ENTRETIEN EXCLUSIF AVEC ARSÈNE WENGER AU CENTRE DE PERFORMANCE DE LA TURBIE - AS MONACO

It's already a pleasure to be back in Monaco I was still here as a coach for 7 years so I have excellent memories I see the rock of La Turbie there it makes me happy I also see that the fields have improved that's very very good The title of French champion when I arrived because I was a young coach I am 37 years old 36 years old this is the first time I have won a major title I think we have always ended up in the top 3 for 7 years except for the last one So were always in the top three went to the European Cup final went to the Champions League semi-finals So before I arrived here Monaco had a history of not advancing past the first round So were able to start the European era which then continued The coaches before me were followed by outstanding performances in Europe The arrival of Glenn Hoddle here or George Weah who is coming from Africa Where everyone is asking "Who is this guy " and who is now the president of his country Because it shows both all that football can offer a player and how football can help develop people's personalities This was the pride of representing the principality when we played And I think the players shared that too They were aware that playing for Monaco is no small thing You represent something special Behave with a certain sense of class and do not be mediocre And that gave them a form of responsibility in their behavior and attitude I think that refusing to be mediocre is a very important thing when you are a football player I think the rest of Europe hasn't realized yet that French teams are hard to play against I think they have a good card to play Monaco one must not forbid ambition This is a team that can aim to go all the way But above all she must give everything to return to the Champions League Maybe the one who made his debut in the French team like Youssoufa Moukoko whom we follow I also follow players like Fabregas because I saw him come to Arsenal at 17 So I follow them with a lot of tenderness little Diop too I really like watching the emergence of young players Of course I know all the Ben Yedder and Voland But the young players Monaco has a tradition Monaco looking back 40 years has always produced young players I really like seeing what the next talent is who the next guy is coming out of this academy with such a story So that interests me Also I feel there is real potential in this team She needs to become aware of it and develop it until the end of the season First I would like to thank them for supporting me during these times And I would especially like to encourage them to follow their team Because I really liked the fact that Monaco now outside brings people in That wasn't the case when I was there They have managed to create a spirit the Monaco fans I am really happy And I strongly encourage them to further expand the movement
