Good morning. Oh my god. Today is the day. We woke up at five o'clock. We're about to go to the airport, and I'm so excited.
The first of many.
What is up, P Nation? Oh my gosh, today is finally the day we get to go on this trip. It's about 620 right now?
Yeah, 620. We're walking to our gate, kind of running. First flight goes to San Francisco,
then we go to Shanghai before finally getting to Bangkok.
Woke up this morning, and it did not feel real. Did it feel real? No.
It's like last night when we finished packing was like the time, you know? Yeah, well,
everything was scattered everywhere, and we were like struggling to get everything in our bags,
so I'm just thankful that like we got everything in our bags. Yeah. It's all packed up.
Whatever we left behind is no longer a problem.
No, because we don't have it, and it's fine.
And we're gonna do this.
Okay guys, Leah's running to the restroom, and I just couldn't help but think like
I've got to fill you guys in on what's happened the past couple weeks, so I quit my job about a week ago.
That was not fun.
Definitely not something that...
Probably the hardest part actually was quitting my job, even though saying goodbye to my mom.
And then we moved out of our apartment about two weeks ago, and that was a lot to do, but everything's in storage now,
so we just have nothing basically. Everything's in storage or either with my sister,
and we just have a carry-on and a backpack, and we're gonna go explore, and it's gonna be awesome.
And we made it. Hi!
So, this is what's happening. We just got into San Francisco and Terminal 2.
We have to find the Airtrain to Terminal, the International Terminal A.
We don't know how to get there yet, but we're finding out. Too many steps. Lots of steps in place.
And then thankfully through our Priority Pass membership, we can go to a lounge in that same terminal.
So we're really excited. About time.
We just got on our flight.
This is very inconspicuous. Holding it.
So we just got on our flight.
This is like, maybe 7?
What are you? 9?
9 and a half? Yeah.
We thought it was 10.
We're feeling a couple hours.
Can I have Sprite? Sprite?
What's up?
So, we made it to the Shanghai Priority Pass lounge successfully.
We got off the plane.
After a 13 hour flight.
Which we thought was a 10 hour flight.
Turned out to be a 13 hour flight.
Our knees are killing us. It's fine.
All you gotta do is sleep and watch movies.
We got off the plane. Easy recipe.
And we went through like 8 customs.
It was fine.
We almost got fingerprinted, but we didn't.
We're still in the airport.
Now we're in the lounge for like 3 hours.
Right before we go to...
Right before we get on to our next plane.
Which is a 5 hour flight to Bangkok.
Like Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
Say that again?
Suvarnabhumi.
It's like really good.
The only thing is it's just not very hot.
So this is the rice.
It's got like eggs, peas.
Some like ham or something.
This is like the minced meat.
It's really really good.
It's got carrots.
I think it's like ground turkey or something.
Maybe ground chicken.
It's in a sauce and it's salty.
A little bit sweet.
A little bit spicy.
Broccoli.
And then this fried rice cake thing.
Honestly it just tastes like a big noodle.
And it's like in a
not very
tasty sauce.
But it's not bad.
And then chili sauce because I was trying to be adventurous but I'll probably die.
It's fine.
So yeah, lounge food.
And tea.
Hey guys, we just got out of the lounge.
It's 5 o'clock our time.
Which means we've been up for 24 hours.
I slept for 3.
How long did you sleep?
I think I slept for like 4 or 5.
Which is pretty good.
So we've got one more flight to Bangkok.
And then we're done.
Travel nightmare.
Our flight just got
I guess delayed.
We were on a bus for like 40 minutes.
And we just sat outside
the airplane.
And it was very confusing.
Let's try this one more time.
I'm not going to lie, this airport kind of smells like my high school.
And I'm digging it.
Bus number 2.
Let's hope.
We made it.
We're ready.
Like seriously, I don't even
they came by with food and I was like
I'm hungry but I don't even care because I'm so tired.
And I feel rested.
I got to stay up all night.
And the guy
he was like the flight attendant that was helping our section
he saved our food
for us because we were sleeping.
So he like
he saw that we were awake
and he was like oh you're awake.
And he like opened up the cabin right in front of us.
And he like pulled out
two lunch bags.
It was so great.
Thank you so much.
So we're already off to a great start.
This has been fun.
Alright now we've got to find this taxi thing.
Yeah we've got to find the taxi.
Well we've got to go through customs
we've got to find the taxi and then we've got to get to where we're staying.
Hopefully they're open.
Okay so
we got to the
taxi station.
Did everything right.
We heard that it was going to be like $250-$300
baht for the whole
ride and that's including a $50
baht surcharge for
even getting picked up at the airport.
So we got into the taxi
and the guy spoke no English which was fine.
You know because we have our phones and so I just like
showed him on the map and he was like
I could tell he was like called the hotel
and so I rang the number
he talked to the people and he like knew exactly
where to take us which was really impressive because like he did not
look at a phone or a GPS or anything.
But anyway so the meter
was $2.77
Plus $50
for the surcharge and I was like okay yeah
that's like in our price range.
And then he started saying $4.50
$4.50 $4.50 he tried to explain
the surcharge and everything like that.
So we got out of the taxi and he said
it was $4.50 when it should have been like $3.20
ish. So you took out the money.
So I took out the money and Zach got mad.
Because apparently that's a no no.
You're not supposed to tell people how much money you have.
I was trying to hide. Anyways
so we gave him $400 and
he was still like $4.50
and I was like no.
$3.50 maybe
and I was expecting him to give money back but then he didn't.
Because there was a huge language barrier but like
after it all
we got us super close to the hotel
it was literally like a 40 minute drive
because we got here at 2 o'clock in the morning
there was no traffic.
Had to pass by two night markets.
It's very interesting outside and I'm really excited for tomorrow
but at the end of the day we paid
$400 which is like $13
so
did we really lose that much? Not really
but like it was kind of like a pride thing
like no because I know how much it's supposed to be
that's okay it's fine.
And now we're in a hotel which we really like
it's $20 a night
so we kind of splurged. We splurged for the first night.
We get a balcony so it's going to be awesome.
And there's air conditioning because it's hot.
It's humid. We're in Bangkok. It doesn't feel real.
I didn't know that it had 8 million
people who lived here.
It's the same size as New York City.
What is this city? So I'm excited to explore.
And it's like 2.30 in the morning
and we've been traveling for like 30 hours.
Yeah like 32 hours.
So yeah we'll get back to you tomorrow and
that's a wrap.
You guys I just wanted to share something
that I think is really cute. Zach was so proud
of his
bungee cord.
Look at it!
It's keeping everything together.
I'm walking to the airport.
