A WREATH OUT OF CHARD / EMMA'S ALLOTMENT VLOGMAS

Welcome to the first day of Vlogmas! God, I did not expect that to go on my nose! Let's try that again. Welcome to the first day of Vlogmas. Absolutely no bloody Bella. I'm gonna put those on my little tree I think actually, because the tree is looking a little bit sad. So I decided to decorate my plot, but it's not just for Vlogmas. My parents are also going to come and visit the plot. We're not going to do a Christmas at home this year because my mum is still in the vulnerable category and despite what the government says, because you can always trust them, can't you? We have decided to just stick with the outdoors. So they're going to come here. So I thought I'd make my shed a little bit festive, a little bit exciting. I've got the lights, I've got the tinsel, I've got a little tree that I brought, which is really fun. I mean, it's nice, isn't it? It's Christmassy. I'm very into Christmas this year. I think we all need it, don't we? Let's be honest. So to kick off my Vlogmas, which is 24 videos this month, I'm going to make a wreath for the front of my shed. Now, I have an idea because it's an allotment and I want to use as much natural stuff as I can. I don't want it to be artificial, which is why I hung the tinsel up because I was going to just put tinsel on the front and I thought, no, let's keep it like natural, like nature. So I've got some wire somewhere. I've got some wire. What I do is wire a circle and then what I'm going to do is get leaves and just thread hundreds and hundreds of leaves on here. God, that's going to take me ages. Okay, we're going to do that though because I think it's a good way of using the leaves and I've got loads of them on my plot. I don't have much green on my plot that I can cut. I did think about making like a chard one because I've got loads of chard. Actually, maybe that's a better idea. Should I use the chard? Have you ever seen a Christmas wreath made out of chard? Probably not. So maybe that's a reason to do it, to be honest. But that's what I'm going to do here today because I don't feel like digging or anything. And tomorrow I'm going to come back and plant some broad beans and stuff. But today it's just all going to be about Christmas festivities. So enjoy guys. Right, let's see if we can make some kind of wreath. Like everything that I do, this is probably not going to work. But you know what? You can only try. Guys, it's Christmas. It's Christmas. I can only try. Let's see if I can find some leaves. Bloody leaves have already started to decompose and stuff and like compost. So that's my idea out the window now. I'm going to have to make it with chard. This is going to be ridiculous. This is supposed to be a really easy, fun, first vlogmas and it's just going to be ridiculous. But we're going to try. All right, let's get some chard then. There's a good shout there. Do you know? Every time that bit of ground sheet there like flies up in the wind, I think it's a bloody cat or something or a fox in the plot and I jump out my skin. You see what I mean over there? Whenever it like blows up like that, I like jump. I'm like, oh my god, it's the cat. Like what's the cat going to do anyway? Why am I so scared of nature guys? Why? Let me see. Does it? Tell you what. Keep going with it and then I'll check back when they're all on. Maybe it'll look amazing. Who knows? Maybe it'd be a Christmas miracle. I don't know if this is looking better or not, but it sort of looks like that. So I think what I might do is put it up on the shed and then sort of finish it while it's on the door. So I don't really know how I'm going to get it on there. Oh god, shed's falling apart. Right, what I'll do is I'll staple gun some string. Tie the bloody wreath. I'm not sure. Do you think? I'm not sure about that at all. Oh god, as if my plot didn't look any more mental. Blooming heck. Right, pros, I've used stuff on the plot which I wanted to do. Pro, looks like a circle, sort of. If you look really hard and you squint a bit. Cons, it doesn't look like a Christmas wreath. I'm not sure how to make it look any more like a Christmas wreath. Don't know. Don't bloody know. I know people are arriving now, they're going to see it. So I just need to decide if it's something I want to be seen. Right, do you know what I mean? Like in public by other humans. I don't know. I don't know how to make it any better. That's the thing, I keep holding stuff up to it. But I'm just not good at this sort of thing. I mean, it's not the worst thing I've ever done at the plot, is it? Let's be honest. People have seen all sorts of things in this plot. So that's not going to shock them as such. But I just sort of wanted it to look all right. But I don't know. I don't know. I don't bloody know. Right, I think what I'm going to do is I'm going to harvest one of the cabbages today. I think it's cabbage harvest day. Because I think, well, you tell me. I'll have a look at them. You tell me if they're ready. I think they are ready. This one here is my smallest one. That's clearly not ready because that's hardly got a ball in it. This one's getting a ball in the middle. It's looking a bit more ready. But this one over here, I think this one's ready. But then again, I don't bloody know. Look, it's got like a ball in the middle and you can eat all that, surely? I mean, how big does a cabbage need to bloody be? Do you know what I mean? Like, I don't want to eat it if it's like massive, massive. I just want it to be sort of like... Are those cabbages ready? Is this cabbage ready for me to pick? And if you say yes on this vlog, I will pick it tomorrow. I just don't know. I just don't know if that's ready or not. So you tell me. But it looks... I mean, how much cabbage am I going to eat, you know? Right, I hope you enjoyed day one of Vlogmas. I'm going to be here every single day. So if you didn't, you know, try again tomorrow. I didn't really have much of a plan for today's filming. I just literally have written down a bit of paper. Introduce Vlogmas. Decorate the shed. So that's what I sort of did.
