Hello friends
This is my latest video. It's a documenting a recent trip. I did
accrued on a yacht delivery from
Puerto Rico to North Carolina
Ended up being by way of Bermuda due to a storm
so this is
That trip took us seven days to get from
Puerto Rico to
Bermuda and
then five days from
Bermuda to the Outer Banks, North Carolina
As I mentioned we were
sailing from Puerto del Rey
direct to the Outer Banks and
we're about two days from landfall and
commander weather service
Contacted us and said if you can't make it by tomorrow night. You need to run for Bermuda due to a storm
So we turned and ran for Bermuda, which ended up being really really cool and
Spent a day in Bermuda let the weather pass over us and then headed back out and
Pushed on for the Outer Banks, so this video documents that as best as possible
I hope you enjoy it if you like it, please subscribe and
Enjoy
We pushed off at around 11 a.m.
And made our way to the fuel dock where we topped off our tanks fill up our 12 jerrycans
Stowed them and made our way out
The cunning plan is a 45-foot
Dufour it has a in-mast furling system and a temporary interforest day
Which you'll see us rig up later in the trip. She's a beautiful and fast ship in the right conditions
We don't miss the rivet when the boat was over
The boy says way all the way we will always you
way
soon we were
rounding Cape San Juan and
Making our way into the Atlantic Ocean
Down in New Orleans get a big ship driving over to Mexico
Boys this way all the way we'll always you
Down in New Orleans up Canal Street
Get a boys trying way all the way we'll always you
Way all the way we'll all but better
Way all the way we'll always you be shiny boys
Way all the way we'll always you
When the boys all get tight and some of them don't give down
Way all the way
All the way you
Way all the way we'll all for better
Way all the way we'll always you
By far my favorite
Watch shift was the 3 a.m. To 6 a.m. Shift you get the Sun rises all to yourself
It was quiet and beautiful and the flying fish were very active in the mornings
Every time I saw one it was it was like the first time I'd seen them
They'd fly to the water flapping furiously and then glide above the waves
Truly just a obvious step of evolution that we were getting to experience
We were blessed with the trade winds as sailors have been for centuries
It kept us between you know, five and seven knots. Sometimes it'd be less sometimes more but
It was really really a blessing
Considering our engines stopped working
About the second day out and we would only run it to charge up our batteries
There's no way to describe the feeling of being that far from land. I
wasn't sure if I would have anxiety about it or
what my feelings would be but
It just felt completely peaceful and I really felt at home there
Pick up in the morning love and the sunlight hurts my
Something without one bears heavy on my
Then I look at you
And the world's all right with me
Just one look at you
And I know it's gonna be
When the day that lies ahead
Seemed impossible to fit
Someone else instead of me always seems to know the way
Then I look at you and the world's all right with me
Just one look at you and I know it's gonna be
And
When the day that lies ahead of me
Seemed impossible to fit
Someone else instead of me always seems to know the way
Then I look at you
Just one look at you and I know it's gonna be
On the 16th of June, we got an urgent email from our weather routing service
commander weather
Telling us of a storm that was heading our way
That had come off the east coast and out of the Chesapeake
They told us that if we couldn't make it to the Outer Banks, North Carolina in the next 24 hours that we needed to turn
And run from Bermuda immediately
so
Captain changed course and we ran for Bermuda contacting our friends and family of our decision and
soon
we had 10 to 15 foot following seas and
Ran dead downwind for two days till we made landfall in Bermuda
I'll see the stars come out of the sky
Yeah, the bright and hollow sky
You know, it looks so good tonight
Passenger I stay under glass
I look through my window so bright
As we fought our way into the
Channel in Bermuda our engine begging to give out the captain did a fabulous job of
persuading it to to get us in we were surrounded by reefs and had the anchor at ready and
It was a very narrow channel
we had to navigate and
everyone at customs was
super nice really amazing
And they let us tie up across to the old ferry dock for free
for the night and
The next day we had the entire day to explore
Bermuda while the captain found a mechanic and he came out and
Worked on the engine until about 10 p.m. And
We got the fuel filter situation worked out so that we would have it as a
Auxiliary on our way from there to North Carolina
spent the day
hiking in a park
Bluehole Park, I believe was called exploring the limestone caves and caverns and
Watching parrotfish and a variety of different
exotic fish swimming around in the different pools and
In the protected sound near st. George's
It was unique to feel like you were walking in a small village in Scotland
but know that you were in the middle of the Atlantic and
First thing next morning we pushed off and headed for North Carolina
The I'll tell you how
The clouds above
Midday on the 21st of June we came across an adrift sailing vessel
The captain saw it first and was confused as to why it appeared
There was a wave breaking in the middle of the ocean
So he got the binoculars and we watched it and as we grew closer
We could see that the stern pulpit was peeking out of the water and that it was a half sunk adrift vessel
As we got alongside it
we called out and blew our air horn and
No one answered. We could see that it was dismasted and
Had some barnacles growing on the deck. So it had been there for a minute
Can't see the whole number, but it says
Pogo
8-3-0
We contacted Bermuda Sea Rescue
they thanked us for the call and
Said that it had been reported once before but they didn't have much information about it
it was really eerie to see a
Vessel adrift out at sea like this
We just hope that
Whoever was skippering it and on board
Made it off safely
If you're watching this and you know anything about this
Vessel, I would love to find out more
The Atlantic was born today and I'll tell you how
The clouds above
Standing on the surface
Filled every hole
Thousands upon thousands made an ocean making islands where no
Island should go
They took to their boat
Nice like
It seems
Before
The defore being a very flat-bottomed boat if you were
beating into headseas it was
Not the most comfortable vessel a lot of the times it felt like we were inside a snare drum
I've edited a few clips together and some of them repeating to show effect
But it was really it felt like your teeth were out of your head when it would slam down
While these clips are edited for dramatic effect it gives a better
feeling of what it was like in inside the ship and poor Eve was
Trying he slept in the Bieber through a lot of it
I'm not sure how but eventually it got too bad and we took turns hot bunking on our
Watch rotation as we approach the North Carolina coast. We got a fun little show from a fighter jet
We had heard the military on the radio
telling some
some vessel
To divert their course for one hour's time due to military exercises
Luckily, we just got a show
Making our way under the bridge at Oregon Inlet. We were excited to
finally be coming home and
the captain had all the printouts of
The recent dredging and and all the charts and everything you can imagine
Because it was it's a really tricky thing to navigate the moving sandbanks in the Oregon Inlet and and the North Carolina Coast
We made our way through and we were just shy of one of the buoys and we ran aground and
in the efforts to
Get us off the sandbank. We lost our rudder
so
Within an hour or so of being being in and tied up at the marina
Now we had to drop anchor and wait for Cito. I
Felt so bad for the captain. We're so close to home after so many days
Cito showed up
tried to figure out how to tow a vessel with no rudder which took a couple of attempts in different ways and
Finally we were making our way to the marina and the boatyard that was going to be repairing
I can't thank the captain enough for having me on board to crew for this delivery
wonderful crew and
Really beautiful experience. I hope you enjoyed the video
She says way all the way
