According to recent stats, about 36% of Americans have valid passports,
meaning that probably less than that have traveled abroad.
So this week we thought we'd try to do a small change in that statistic
by not only going to a different country,
but by convincing a stranger to drop everything they had planned and come with us.
With long hours of driving, road trips can actually be an awesome way to turn a stranger into a friend.
So we decided to hit the streets of LA and ask strangers
if they would spontaneously join us on our road trip to Mexico.
Amar says it's impossible.
Amar is usually the best at these sorts of things.
So today we're going to prove to him that we can do it as well.
The difficulty, I think, with this episode is that we've never
asked a stranger to invest so much time in an experience.
All right, we actually found a spot in front of the pizzeria, which is a very busy area.
We're still in the car.
We're still confident.
All right, here we go.
You should probably ask people, not just stand there, right?
Yeah, no f***ing s***.
Do you want to do it?
You guys want to come on a road trip to Mexico?
Do you want to come on a road trip to Mexico with us?
Uh, if you're going to head down today, can you drive back tonight?
Wait, what?
If you guys are down...
I'm not down.
You guys want to come to Mexico with us?
Right now?
Yeah.
No.
It's my turn to get the job done.
You guys want to go on a 24-hour road trip to Mexico?
If it doesn't bother me, I'll stand here all day.
It always hurts a little bit, you know?
Like, not too much, but it's like...
Are you coming?
We're talking about now?
Yeah.
We'll leave in the morning and come back at night if you want.
I'm kind of with it.
What's your name?
Yema.
I'm trying to see who I work with tomorrow.
This may be perfect.
All right, so he's going to call his friend.
Hey bro, you want to go to Mexico?
Why not?
You with it?
Why not?
All right, we'll figure out the details later.
Dude, we have to do this.
Hey, yeah, I'm with it.
I hope this guy comes.
He was too chill.
So he doesn't know if he's actually working with his friend tomorrow,
if they actually share a shift.
He's going to text us in the next couple hours with confirmation.
We're going to f***ing Mexico.
All right, Yema, I hope this works out.
Otherwise, we'll be back here tomorrow.
We'll do this all over again.
Yema, I have a feeling we are going to become best friends.
I have the same feeling.
All right, so it is official.
His friend bailed.
So instead, we asked Roberto if he wanted to come and he said yes.
So let's just make sure he's here.
Roberto?
Are you excited?
You're going to Mexico?
Okay, cool.
We'll come get you.
I need to take pictures of your IDs.
If I'm missing, everybody's going to know.
Did you tell them what we did to the last person that said yes?
No, of course not.
Well, yeah, we can say that.
Can you not find your passport right now?
This is why people clean their rooms.
Are you looking in your laundry basket for your passport?
You found it?
Where was it?
It was in a package.
Sweet.
So we're going to Mexico.
You're the man for saying yes.
Is that your girlfriend that dropped you off?
Yeah.
What did she think of the whole thing?
Oh, it's definitely going to be hard, though.
We're really driving to Mexico right now.
All right, we're rolling into Mexico right now.
The border is right in front of us.
Yeah, but you've never been to Mexico, right?
No, I've never.
But the Spanish two to use.
Well, we're in Mexico.
Oh, my God.
Cheers, guys.
Boom.
Let's get some drinks and dinner, boys.
Hello.
It feels like a time machine.
Like, it feels like a bar out of the 50s.
It's all Mexican.
I don't know.
It's awesome.
Hi.
What's your name?
Camila.
Okay, tell us about this place.
Poussins is the oldest bar here in Ensenada.
And it's where they supposedly invented the margarita.
All right, so right now, we're going to a bar that she recommended.
She says this is a special place where you can try beers that they have here.
And she actually owns her own brewery.
We're going to give it a shot.
From your family?
Yeah, we do beer.
We're going to the best taco spot that only the locals go to.
There we go.
Fire, dog.
Best tacos in town, baby.
Okay, I'll try to order in Spanish.
What's it called?
That's so freaking good.
The best taco I've ever had.
10 hours in the backseat of a car today.
It's been a blast.
This was great, man.
Pleasure meeting you guys.
Yeah, same.
Remember.
You didn't see me, I didn't see you.
I was at work all day.
All right, thank you so much, guys, for watching.
If there's one product that has changed my life recently, it is Audible.
I was never a reader.
I grew up with a lot of learning disabilities.
So reading was always such a hard task for me.
I downloaded Audible a few months ago, and it has been a life-changing experience.
Now, I don't have to read books.
I listen to books.
As I travel, as I drive, as I bike, as I work out, I listen to books now.
We love showing you guys products that have helped us grow,
and now we get the chance to actually put it out to a lot more people.
So Audible is offering a 30-day free trial.
We're going to leave the link at the top of the description.
Matt is one of the most rad people I have ever met in my entire life,
and he recommended two books that I'll be reading over the next month.
The first book is The Power of Habit, and the second book is Willpower.
And I'm going to leave my favorite book recommendations underneath the link,
so that if you do get Audible, you can check those out.
Again, at the top of the description,
we're going to leave a link that will take you to access the free trial that we offer,
plus the free book that you get.
And if you're on your phone right after this video,
make sure you text YESTHEORY to 500-500,
and you should get a text with the download link.
Please make sure to do that,
and if you have any questions about books or recommendations,
VMS on Instagram will try to answer as many of you as we possibly can.
All right, one last thing I forgot to mention in this video is
if you want to remember to listen to books a lot more often,
add Audible to your home screen.
I have mine here, so go click on the link in the description,
and let's get rolling.
