KEEP IT FAIR Baseball Hitting Drill

Okay, today we're doing the keep it fair drill. So in the keep it fair drill we're going to be doing front toss and I'm going to flip this ball directly over this white line of the batter's box and Nick is going to try to keep his barrel from the inside as close to his body as possible. He needs to hit this ball which is inside and he needs to keep it fair. All we mean by keep it fair when you're hitting in a cage is try to hit the ball over the shortstop's head with good backspin. So if he attacks it from the inside he'll be able to get to the inside seam, the inside part of the ball. Put good backspin on it and we should have true carry. We don't want the ball to hook and we want to stay away from obviously hitting the ball foul. So we're going to use the pro velocity bat if you can hold that. So we're going to use the pro velocity bat in conjunction with this drill. So with the pro velocity bat what we're trying to do is to help us stay inside the ball we want to feel like our barrel is going to work back and close to our shoulder. So Nick's going to try to get this to click back behind him. If instead he heard the click out front well his barrel would be going from the outside in and if my barrel gets outside and cuts across it's going to be much harder to keep the ball fair. He's going to get a lot of rollover, he's going to get a lot of hook spin, he's going to get a lot of balls down the third base line or towards the third base dugout. So we're trying to get the barrel to turn deep get this to click behind us which gets us inside the ball and then he'll be able to attack that inside part of the ball and keep it fair. That way good job very nice good that ball was even inside the white line that's pretty good job very good away.
