The Indus Valley Civilization, also called the Harappan Civilization, was one of the world’s first ancient civilizations. Emerging in 2500 BCE in the western part of South Asia, it spanned an area that stretched from what is now eastern Iran to Pakistan and included much of modern-day India, Afghanistan and Nepal.
