What am I watching?
This isn't normal.
And nothing's ever been normal with Bobo.
You've probably seen the highlights flowing around.
The Bobo pull up threes, crossovers, dunks, running the pick and roll.
He's averaging 12.8 points on 60% from the field, 42% from three, 7.5 rebounds in 27 minutes a game
on pretty normal 19% usage rate.
He's had five 20 plus point games in the past month.
He's learning.
In this pace and space era, big men are expected to do way more than just take abuse.
We still have low post specialists on the offensive end, but also point centers like
Jokic, inside dominance with Giannis, and players like Bobo, who score in a lot of ways,
don't really get that many shots, but lead the league in field goal percentage in a restricted
area.
Wait, what?
Yeah.
He's actually dribbling from the outside, finding his way in the paint, and finishing
over everyone.
Then there's these seven footers that are asked to space the floor with shooting, like
Brook Lopez, Porzingis.
It's not surprising seeing big men take heat checks.
They're also big men who should not be shooting.
Bobo is spacing like a splash brother, hitting 42% from deep.
That percentage is even with him just shooting 2 of 11 from the corner, which may seem odd,
but is due in part to his slow release.
However, with a release point that high, I really don't know how defenders block him.
And if you're liking the content, feel free to subscribe like BoboHits3s cuz over 75%
of y'all aren't.
Thanks.
He has a 9-7 standing reach pulling up from 3 like Curry.
But shooting isn't what makes Bobo special, and he's doing something we've never seen
before.
What is up dudes, cadets, ballers, players, it's ya boi MJ.
A lot of people forget that coming into the league, Bobo was considered to be a demigod,
making 3 pointers from deep.
Shit.
This was already something we had never seen because Bobo is 7'2 with a 7'8 wingspan.
Bobo is the Wembanya before Wembanyama.
Handling the ball like he was born to be a guard, shooting it like he grew up a Steph
Curry fan, people were lining up to get Bobo to sign a bowl.
Bobo averaged 21 points a game.
He shot 52% from 3 in college averaging nearly 3 3-point attempts per game and 2.7 blocks
per game.
We've seen 7-footers that can shoot.
Porzingis is one of the original unicorns.
At 7'3, he takes 6 threes a game and scores 27% of his points from deep.
But only 6% of Porzingis' 3-point field goals are unassisted.
As good as he's been, he still relies on others to create catch and shoot opportunities
for him.
Bobo just different bro.
He ranks first among all 7-footers with 47.4% of field goals coming unassisted.
That's even ahead of throw me the ball and get out of the way.
Most of the bigs on this list are classic bigs who score over 90% of their points from
2-point range and free throws.
Bobo is grabbing the rebound and going coast to coast with his head up.
The offense for CERN Magic Plays is actually run through him on the perimeter.
Thank Bobo's youth development coaches for focusing on handling the ball.
Even when Bobo was a 6'5 7th grader, his coaches were letting him play point guard.
Look at this.
Him running full speed, cross into jab cross into a layup back to the left.
But even more than that, Bobo scores 18% of his points from deep.
He's more comparable to another tall, lanky, shot creator, slim reaper, Kevin Durant.
As much as he calls himself a 6'9 small forward, Durant is closer to his 7 foot center
with big feet.
With handles, shot creation, defensive versatility, the unicorn of all unicorns.
Bobo also has pretty large hands.
Him holding a basketball is like me holding my Ridge Wallet.

Man, I wish I could palm a basketball as easily as I hold this wallet.
Bobo got it.
This one is made from forged carbon and looks dope.
Look at my pass wallet.
This ain't it.

It's a great holiday gift.
Durant creates his own shots with half of his field goals coming unassisted.
He scores from all 3 levels, scoring 61% from 2 point range, 16% from 3, and 23% off free
throws.
He also rim protects in small ball lineups and is top 5 in contesting 3 point shots.
Might have not expected that one.
But if you put Bobo's stats side by side with KD, you'll see that she can't be matching
up in the way they do.
Bobo is 61st in the league in unassisted 3 point shooting with 30% of his main 3 point
field goals coming off the dribble.
At his size, that's comparable to Durant's 42% unassisted.
That's 61st including all positions.
They both shoot over the top of defenders at high efficiency.
In fact, the way Bobo scores is also similar to Durant across the board with 71% of both
shots being 2 point shots, 18% from 3, and 11% free throws.
The next progression is for Bobo to get more to the line like Durant.
But honestly, the defenders aren't even getting to his hands.
On the defensive end, there's still enforcers and rim protectors.
Some of these dinosaur bigs are played off the court in crunch time.
We're also seeing bigs, players like Durant, Jason Tatum, be a sort of new breed on defense.
Banging down low, rebounding, but able to switch out on guards on the perimeter.
Bobo is even showing some basic Durant switchability on defense,
contesting the 3rd most 3 point attempts.
What is he not doing?
But this is exactly how most people look at a certain somebody.
Bobo recorded a season high 32 points and 11 rebounds in college with Oregon and entering
the next season, he was considered one of the best prospects for the upcoming NBA draft.
However, he had a season ending injury with his left foot and that drastically lowered
his draft potential.
Tall guys and foot injuries may go hand in hand, but it's not a good thing.
It made analysts wonder if this could be the start of multiple injuries for Bobo.
The Mance was supposed to be a 3rd pick in the 2019 draft behind Zion and RJ,
but then fell all the way to the 2nd round and got buried in the Nuggets bench.
We only got glimpses.
He played for them for 3 seasons averaging 2.7 points, 1.2 rebounds, and .3 assists.
Wait hold on, these stats are dog water.
Not even close to how he was in college.
But what more do you expect from him averaging 6.2 minutes per game?
He wasn't given a lot of playing time because according to scouts and the Nuggets team,
his height was his biggest problem.
The Magic are not championship contenders, so they are willing to give any player a chance.
And they actually gave Bobo significant minutes.
Bobo's minutes have been up and down this season, predominantly because the Magic head
coach has a flexible minute schedule based on who is performing.
Bobo said that the game is slowing down for him and that makes sense.
He barely played in his first 3 seasons,
so now he's in a young team where he'll at least get a chance to earn his minutes,
meaning he's getting experience.
Bobo also has a floater?
Yeah I don't even have words man.
The bag is too deep with this one.
But perhaps what stands out is how he's playing within the offense.
He moves the ball in the perimeter and isn't forcing shots.
It's why his teammates all support him and talk about how Bobo amazes them every day.
But yes, injury is the biggest concern for him.
We all want him to stay healthy, but we've seen a foot injury in college
and then another surgery for his foot last year.
It's the number 1 demise of big men.
There isn't much weight on his body and while he may have strengthened his core movements,
it doesn't seem like he's put on that much weight.
He might really have the KD build, but just be taller.
I'm so excited to see where he goes.
The ALLDAY notification I shout out goes to my girl Samhita,
who wants the Warriors to really figure it out.
Thanks for the ALLDAY support.
