Good morning everyone or hello everyone I don't know why I say good morning
um I've just weed in a bucket and it's still in here Jesus Christ
oh don't judge me there's nowhere else to go
right Sid the spider's back he's right behind me
I mean behind you flipping heck I'm gonna have to keep an eye on him
welcome to my allotment diaries my name is Emma these are my allotment
diaries um it's a really nice day today it's
kind of rainy and showery but nice weather yesterday was
particularly windy and um it came from out of nowhere because
I didn't know it was going to be a windy day
so I've rushed down the plot this morning it's 8am no one's here
thank god and um I've come to check on everything now my gladiolus are the
ones that are really suffering because I haven't staked them
some of the sunflowers are done now and I've cut the heads off of them
so I'm going to use the stakes and sunflowers to stake the gladiolus
because I don't want any further damage to them
they are beautiful by the way um I'm literally cutting flowers every
single day at the plot now I've got two paint cans in here I've got two
paint cans outside I can't keep taking them all home
because there's just so many of them I don't have enough vases
but I'm just overjoyed with them they are just I mean look at these dahlias
they are just stunning um this is like a pom-pom
dahlia variety they are just gorgeous just got absolute joy
to grow look at this one it's just beautiful
so I'm picking those I'm picking loads of sweet peas as well
it's not as bad as this one yeah picking loads of sweet peas so it's really
exciting I'm gonna pick some more snap peas today I'm also
gonna go and get some more wood chip today to finish some of my paths because
no one's here and I know there's been a wood chip
delivery so I'm gonna go and try and grab some of that with my
very dodgy wheelbarrow so yes I hope you enjoy
um let me just take you on a little July plot tour I think I haven't done one of
those yet so I'm gonna do a little July plot tour
oh Sid what are you doing to me mate there he is
just under my calendar oh god why is he there guys why is this
happening to me is it bloody warm there's no flies in
so these are the flowers that I've managed to put these are the zinnias
which I put in a little bucket and this is a mix of pom-pom dahlias and some
sweet peas as well in this one here and then I've cut off the sunflower
heads because they were sort of weighing the flower down and I think they're done
now so I'll let the birds have them and also
I'll wait for the seeds I think there might be seeds in there
I don't really know how it works yet guys but I'll figure it out
um so some of these are sort of headless now which looks a bit weird
also just wanted to show you the weird sunflower it is growing another
sunflower within the sunflower what the hell is this
mutant sunflower doing guys it's absolutely crazy it's lost the
plot so it's literally growing another sunflower
in the middle of the sunflower I mean the bees would be happy surely
because it's like double whammy but yeah very very odd
very strange but then does it really surprise you that
flowers are mutating in my plot no no it doesn't these are my strawberries
here at the beginning of the plot as well
um and if you remember from my last vlog I
started putting them into pots some of the runners um and they've started to
grow roots there he is there's this little root so
it's obviously working which is excellent I've got
a couple here that one's fallen over again christ sakes
so it's working this is rocket that I've allowed to go to seed
now I need to capture some of those seeds I don't know how to do it
please tell me how to do it but basically all the rocket has gone to
seed don't know that's it really so here's a
little overview of my wonderful allotment plot so here's
some cosmos growing here and then behind the cosmos
I've got broccoli which is doing quite well now
actually oh shit except I'm gonna kill it with that aren't I
oh god this is to stop the pigeons eating it but
it's no it's just getting in the way a bit
I don't know what to do about it really but yeah that's the broccoli
um some of the carrots have come up a lot of them have been eaten by slugs but
hey and then we've got sally here she looks
after the broccoli she doesn't do a very good job but don't
you don't really do very much um this is my second batch of sunflowers
which is just coming up really nicely really doing really well they're not
going to be as tall as the first batch but hey
what can you do um this is lettuce which I've just allowed to
keep growing forever I don't really know what happens to lettuce I'm hoping it's
going to flower so I can collect some seed because I've run out of lettuce
seeds and that's my plan but I don't know when
it will these are my runner beans um they're
growing up really tall now they're taking care of themselves
properly just taking care of themselves um some of them have been eaten
but I'm hopeful and then on this side here I've got other
runner beans these are doing much better um and like I said just taking care of
themselves they're wrapping themselves around
yeah just sort of like sorting themselves out really so that's good
that's what I like to see at the plant plants taking care of themselves
this flower here this um is a dwarf sunflower and we've got new flowers
coming up which is really nice right walking further down
these are the snap peas planted these straight into the ground and they are
just literally coming in abundance now um which is amazing they're just growing
really well I just keep pushing them towards that and then they sort of hang
on so they're taking care of themselves as
well which again is just excellent and then we've got zinnias here which
I'm having to pick quite regularly now to make sure they keep flowering
um and these are the pumpkins I don't think they're really growing up
as such but I am getting massive pumpkins I'm really happy
they seem quite healthy some of them have gone a bit the leaves have gone a
bit discolored again but I'm trying not to worry about it I
don't really know what that means but the pumpkins seem okay so I'm not
bothered but look at this one flipping beast guys flipping beast I don't
know what the hell to do with it it's come out the sling
it's just its own it's just its own being now I don't know
I'm gonna have a lot of pumpkin soup that's all I'll say
um right where are we now the chard has gone to seed
as well which is excellent because I want to collect those seeds
beetroot I haven't pulled up for a while actually there might be some beetroot
there flipping it forgot about you guys I'm so
caught up with the pumpkins some of you might be ready to pull up
today be exciting cut flower bed is where the uh
gladiolus has sort of fallen over a bit I need to rescue these today I think
I really do yeah and then we've got the dahlias they're all right they're quite
happy they don't seem bothered in here we've
got the cabbages and the carrots and the
rocket all doing really well I'm not going to pull it up because I know the
all doing really well pepper's still doing nothing
and then at the end of the plot we've got the tomatoes which again you know
they're doing all right they're sort of getting tomatoes and stuff so I don't
know they seem all right and then I've got the little
marigold things here and then I've got sweet peas at the end
down there a little impromptu tour of the plot
let you know where I am right now and I'm going to go and grab some
wood chip now and finish the paths over here because I'm going to
have a fence eventually down here so I've started doing it down there
the wood chip and then I'm going to carry on it all the way to the front I
think that's the plan Batman all right
bring in as much smack them with a hammer bloody working
area gladiolus staked fingers crossed no more damage will be
had oh I do love a freshly laid wood chip
path it just makes me so happy because it
just instantly changes the plot doesn't it and just makes it look so much neater
and more manageable makes it look like it's been looked
after I'm gonna leave it there today I'm gonna just sit here for a bit
actually and just enjoy my plot I don't do that enough
and I was watching Gardeners World last week
and Monty Don was saying Monty Don was saying about how
don't forget to just sit and enjoy your garden and just
look around and like just you know soak it all in and I just I don't
do that enough with my plot I get here and I'm like I've got a list
of stuff to do and I've still got weeding and the pond and
so much more to do but today I'm just going to sit here and I'm
just going to enjoy it for a bit I'm just going to look around and just
chill out so that's what I'm going to do and I would really urge you to do that
too to your plots if you're like me and
you're just a busy body all the time oh it's getting windy again hope you
enjoyed my vlog today if you did subscribe to my channel you can follow
