Dr. Drossman is a gastroenterologist. What makes him so unique as a physician is his specialty in the field of psychology. He is a pioneer in educating practitioners in active listening and patient centered care for the treatment of functional GI disorders.
His academic credentials speak for themselves. Dr. Drossman is President of the Center for Education and Practice of Biopsychosocial Patient Care at UNC Chapel Hill. He runs a flourishing private practice called Drossman gastroenterology. He is also president of the Rome Foundation and former co-director of the UNC Center for Functional Gastrointestinal and Motility Disorders.
