Is this 2023 Nissan Kicks a better crossover than the Mazda CX-3 or the Hyundai Kona?
My name is Christopher, this is Cars Unlocked. Today I have the 2023 Nissan Kicks S. We're going
to go through what comes standard on the Kicks to help you determine if it sets it apart from
the competition. Starting off with the pricing, this one comes with an MSRP of $20,998 here in
Canada and there's a lot to love with this crossover. Perfect little grocery getter,
perfect for urban environments, zipping in and out of parking lots and there's a ton of space on the
inside. But let's check out the front end here. Starting with this one comes the fresh powder
white exterior color. There's all different colors you can get. Standard on the Kicks,
you choose one color. When you go up in models, you can choose different color combinations.
The benefit that you get here is it comes with a ton of safety features. Right on the front,
we do have a forward sensor and that's going to help because it comes with forward emergency
braking. You have automatic high beam assistant as well with the headlights. Now the Nissan Kicks
is packing a 1.6 four-cylinder engine. The engine is standard across all the trim lines. It's 114
pounds feet of torque and 122 horsepower. So my only kind of negative comment that I would say
is there's not a huge amount of acceleration, but you're not buying this car for that acceleration.
You're buying it for the fuel economy. It has a combined fuel economy of 32.6 miles per gallon
or 7.2 liters per every 100 kilometers. So phenomenal on fuel. On the side profile of
the Kicks, this is the base model. So it comes with 16-inch steel wheels. You get the hubcaps
on this. When you go up to the next packages up, you get things like aluminum alloy rims or sport
rims. And then you have your black handles here. The mirrors are breakaway mirrors and we do have
a blind spot monitor. So as you're driving down the highway, it will help you change lanes. It
only comes with the automatic CVT transmission. So if you're seeking a manual car, you do have to
look elsewhere if you want the manual. The other negative thing, you only get this in front wheel
drive for 2023. There's no all wheel drive. So if that is a must have for you, you have to go up
to something like the Nissan Qashqai or check out some of the other vehicles. On the rear of the
Kicks, you do get a backup camera and parking sensors. It also has rear emergency braking. So
it will stop if you're about to hit something like a person or another car. Some other features that
this thing could include, a sunroof would be nice. My biggest complaint about this car, there's a lot
to love about the car. However, I do not enjoy this. There's no center armrest here. There's just
this tiny little armrest and there's only one for the driver. So it'd be add a little bit to the
comfort if there was the center armrest or center console, that's all. Jumping on the inside of the
Kicks, it does have a remote access and it does come with push button start. So you still have to
use the remote to start the car up and then this is where the value of the Kicks really comes in.
There's a ton of space here. We have a six-way power adjustable driver's seat, four-way passenger,
seven-inch touchscreen here and you have Bluetooth for your cell phone, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
come standard. You can play music through Bluetooth and let's check out the camera.
Large backup camera as well and you can see it has the guidance lines here for parking.
Behind the wheel is just a small little vehicle information screen here. It's fairly basic
compared to some of the competition. We have our cruise control right on the wheel, our Bluetooth
controls and then there's two USBs. There's a USB right in the front here for you to charge
and then underneath your front armrest there's two other USB connections as well. The safety
features are great. You have your blind spot monitor, you have your lane departure warning so
it will notify you if you deviate from the lane. You have your forward collision warning like I
mentioned. Nissan doesn't sacrifice the safety. They keep all the safety features standard across
from the base model all the way up to the top model so that's really good. It does have more
safety features than some of its competitors. And checking out the back here, perfect for a
small family of four, even five. I'm 5'9 so I do have a ton of space. This one being the S model,
the interior is pretty basic. You get a cup holder in each door. When you drive it the car feels
light. Steering is phenomenal. You can make a really tight turning radius if you do live in a
congested kind of environment. Parking is super easy. It's really easy to park and using the
cameras and the sensors it's really great if you live in a busy city. And here's what I love about
the Kicks. Super large trunk here, perfect if you're going to Ikea or things like that. The
seats fold down. It's a 60-40 split so for a small little crossover there's a ton of space for
cargo. So let me know in the comments guys, is this the crossover to buy? Thank you so much for
watching and if you guys are new here make sure you subscribe. Give this video a thumbs up if we
helped you with your buying decision and we'll see you in the next unlock. Have a great day.
