What's up guys, I'm Hype,
and this video is sponsored by Skillshare.
But more on that later on this video.
My name's Connor Hill,
play third slash pitcher, class of 2021.
Play at Tuscaloosa University,
and this is a day in my life.
Well, I've pretty much played every sport
since I could walk, and baseball was included.
And I really started playing competitive baseball
whenever I was like,
probably going to the middle school.
So about 11, 12 was whenever I really started
like focusing on it.
And I mean, I just, I was good at it.
And I was like, I didn't want to play any other sports.
So I just focused on baseball.
Well, I picked Tuscaloosa University
because Coach Steele over there,
he's just a cool dude.
He said that I remind him of him
whenever he was my age.
And it feels like home.
Campus is kind of small.
It's more of a tight knit community.
So everyone knows everybody
and the field is gorgeous.
And it's just, that's just amazing to me.
It feels like home.
My recruiting process was kind of weird at first
because going into junior year,
I actually committed to Wake Tech Community College first.
And then I decommitted because of COVID
and I didn't know how everything was going to play out.
And I called Tuscaloosa, I called Coach Steele
and we talked for like an hour
and he wanted me to come on a visit.
So I went on a visit, I sent him a lot of video
and it was just, it just kicked from there.
It was really a no brainer for me.
I feel like my greatest strength
is definitely my knowledge of the game.
I feel like I know the game pretty well
and my attitude.
I'm pretty, I'm pretty happy go lucky kinda.
You know, if I strike out four times,
you know, I'm gonna be a little mad at first
but then I just try and pick myself up,
pick everybody else up.
And also my power.
I feel like my bat's got a lot of juice
and I can help score some runs.
And then my weakness I'd have to say is my speed for sure.
I mean, I'm a big guy.
I move pretty well for a big guy
but I feel like I can still work on that and get faster.

Now let's get back to the episode.
My top three favorite players
would have to be Mike Trout, for sure.
Definitely Otani, he's exciting to watch
and Jacob deGrom, it's like watching
someone who's not human pitch and hit, it's ridiculous.
I definitely have, before every game,
I go and get Subway.
Doesn't matter if it's away, if it's home,
it's gotta be Subway,
I gotta get a spinach wrap with three cookies.
That's gotta happen.
And then before I go up to the play,
I always tell myself I'm better than the pitcher
and I'm just, I'm the best one on the field
and I can do it.
That's pretty much the only rituals I got.
My biggest thing is don't worry about the guy next to you.
I mean, yeah, there's gonna be guys that are better than you,
there's gonna be guys that are going to bigger,
better schools, but you ain't really gotta worry about that.
Just, in my opinion, just email coaches, call coaches.
The more you call them, the better,
because they'll see that you want to actually
go to their program, not just emailing you.
And just work hard.
I mean, take as much video as you can.
More hitting videos you send on Twitter
and you send to coaches, the better.
That's how I got recruited.
That's how I feel like it's starting to turn into
with the whole COVID and videos
and coaches not being able to go out and stuff.
Oh my God!
Oh!
87.
89.
Clip deck.
There we go.
Might be over.
I'm not throwing you another one.
All right, so we started off the day at 11 a.m.
in the DPC batting cages.
We got some tee work in, got some front toss,
got a little bit of overhand.
Then after that, about 12-ish,
we went to the weight room at DPC,
did a little leg day, did some back squats,
front squats, goblin squats,
did a little bit of lunges and RDLs.
And then after that, we came out to my high school
and hit some front toss, some overhand,
and took some ground balls at third,
worked on some double plays, some short hops,
some throws from across the diamond.
And then we went over the first
and did a little bit of the same thing.
Double plays, feeds the first,
and that about wraps it up.
It's the day of my life.
