How to build a house - 7 basic steps
One of the most significant lifetime tasks is building a house. Therefore, understanding the step-by-step home construction process will help you track progress as your project progresses.
You'll learn how to build a house in this video in 7 basic steps.
👉Step 1 (0:55) - Site preparation for building a house
- The team clears the area of rocks, debris, and trees using bulldozers and excavators.
- The cleansing team will fill any pits and raze the ground once the soil has been cleared.
- The group will dig pits and grooves for foundations, utilities, and septic systems, if any, using wooden piles as guides.
👉Step 2 (2:19) - Laying the foundations for building a house
- Foundations are dug up by groundworkers.
- Await building control and warranty inspectors' approval.
- Place any necessary compressible material or slip membranes inside the trenches, along with any reinforcement bars, mesh, or cages.
- Lay ducts so that services can enter through the foundations.
- If necessary, set up a foot scaffold and a shutter for any steps in the foundations.
- Place concrete footings and level them off.
- Obtain the go-ahead from building/warranty inspectors.
- Bricklayers add foundation blockwork on top to create a damp-proof course.
- Construct crank air vents.
- Install lintels for drainage exits.
- Level cavities with the external ground level by filling them with lean-mix concrete.
- Set up and install damp-proof courses, connecting them to any radon barriers or membranes.
👉Step 3 (7:14) - Construction of a frame house
- Wood for the walls, floors, ceilings, and roof trusses will be built by the framed team. This step can take weeks, months or 1 year to complete . It depends on the structure of the House.
- Construction of paint baits for exterior walls includes sheathing exterior walls and roofs with plywood or fiberboard, as well as installing windows and exterior doors. The home sheath, a protective covering that keeps water from entering the building while allowing steam to escape, is then placed over the sheath. Mold and wood rot are less likely as a result.
👉Step 4 (8:50) - Finishing the rough parts of the water, electricity, and HVAC systems:
- Air processors, condensers, and decorative work will also be installed, and HVAC technicians will arrive to install pipelines throughout the home.
- The pipes will be run to the restroom, kitchen, and laundry room by a plumber. They will also put in vents, bathtubs, and sewer lines. While windows and doors are being installed, this step can be completed.
- Electrical panels are installed, and wires are run through the walls and ceilings. Fans, lights, power outlets, external power systems, and breakers have all been connected and are ready to use. HVAC systems, including thermostats, have also been connected.
- Insulation installation: If it is not applied before the sheath, insulation is typically applied to the inner walls, attic, basement, information-gathering area, and outer walls.
👉Step 5 (11:49) - Work on the preliminary inspection
To ensure compliance with construction regulations, rough frames, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems are tested. These three tests will probably differ from one another. The frame inspection will, at the very least, be carried out independently of the electrical/mechanical inspections.
👉Step 6 (12:54) - Drywall finishing ; fixed interior finishing; exterior finishing
- The ceiling of the house and the interior walls are both covered with drywall. A texture can be sprayed onto the drywall after it has been hung. The walls are then primed in order to paint them.
- Painted walls
- Finishing is installed on the exterior.
- When the paint is dry, the floor is paved throughout the house.
- You can choose to have decorative accents installed around the ceiling, along the floor, and around the windows and doors.
- The following furnishings that will be installed in your home are dressing tables and cabinets.
- Setting up the sockets, switches, and lighting
- The installation of kitchen countertops and appliances
- During this time, new bathroom fixtures like faucets, showers, toilets, thermostat registers, and other features are added.
- Install bathroom fixtures and hang mirrors in the desired location.
- A skilled ornamentalist can come and lay down grass, plant flowers or trees. They will put in walkways, construct patios or floors, build garden walls, etc.
👉Step 7 (19:05) - Last home inspection:
Call the inspector to check the plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. They will check doors, windows, foundations, roofs, etc. If the structure passes the inspection, they will grant you a certificate of ownership, which means it is habitable and safe to live in.
