Royal Caribbean Ovation of the Seas Embarkation Review-Get Ready with Me!

We shall see. It keeps going between good, fair, and poor. But I'm getting ready for dinner. We have dinner in about a half hour at Wonderland. So just doing light makeup tonight. Enough so I don't look dead. But I just boarded today. We are going to be on Ovation of the Seas for the next seven nights. We are doing a Inside Passage round trip from Seattle, Alaska and sailing. Our ports are in Sitka, Skagway, and Juneau. And we will be doing the Endicott Arm and Cross Glacier. So Beth, this is the first time at Wonderland for me. Hey Jeff, in the bathroom there's that little jar from my foundation. I need it. How did the travel go? Exactly, Alex. It's okay to drink and cruise. I'm definitely not driving. Hello, hello everybody. So let's talk about the application process. So we were given a 1.30 to 2 p.m. time. We got here right at 1.30. From a start to getting on this ship to our room was a two-hour process. It is probably one of the worst embarkation processes ever. And I think the real kicker is that I don't entirely think it's the cruise line's fault. I think there's things that could have been done better staffing-wise, 100%. But I think a lot of the problem was people not doing their online check-in, not following instructions. I'm getting the tissue, Jeff, some of this spilled. Oh yeah, awesome. All right, anyways, so yeah, a lot of people just weren't paying instructions. Like this one lady in front of us, she literally thought that she could skip the testing at the terminal because she has young kids, just like Olivia had to take another test here. So we got put in that area. She thought she could skip that whole process by going someplace else this morning and getting a test to bring here. Like she was so upset, yelling at people from Royal Caribbean, yelling from people at the port. Like it was just utter chaos from this woman. So yeah, it was just, it was wild. It took a good almost 35-40 minutes to get Olivia's test results back, which they told us it would be anywhere from 25 to 45 minutes. And just, I cannot get over how many people today were just not prepared. Like don't get me wrong, there's definitely some short staffing at the cruise pier right now, but a lot of people not using common sense and it was very evident. So to be on board right now, sorry, I'm looking for the trash can. So to be on board right now, if you're vaccinated, you get a bracelet like this. Hey Pippa. That was a Ken with her Josh. You were stirring that pot. Yeah, it was, it was just kind of wild. I mean, I'm happy to be on a cruise, but you know, whatever. But if you're vaccinated, you get one of these. And then everybody gets one of these. This is the contact tracing. This does not work to open your door. We tried that. And we got the, let me grab this. That's not South Pasadena cruise compass. There is notations on here as to what events are for vaccinated passengers and what is for everybody else. So on this particular cruise, and obviously World Caribbean is going this way. If you are over the age of 12, you have to be vaccinated, which I am okay with. So hi Vanya. How are you? I know somebody else asked me a question. Let me check on that. Do you have to wear a mask in public areas? Yes. We will see unless you are actively eating or drinking. Trying to even this all out here. But yeah, so that was a long check-in process. And another thing, going to people not listening and paying attention. There were so many people that were not showing up at their scheduled times. And one thing I will say that this port did really well is they separated you. Like they went through this long line. You guys are going to see, I have a whole vlog that's going to go up on YouTube. So you guys know what to expect up here is that they actually went through, they're like, all right, who's at 130? And they pulled the 130 people out of this massive line and sent them up to another line to get in. So if you don't show up at your scheduled time, you're going to be just outside standing there waiting. So any cruise you're taking these days, show up at your scheduled time. Do yourself a favor. Let's see here. Make sure I'm not missing any comments. You would think after they turned those six people away on a preview failing, others would have been. I agree, Brian. I don't know why people insist on not following the rules. So that's crazy. So they are doing the, what is the embarkation 2.0. So what was nice is while we were waiting for Olivia's test results, we just did our muster video and stuff. So then as we walked on the ship, we walked on deck five, walked over and made our specialty dining reservations because we did the ultimate dining package on this sailing. That goes back to talking about Wonderland. I have never actually eaten at Wonderland as much as I've cruised. We've only been on this passive ship once. And it was four years ago for a wedding. So we weren't really doing the specialty dining thing. So we were with a group. So I'm very excited to try that. Olivia's excited to try it. She's good. Pretty girl. Why don't you get a little hair tie and I'll do your hair. Sorry guys, we're multitasking. It wasn't a suggestion. That was four years ago, Peppa. That is when I first met Ron Heller. Are they permitting self-guided tours, Mark? Great question. You are vaccinated? Yes. But with Olivia, we are getting off the ship with Olivia. It has to be a Royal Caribbean excursion. I mean, granted, there are a lot of bloggers on that cruise, but I cannot do anything in my stateroom. The boom was so bad. We're just doing light makeup tonight. Nothing crazy, kind of blending, doing some light stuff. And then Jeff and Olivia are going to leave here in about 10 minutes to go do adventure ocean stuff. So you can go stand outside, Joe. But I think we could do a live when I think we're eating at Jamie's twice. Wait till you guys see this balcony. When I finish up my makeup, I want to show you the size for a balcony. It is amazing. Look at Jeff over there putting everything on airplane mode. Hey, I like to bring you guys along. This is part of the experience. See if I can do my eyeliner on the camera instead of near this could go bad. But this is gonna be a fun sailing. I mean, we are kind of a little bit more or not vaccinated yet. She's 11. But I think it'll be a good taste. Maybe see if she likes that. With my parents 16 years ago, actually right now. I'm on deck 13. Is it choppy now? Let's see if it comes back. It keeps wavering a little bit. I did turn the camera to see just full job and dirty dog. Okay, that didn't go as terrible as I thought it would. I was a little nervous about doing my eyeliner on camera. Hey, I was eating by myself, doing my thing bringing the people the good word. You know, doing what I need to with a flare always. We're doing lazy makeup tonight. This is a little bit more lazy for me. It's actually the cross between my lazy makeup and my heavy duty makeup. Let's see here. What color are we doing tonight? The decision is the decision you guys. It's not the glitter one but it is creamy though. I'll touch that up in a bit. But anyways, anyways, I'm going to show you the size of the balcony. I'm going to show you the room in a second. I just want to like pick up my makeup so you guys don't think I'm a slob. Jarvis, I don't know if you caught it. But it took me two hours in total to get on the ship today. There we go. Just got to finish with a little bit of sparkle. That's all a little bit of sparkle. There we go. All is good right now. We're not doing fake lashes tonight. We're keeping it simple. All right. That means it's time for a room tour. Let me pop my battery off here. And show you guys the room. So none of my Royal Up offers were expected. So we are slumming it in a balcony. See there you go. There's the light. This is the true look guys. I know that was kind of shaded over there. Anyways, so here we are. This is the large ocean balcony stateroom. You can tell which is Jeff's side of the bed. It's a villa balcony. Yeah. Bathroom with this nice spaceship shower in the tube. But what I will say is I really do like, and I believe this is crossover on Symphony, is this style of closet by the bed. The layout of this room is really great. I really enjoyed it on AMBA. Yeah, I think they did a great job with this. So one of the things that's really neat about this is you can pull this out like a table. Got the mini fridge in here. Shampagna. Here's my drawer. All the tech here and all the shades. But look at the size of this balcony, you guys. This balcony is huge. Huge, huge.
