Louis XII Of France - Father Of The People: Louis XII Of France was born on June 27, 1462 at Blois Castle and died on January 1, 1515 at the Hôtel des Tournelles in Paris. He was king of France from 1498 to 1515 and a member of the House of Valois-Orléans, a collateral line of the House of Valois.
Louis XII's enduring nickname was and is "père du peuple," or "father of the people." This dates back to a meeting of deputies from the cities in Tours in 1506, when the honorific appellation was offered to him by the spontaneous exclamation of a subject.
