German Folk Song: Der Mond ist Aufgegangen (Moon Rise)

This is one of the many common folk songs I remember from my childhood growing up in Southern Germany.

I played it on my little lap harp.

The sheet music is from a small booklet titled "Deutsche Volkslieder.” It contains 168 German folk songs, compiled by Ernst-Lothar von Knorr and published by Reclam Stuttgart.

My sister sent me the booklet years ago, and I cherish it. Singing the songs takes me back to the days in the 50s and 60s when life was more simple and traditional, with less technology. I've always loved singing and being in nature.
