up the color they're gonna be oh my god that's so exciting that's good and here's the beetroots coming up I did plant it in rows but for some reason it's sort of coming up all over the place unless they're weeds don't know I think that's a that's a beetroot isn't it that's got to be beetroot that not sure looks like a weed to me and that is that's a beetroot and that I don't know I don't know I just have to wait for those I think wait a little bit longer for those swiss chard is pretty exciting now I didn't know that they came up the color that they're going to be um I love them I've never grown that before so that's really exciting for that but this bed is looking alive I mean I don't know if it's going to catch on camera but look so much living stuff in this bed it's amazing I said the bindweed that can piss off so the sweet corn I've moved to over here because it's more sunny and I've just basically put that on it I don't know that oh that's on the glass okay but nothing's happening with that so far you won't be surprised to hear won't be surprised to hear nothing's happening with it um I keep watering it every day but it keeps drying out obviously because it's really hot so I don't know are you all right something was chasing me something was chasing you do you mean a bee yeah okay they don't really chase you though do they yeah but I was holding flowers right okay all right now I'm sure it wasn't chasing you don't worry about it I still know my love of nature is rubbing off on the kids right little pea update they are doing so bloody amazing it's been literally two days guys and they have grown probably like an inch an inch and a half it's absolutely insane how much they've grown this one look at this one he's come out of nowhere um yeah this doesn't seem to be a problem anymore the bottom leaves and now they're just growing really really well some of you did warn me that um mice eat them yes I mean I've never seen a mouse here I think it's probably more like to be a bird because um I've never seen a mouse around here and also really mice I really I don't want to contend with that thought in my head but yeah so some of them got eaten I've also pushed some more seeds in the ground and watered seeds in so that hopefully I get sort of like new ones what's that **** is that oh god it's a bit of tree in here what is that in there what's that got in there anyway yes I pushed some more seeds in so hopefully I get another harvest because I love these peas I'm so excited about peas and in this side I shrivel around look these are doing great they're bloody clinging on guys look at that look at that that's actually clinging on it's actually clinging on itself it's amazing I love them I love these things these things are so exciting but yeah they've grown so big I mean I'm just I'm so happy with my peas I could literally sit here and just watch the peas all day is that really sad does anybody else feel that way about something they grow I mean I literally when I get my first pea on it I'm gonna like I'm gonna crap myself I can't I'm so excited I grew that from a bloody seed bloody seed look at them madness madness isn't it here onions onions freaking growing people look at this look at that now I was like worried that they were all like flopping over and stuff and like just not growing like straight like everyone else's they just they've come into their own now they are literally they're just amazing I could just stare at those all day as well to be honest move over tulips onions are in town now I'm gonna water some of my plants now and it won't come as any surprise to you to know that I've broken my bloody watering can the top's come off of it and I can't even find it now because I did have it so I'm gonna have to sort of spray water everything with my hands god sakes does your stuff at your plot keep breaking as much as my stuff breaks everything breaks at my plot what are you doing that christ sakes right guys I hope you enjoyed my little vlog today it was more of like an update vlog I'm just here to water stuff and check on stuff and that but I wanted to get a video up for you I've got my greenhouse going up soon I'm going to have the tomatoes and cucumbers going out pretty soon I think probably too soon but there you go and yeah so I have more like stuff to show you and fingers crossed the sweetcorn does come up soon if not I think I might start some more at home um just as like a backup plan I'm also gonna have the pumpkins going in towards the end of May so I'm gonna have like more stuff to do but I just wanted to make sure I had a video up for you guys um if you're not following me on Instagram I'd love for you to go below and follow me I'd
