The arch was named in honor of the thousands of Chinese workers who labored for the railroad. The greenish qaurtzite that makes up the arch is only found here and in another local quarry and in China. This is a pretty cool coincidence and an even cooler connection of the Chinese immigrants and workers to their native homeland!

And the adventure continues. I'm back on the road about to cross another state line.
Traffic jam. I'm gonna have to pull over, well I already pulled over, to the side of the road
because we need to let these buddies cross. It's a ton of them, look! That is so funny,
they're cute. All right so we'll wait. Hey buddy, how's it going?
Well they're actually moving now. I was gonna wait for all of them to pass but then
you know they're moving. They hear the car and they move. This is the very first time
something like this happened to me. That one's getting angry. Oh my god, this one's looking at
me weird. That one's a feisty one. It won't move out of the way. Let me pass. We're okay guys.
This is definitely better than the traffic in Phoenix. I'd rather deal with this.
Maybe this is normal to many people but to me this is pretty unusual so there's another car
coming that way. What's up buddy? Hey guys, what's going on? It's me again. I'm somewhere in Utah.
I just made it after that little incident with the cows or bulls or whatever those were.
I'm going to take a little hike. I want to experience a winter hike in the snow so
I'm just going to get a little taste of it and take a little walk on this trail that I found
online. Although the gate is closed they told me that it's okay to go and explore so come along
with me. This is going to be a lot of fun. Let's hope we don't encounter more little friends because
that was a little scary. I'm not gonna lie. They say that life begins at the end of your
comfort zone and trust me if you know me you know that being in the snow is definitely not my comfort
zone. I'm here in the middle of nowhere at 24 degrees. It's very cold and I'm on a mission to
find this monument called the Chinese Arch. Although I'm mainly here for the views I'm
excited to see this monument. According to my research I will be hiking for about four miles
round trip. This trail is rated easy however I'm not used to walking on snow so this might be a
little more challenging for me. Also it's almost sunset so I am a little limited on time. I'm so
impressed with the views. This is so different for me. Remember I'm an Arizona kid. I don't get to
see this a lot unless we go up north but it's just so magical. Very unique sunset for me.
I'm enjoying it. It's challenging to walk in the snow. I'm not gonna lie. You can hear my breathing
but it's so awesome. Look at this. Beautiful. Nice. To my left we're finding the Chinese Arch.
I don't know if you guys can see it. We're gonna go and take a closer look see if we can get some
photos. Here we go. A little bit of information about this monument. Ancient Lake Bonneville
once covered this area. The waves washing against the ancient shore eroded fall fracture rocks
creating the arch in the three million year formation. More than likely Chinese Arch was
named in recognition of the presence and contribution made by the Chinese who worked
on the transcontinental railroad. While the arch was created by forces of nature
today it stands as a memorial to the Chinese who worked for the continental pacific railroad.
It is an embodiment of the strength and stamina demonstrated during their construction and
subsequent maintenance of the transcontinental railroad. This was so amazing you guys. I enjoyed
every minute of it but it's getting dark now so I better run to the car. Thank you so much
for watching and don't forget to give me a like and subscribe to my channel if you haven't done
it yet and yeah that's it. Thank you so much for watching. I'll see you next time. Bye. Let's run.
It's getting dark.
