It’s been a long and difficult few decades for Wesley Snipes. Once upon a time, he was one of the most in-demand action stars of his generation and unlike most of the rest of them. His unique combination of athletic ability and real-life martial arts talent blended with some undeniable charisma led to more than a few blockbuster hits and arguably the most successful Marvel movie franchise, pre-the MCU. But for the past 15-years, Snipes’ projects have come few and far between. Not to mention, Wesley had some run-ins with the law due to tax fraud and sadly had to sell almost all of his lavish homes from Florida to New Jersey, and today, we’re going to look at where he once called home.
It's been a long and difficult few decades for Wesley Snipes.
Once upon a time, he was one of the most in-demand action stars of his generation, and unlike
most of the rest of them, Snipes could actually kick your butt.
His unique combination of athletic ability and real-life martial arts talent blended
with some undeniable charisma led to more than a few blockbuster hits, and arguably
the most successful Marvel movie franchise pre-the MCU.
But for the past 15 years, Snipes' projects have come few and far between.
Not to mention, Wesley had some run-ins with the law due to tax fraud, and sadly, had to
sell almost all of his lavish homes from Florida to New Jersey.
And today, we're going to look at where he once called home.
In these videos we don't reveal any addresses, and even though I've done a house tour of
my own place, please do not show up at any private residences because it's not safe
for anyone.
Wesley Snipes is an actor, producer, and martial artist.
While he has a ton of successful projects under his belt, if there's one thing to blame
for his career decline, it's gotta be the convictions he faced on tax evasion.
We're very positive, we're very confident that things will work out to our benefit and
to our favor, and these are the bumps and bruises of life.
They build character, and you learn from it as you move on.
In 2008, Snipes was convicted of three misdemeanor counts of failing to file tax returns.
Apparently during 1999-2001, he had been listening to an accountant and anti-tax advocate who
claimed you don't legally have to pay your taxes.
Needless to say, the government disagreed.
Snipes was sentenced to spend about two and a half years in prison, reporting to the McKean
Federal Correctional Institution in December of 2010.
He'd spend the majority of his sentence there before being transferred to a minimum
security joint in New York State, and eventually he was released in April 2013.
Of course, as soon as Snipes was out of prison, he was hit with another massive bill from
the IRS.
9.5 million dollars will no doubt be a number that he'll have a lot of trouble paying off.
However, the actor is working again, and if you watch Netflix, then perhaps you've even
seen him in the 2021 drama series alongside Kevin Hart, True Story.
All things considered, Wesley has had to sell off nearly all of the properties he ever owned.
That includes a gorgeous lakefront home located in the Iowarth Golf and Country Club in Florida,
as well as a gigantic mansion he had picked up in Alpine, New Jersey.
Hey guys, it's Kara the Vampire Slayer back with another exclusive house tour here on
Famous Entertainment.
Today, I thought I'd take you inside the former homes of everyone's favourite 90s
action star, Wesley Snipes.

About a decade into Wesley Snipes' career, right around the time he was making the gem
Demolition Man, he picked himself up his very first home, a lakefront estate located in
the town of Windermere.
Windermere is statistically a part of Orlando, Florida, but is home to a population of only
around 2,000 people.
Smack dab in the middle of that community is an upscale suburb intertwined with the
Isleworth Golf and Country Club, which is exactly where Snipes purchased a 1.16 acre
property on the 9,000 block of Deacon Court in 1993 for a little over $1 million.
Described by realtors as, one of those houses when the moment you open the door, all you
see is water.
This now 30-year-old estate has been extensively updated through the years.
That includes the addition of a fully loaded boat dock that takes full advantage of the
fact that the home is surrounded on all sides by three different bodies of water – Lake
Palmer, Lake Chase, and Lake Tibet.
Moving inside, the home includes 5 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, and spans over 8,400 square
feet of space.
The primary floor consists of a living room with an Italian marble fireplace, a family
room, games room, and what's referred to as a bonus room, which is basically just a
web bar with a private entrance that could potentially be turned into a guest room.
Upstairs, the master bedroom features a dual-sided fireplace and bathroom.
It also has a private balcony facing Lake Tibet to help make those early mornings all
the more enjoyable, with a view most people would almost definitely die for.
Snipes lived here for over a decade, taking full advantage of his three-car garage, large
summer kitchen, as well as a luxury pool and spa combo.
All while living next to the likes of Tiger Woods, Bubba Watson, and even Shaquille O'Neal.
Of course, once Snipes' issues with the IRS sprang up, something had to go help him
get out from under the red.
So he sold this property in foreclosure back in 2004.
Want to know how much he got for it?
Only $635,000, which is basically half of what he paid.
Only two short years later, this property would sell once again to a married couple
who would shell out nearly 2.7 million dollars for it.
I can only imagine how that news made Snipes feel when he heard it.
Most recently, the home was sold once again, this time for around 3.4 million dollars.
As gorgeous as Wesley's Florida home was, it's hard to say the same for his former
New Jersey mansion.
That isn't to say the place doesn't look nice, it certainly does from the outside.
But the thing is, that's all we've ever been able to see of it.
Located in the Jersey borough known as Alpine, which is part of Bergen County, Snipes and
his wife Nikki Park moved here just prior to his stint in prison.
Perhaps that's why we don't know too much about it, because my best guess is that Snipes
didn't get to spend much time here himself.
Almost immediately upon returning home from prison, Snipes sold this property off in 2014
for an estimated 4.125 million dollars.
Certainly a better deal than what he got for his former Florida residence, but without
knowing how much he paid for it in the first place, it's hard to figure out if this sale
really helped Snipes balance his books any better.
Of course, considering that all reports suggest Snipes is still battling the US government
over his tax payments, I don't think he made nearly enough to really make a dent.
Finally before we head out, since Snipes spent a little over 2 years in federal lockup, why
don't we take a quick look at the primary prison he called home.
Located in the Northwest Pennsylvania, about 90 miles south of Buffalo, New York, FCI McKean
is a medium security prison that holds a population of generally around 1,000 individuals.
The prison was first opened in 1989, and Wesley moved here right around 2010.
A short time before his sentence was finished, Snipes was transferred to a low security institution
located in the state of New York, with a reputation for being a club fed.
Club fed is a term used for facilities whose accommodations are seen as less severe than
your average prison.
Generally we're talking white collar criminals that wind up in these types of places, and
since the only crime Snipes ever committed was non-violent, well, he would fit right
into that category.
One former prisoner who spent some time at a club fed explained the experience as follows.
It's kind of like a junior college setting.
I don't want to call it a stress free environment, but it's a lot of hanging out with the other
inmates, you know?
Breakfast is at 7.15am, then there's work, duty, lunch, more work.
Roll call at 4pm, followed by mail, an hour long dinner, some free time, one last head
count, and then lights out at 11pm.
Prisoners lives here are totally regimented, and it's not exactly the boy scouts, but
it isn't a high security prison either, where things can sometimes go horribly, horribly
wrong.
After spending a few months at a New York club fed, Wesley Snipes was finally released
in 2013.
Where he's moved to from there is really anyone's guess.
I'm sure that after everything he's been through, Snipes is keeping an even lower profile
than usual, and simply looking forward to starting over again.
At least now, he's starting something of a career revival with projects like Coming
to America, and the recent Netflix series True Story.
So maybe Snipes can finally get out from under the government's thumb and buy himself a
dream home once again.
Alright guys, I think that's gonna bring this Wesley Snipes house tour to a close.

his former homes look like.
