Shen Yun Performing Arts - the mission to revive traditional culture

With permission from Shen Yun Office, in the afternoon of Jan 27th, the VN-US Traditional Culture Company organized a tea reception to introduce Shen Yun Performing Arts at Sofitel Legend Metropole hotel in Hanoi. With a yearning heart for bridging cultural values, the event introduced the mission to revive traditional culture of Shen Yun Performing Arts, its 12-year developments and achievements, as well as audience’s genuine experiences while seeing the show.
This is the 12th consecutive year Shen Yun Performing Arts toured grant theatres in nearly 150 cities of Europe, America, Australia and Asia. Founded by Chinese American artists and based in New York, with its mission to revive the 5,000-year Chinese civilization through the borderless language of music and dance, Shen Yun has helped millions of audiences worldwide experience and explore the ancient Eastern culture, together with ethical values and the diversity of one of mankind’s most established civilizations.
Attending this event held by VN-US Traditional Culture Company, many guests were surprised and expressed their admiration as they learned about Shen Yun’s determination to revive traditional culture, its fascinating ancient dance techniques – seamlessly combined with modern technology, such as the 3D dynamic digital background, and especially the symphony orchestra bringing together the distinct instruments from both East and West at a scale no other orchestra has ever achieved.
“Culture is the spiritual foundation, while art is the foundation of culture,” said Mr. Ha Van Tang, former Director of Department of Culture – Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism. After this event, Mr. Tang has gained more insights of deeper layers of art and traditional Chinese culture that he never heard of before.
Mr. Pham Viet Long – former Chief of Staff at Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism – expressed his affection for the Shen Yun introducing session, because in his opinion, “there is no modern without tradition, only by preserving and promoting tradition can we have a good modern.” Through the event, he has seen how Shen Yun preserved traditional values. He said Shen Yun is “very worth watching for its special values.”
