All right, y'all make no mistake.
She's the most important person in this studio.
Nicole Talbert, representing the accounting firm,
Ernst & Young, carries with her the names of
the 14 all-star reserves in this briefcase.
Thank you so much, Nicole.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
No problem.
Those reserves named by the NBA's 30 head coaches.
I'm going to turn this this way.
So that we don't have anything happen.
Oh, there we go. They're in there.
I love this night.
Every year, I love this night.
This is exciting because, obviously,
the fans are going to always take the most popular guys.
But the guys who are surprises, man,
that to me is what this night is about.
And this is the coaches.
This is coaches voting for players in their own conference.
And seven on each side.
And I've said enough.
I think it's time that we get into this.
And I'll spread the wealth here.
You always do, Ernie. Thank you.
Last week, it did not go over.
Adam Lefkoe always does an outstanding job.
He was trying to be self-explanatory.
Adam Lefkoe was to the left.
Would you give this to Charles Barkley, please?
You ready?
Yeah, let's go.
First name is?
Joel Embiid.
Yes, indeed.
Joel Embiid.
His sixth straight All-Star selection.
Leading scorer in the league, 33 points a night,
10 rebounds, 4 assists, shooting 53%.
Number one in scoring, number 11 in boards,
has 27 games of at least 30 points.
That's 27 games in the 38 he has played.
So, Joel Embiid, congratulations.
All-Star reserve from the East.
Ooh, yes, indeed. I want to hope I got somebody.
You know what's crazy? We ain't even seen him.
People act like we know him in advance.
In years past, we did, but not anymore.
Ooh, DeMar DeRozan.
DeMar DeRozan of the Chicago Bulls
is an All-Star for the sixth time,
averaging 26, 5, and 5,
shooting 51%,
16 games of at least 30 points.
He's 15th in the league in scoring.
So, DeMar DeRozan.
Shout-out to my boy Mark Eversley of the Bulls.
Okay. Yes.
Shout-out.
Very important to get that out there at this point.
I'll just take the third since we're going in order right here.
No problem.
No, no, we go 1, 2, 3.
Don't go 1, 2, 4, 3.
All right.
From the Boston Celtics, Jalen Brown.
Oh, yes.
That's an easy pick.
Absolutely an easy pick.
And for a guy who's averaging a career-high 27,
also a career-high 7 rebound.
27?
Shooting 49%, which is a career-high,
14th in the league in scoring.
And the Boston Celtics, of course,
with the best record in the biz at 37 and 15.
27th and 14th.
Dr. O'Neal.
Thank you, sir.
No, he said 20.
Did he say 27?
27.
27 and 14.
Defense is optional.
I'll tell you.
From the Miami Heat, Bam Adebayo.
Bam Adebayo.
Congratulations, Bam.
His second All-Star selection in this, his sixth season.
21, 10, and 3, shooting 54%.
He's had double digits in 63 straight games.
Number 2 in the league in points in the paint per game behind Giannis.
He's 12th in rebounds.
Miami is plus 129 when he is on the floor,
minus 113 when he is off the floor.
Bam Adebayo.
Maybe they should play him more.
Give this to Charles, if you would, please.
Thank you, brother.
This is getting interesting here.
It is.
Wow.
Drew Holiday.
Yes!
From the Milwaukee Bucks.
As a matter of fact, you have the second-best record in the Eastern Conference.
Here's Drew Holiday.
19 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists.
He's played in 40 of the Bucks' 51 games.
Did I film on him?
This is his second.
You haven't played enough to get filmed?
You filmed one of them.
Oh, Fiorello, man.
Drew Holiday plays for the Bucks.
Oh, man.
Oh, Fiorello.
You know what's great?
Sorry about that, Drew.
Second All-Star selection, 14th season.
His first All-Star since 2013.
We should have been more.
In Philadelphia.
We should have been more.
You're one of the best players in this league.
Congratulations to Drew Holiday.
Here you go, Jet.
Yes, indeedy.
Take your time, Kenny, so we can go through the Miami first.
Okay, listen.
We should have every player take one.
Please, upstairs.
I know that's Steve Fiorello up there.
Turn the volume up, too.
From the New York Knicks, Julius Randle.
Julius Randle is an All-Star again.
His second selection, 25, 11, and 4.
He's played in all 52 games for the New York Knicks.
Leads the East in double-doubles.
20th in scoring, 7th in rebounds.
3rd in double-doubles and has the most in the East.
And so, Julius Randle is an All-Star.
I'm going to give you the last one.
Oh, this is the last one?
For the East.
Wow.
Go ahead.
No, I'd like you to do it.
Sure?
Yes, without question.
Without question.
Who will be the 7th reserve for the East?
From the Indiana Pacers, Tyrese Halliburton.
Very nice and well-deserved for Tyrese Halliburton,
who leads the NBA in assists.
Since he's been out, the Pacers have gone 1 and 9.
He's got 24 games of at least 10 assists.
Leads the league, as I said.
20 points, 4 rebounds, 10 assists,
shooting 48% from the field, 40% from deep.
And Tyrese Halliburton rounds it out for the reserves
from the Eastern Conference.
I don't want to.
Number one, congratulations to all these guys.
I'm kind of shocked Jaylon Bronson didn't make it.
That was a question.
Would there be two New York Knicks on there
and would Bronson and Randle both make it?
I don't even look at it like that.
I think this is one of the best free agent signings
in a long time.
Congratulations to all those guys.
I'm not saying take anybody off,
but I thought Jaylon Bronson deserved to make this team.
Look at some of these other names that we're used to seeing.
Trey Young was a starter last year.
He's averaging 27 and 10.
He is not on there.
Looking at Pascal Siakam, James Harden.
I think there were a lot of possibilities.
None of those Knack games, the guys you mentioned
should have been on that team before Jaylon Bronson.
I think those three.
Jaylon Bronson, for sure, has a very good case.
But when New York, you're the seventh seed,
it's hard to get two players from a seventh seed.
But he definitely was deserving
because they hadn't been where they are without him
before they knew Heights.
And yeah, James Harden, man.
James Harden is a...
Without James Harden, I don't know how good Philadelphia is.
And this is one of those conversations
we're going to have for the rest of our lives.
As long as we're working here,
every year it's going to be two or three guys
who are surprised they didn't make it.
That's just how the cookie crumbles sometimes.
Yeah, I mean, it's Philadelphia 76ers.
Again, what Charles said, congratulations to those guys.
Congratulations to all those guys.
Every year we're going to have a name or two
that just didn't get voted in.
Let's take a look at how we thought things
were going to shake out.
The picks that we had for the seven reserves.
We all agreed on Jalen Brown, Jalen Brunson, and Joel Embiid.
So Brunson does not make it.
Jimmy Butler, no.
Adebayo made it from Miami.
Jimmy Butler did not.
I thought Pascal Siakam might make it too.
Look at that bottom line.
We all agreed on Jalen Brunson.
Come on, man.
That's tough for me because, man,
I'm just really pulling for that kid.
What he's done for the Knicks, I was just really pulling for that.
Next year, next year.
Or if somebody gets hurt.
Halliburton might not.
I don't know if he's playing.
Brunson averaging a career high 23,
like six more than his previous career high,
shooting 47%, 39% from deep.
The Knicks wouldn't be where they are right now, obviously.
Because they're a totally different team now.
They could actually win a round in the playoffs if they get the right matchup.
Yeah.
Well, that's interesting.
Those are seven interesting picks.
Congratulations, guys.
By the head coaches of the Eastern Conference.
Looking forward to it.
I guess we should go back to the old days and tell us in advance.
Too late.
Too late, Fiorello.
Yeah, it's too late now.
These aren't even like real highlights.
No music.
This is like something that I would do together at halftime or something.
Sleep at home, Fiorello.
Hey, hey, hey.
You know what?
We should tell us in advance for now so we can at least get some tape.
You want me to run to the board?
Because that's one of my tapes from when I ran to the board.
Talking about Drew Holiday.
