Large Summer Containers With Elephant Ears Tropical Plants & Tons of Petunias! Banana Cannas
Ok I did a lot of planting but only a smidge of what I did was on camera, was just too hot for the Sony and earlier in the week I was gardening at a snail's pace. I went through and did a small garden tour of what I had done, planting banana cannas, variegated canna stuttgart, salvia, gomphrena, ruellia, colocasia black coral and then moved on to the containers. Last summer I planted up my pool pots which are very large planters, with a rainbow of petunias and I wanted to do something similar this year. In the center of the planters I used tropical plants such as: heliconia hirsuta 'costa flores,' cordyline fruticosa 'kiwi,' colocasia 'maui gold,' then planted the edge of the pot. For the trailers or spiller I used: supertunia vista silverberry, supertunia vista fuschia, supertunia bordeaux, and supertunia honey, all from Proven Winners. Both containers will go on drip irrigation and need weekly fertilizing, despite having planted them in a very rich potting mix.
