The Resiners: The traditional method of obtaining pine resin

Tapping the trunk of a pine tree to get the sap, which is then turned into resin, is the traditional way to get pine resin. This process is typically performed on pine trees that are at least 10 years old and can continue to produce resin for many years.

After being exploited for their wealth for two millennia in this country, there were very few Pinus Pinaster wooded regions that were still being exploited in 1995. This was the case despite the fact that there were many such locations. One of them may be found in the region known as Tierra de Pinares, which is in the province of Segovia. There, among all of its woodland mass, the chimney of the Zarzuela del Pinar factory betrayed an activity that was still alive among its people.
