Visiting Vietnam's Mountains | Travel Vlog

Good morning, it is early at a 630 and today we are going to northern Vietnam before we go to China We're going to the town of Sapa. It's apparently really really pretty. It's really small These colors Everyone's just hanging out. We booked this ticket with one to go Asia. It was $12 a person It was in the Chinese Embassy We were freaking out because they wouldn't give us or they wouldn't approve us for our Chinese visa until we had a ticket Up to the border and we have like no expectations. It's only $12. Like we've been on terrible buses. We know what that is. It's fine And we got on this like really nice green bus. This is not what I expected at all. I thought we were going to be roughing it So we just stopped at our second truck stop, but Leah is hungry And some fried noodles $50,000 This is the only place we're at We made it to Lao Cat Quay We were greeted by all these women Dressed in traditional clothing From the mountain town It looked beautiful The rice terrace patties on the way up here were amazing I was like Leah why are you taking us to the middle of nowhere And this is definitely a bustling city And a really really cool part of Vietnam So thank you You're welcome But honestly I had no idea what we were going to encounter here But we are like in the mountains It is cool You can tell The air is crisp The culture is a lot different Now we're heading to our hotel. It's a 14 minute walk. We have no idea where we're going The good news is we're going downhill Not that many stairs Huge mountain I found the Bob Marley bar I feel like we are back in Bangkok We have no idea what's going on Everything is new We've never been in a mountain town before Our hotel is really really nice A bunch of native people got us here Thank goodness Because there is so much construction We just put our stuff down We did a little bit of research And we found out that Sapa isn't actually as old as we thought it looked It's very French here It looks very old However, it's all built recently Because the French bombed it in the 40's After it was taken over by the rebellion We have made it to the Love Market Which is a huge market on Saturday However, it's Sunday and there are just children playing soccer And behind us is It's called the Notre Dame Cathedral And it was built by the French in 1895 So it's pretty old It's like the oldest building They said it's Roman Gothic architecture I love their chestnuts here This is full on production This is all the same restaurant Three floors of compact seating Can it be that good? I feel like we're here Before the tourist season really starts So it doesn't seem that busy To fill something up like that But I guess it would be in the summertime There's our bus And that's our bus Your daddy can't pet him Yes please Coconut cake in hand Now we're going to go to this garden That's about to be blooming And enjoy it by the lake This place is really beautiful And that building is super French And all these flowers are super French And this whole courtyard thing is super French Wow We just had to take a second to show you guys these beautiful flowers They are so pretty I just don't understand how there's so many different colors In like one blossom So we just ate that beautiful pastry And now we're about to walk up to this mountain That's foggy, you can't even see the top But hopefully when we get there it clears out So we can see the beautiful view of the city What is this mystical wonderland We got rocks and moss And ferns Okay this is very interesting We made it to like a theme park Type thing with statues And music And all these children Did not expect this, I thought we were going hiking But I will take this because I feel Submerged in Asian culture Many stone structures here That you can walk through, walk around, walk on top of It's really tranquil I feel like we're in like some Hidden gem of like Asia we've never known about Or like some Indiana Jones Montage Where we're getting lost And like everything's going to crumble We are up here in a cloud And you can see the town below Like we are up in a cloud I think this is the first time I've ever been inside a cloud I'm just very thankful that we did this Because our mattress is rock solid So this is going to help me sleep Okay so that was awesome And now we are going to find Hopefully an authentic Sapa slash Northern Vietnamese dinner Countless places And we went to almost two dozen We decided to come to this place Because they had a set menu And we got in here And we were like let's just make our own menu So we ordered five, six different things So we have pumpkin soup And salmon mushroom soup So we were looking up things to eat here in Sapa And one of the dishes we noticed had salmon And I was like how? They had salmon all the way up here The water is so cold here The runts really spawn up here A little scared, also excited It's ten times better than I thought it would be It kind of has the flavor of pho But with salmon And it's very salty Which I love salt It's thick Like a pumpkin pie soup But not sweet French fries And I already ate most of them Thank you So good It's like vinaigrette-y Which I've been missing since Thailand All that food I am so full, are you really full? I'm pretty full We stepped out and it's like a mystical world The clouds are settled here Everything is foggy It's awesome I'm really glad you brought us to Sapa And it's really cold, I'm really happy we're here too Just to see it I don't think we would enjoy spending too much time here But it's so different from what we've been experiencing That it's like Really refreshing Now we're going to go back to the hotel and get some sleep And thanks for watching today Dun-dun-dun-dun Dun-dun-dun Dun-dun-dun-dun Watch out for the rock that's coming down This dog just appeared out of nowhere Hello Don't bite us Okay so now we'll put it in the salmon soup
