Making our way to the Akusa temple.
Again I thought this would be off somewhere not in the middle of the city, but guess what?
Right in the middle of the city and it looks super crowded.
I'm excited to see what this is all about.
Not just a religious spot, she said sometimes they want their spirituality and their shopping
or their food.
Here we are at the main gate of the Akusa temple ground.
Again, it's right in the heart of Tokyo and there's everything.
This is a religious area, it's a shopping area, and then right across the street there's
like a Denny's and a 7-Eleven.
So yeah, it's pretty wild.
There's Don.
What do you think Don?
Is this the busiest place you've ever been at one time?
It's pretty close.
Rio during Carnival is pretty busy though.
Yeah, I do think this is the busiest spot.
Even in New York City, I think this has got it beat.
And of course, like a moth to a flame, I found the Starbucks.
No time for coffee, we're on a tight schedule, but I did have to go check it out.
Pretty modern looking Starbucks right here at the Akusa temple.
Now we're going to walk through 90 shops and a million people to get back to the temple
ground.
Here we go.
So this is the Akusa temple ground.
What's interesting is the pagoda over here, the tour guide said that Sri Lanka had gifted
this pagoda, it's now stored at the very top, but some of the ash of the Buddha.
So after the Buddha passed, he was cremated, and some of the ash must have beaten path.
Someone.
There's a lot of people on this offbeat path.
So we're still in the area around the temple ground.
It's just row after row of shop and restaurant.
Very bustling.
I thought the street in Osaka was busy, but very busy here.
Think we can navigate a little sushi restaurant?
So I'm kind of excited, we did get an opportunity to stop and get sushi here in Tokyo.
So we will be trying Tokyo sushi, sushi in Japan.
So just a cool little restaurant right here at the Akusa temple ground.
Alright, that was pretty amazing.
So sushi in Japan, sushi in Tokyo, it was really good.
Don, what did you think?
I never had one of those before.
Yes.
It was rice, pork, egg, and onions, noodles, it was excellent.
It was really good food.
So hot, too.
Such a cool place.
Yeah, so pretty amazing end to the excursion here at the temple and the temple grounds.
So many people here.
There's people here for spiritual reasons, there's people here for tourism, there's people
here because this is a popular place to come in Japan for people.
It's a Saturday, so it's the off day.
It's a melding of things and it all feels really special, so pretty cool way to finish
the last stop in Japan here in Tokyo.
So we're going to head back to the ship.
