Good morning from Bangkok and what seems like it could be the first day of the rainy season.
It's just started to spit but it really feels like any second now it's going to hammer down.
So we've been here a week now and originally we were going to leave today but we've loved
this city so much that we decided to stay an extra week and we're just moving hotels.
Thankfully we managed to book a hotel about a hundred yards up the road from our last one
so if it does hammer down with rain we're still safe.
So we are on the way to a cafe at the moment that's not too far from our hotel because we
need to try and upload a couple of videos and the hotel wi-fi is really fast at periods but
then it just drops so every time we've tried to upload a video we've got like 60% of the way,
40% sometimes even 80% I think once and it just drops out so we're hoping this cafe we're going
to we've read online should be pretty consistent and the internet should be reasonably fast
but let's take a look. And while we are working I just wanted to share an incredible resource with
you from the sponsors of today's video BetterHelp. I'm sure you've heard before and not once that
stress can have a horrible impact on your health and it kind of did on me. I don't know what's
going on inside but the things outside don't look so good. Thanks to BetterHelp everything
is actually getting better now but I just wanted to explain quickly what BetterHelp is. It's
basically an online platform with trained licensed therapists that are there to speak to you via
messages if you want to, by video call or you know just a regular call if you want and honestly
I think the hardest thing is, well it was for me anyway, to actually start doing it.
You can always make an excuse oh yeah I feel fine today I'm sure it will be all right I will handle
it by myself but it's not always a good option to go down that line and I just wanted to say
that if you feel anxious, depressed, stressed out, just down or that you feel like you can't
handle things by yourself that you need to or float onto someone or maybe you know someone
that needs their help please go through the link down below and just try using BetterHelp.
I honestly can't thank them enough. So the internet in the previous place was pretty slow
so we decided to come back in the hotel where we previously stayed because they have quite a good
seating area and we don't have one in our hotel and the internet seems to be better here as well
so do you want to hear something real funny? So we're sitting here we're pretty much done it's
just we're uploading and downloading files and this just takes forever. So explain to us how did
you find it? So I was looking at just there's something on YouTube now called super thanks
so I'm just reading about that and then I was just I just typed in revenue and then I was just
flicking through and then a video popped up like on Google called how much does Matt and Julia
YouTube channel make and I was like what? I thought maybe it was just like a I don't know just maybe
some sort of weird ad thing. I clicked on it and there's actually a video with like 35 views of
how much do we make on YouTube and it was a three minute video that went through all of how many
views we were getting in January and February when the channel was was probably at its like peak
it's not there at the moment but at that point it was saying how many daily views we've got
and how many monthly views we get and then he calculated our CPM and worked out eventually
that we're earning $11,000 a month through YouTube. I wish they were right. If only I mean that's
amazing someone's stealing our money someone somewhere in between YouTube giving it to us
and we're getting it someone's stealing a hell of a lot of percentage of our money
it's funny how does someone work that out?
We actually only forgot to eat today so we're back here
for some gyozas. Ready to stuff ourselves silly. I love the attitude. Thanks.
Take your children away from the screen because this is sex on a plate
I will wait till your one comes in. Smells so good as well. It does.
So this is apparently Tokyo curry. So I thought it was gonna be like a katsu curry and it looks
like a katsu curry but it's actually not. It smells quite different doesn't it? It does.
It's really really nice. So these ones are filled with chicken.
Lovely. What did you say lovely? Lovely. It's so well spiced and the sauce is like
the sauce is really subtle actually. I thought it was gonna like take over the whole thing but
it's really subtle. It's like a slightly meaty soy sauce. I can't work out what else is in here.
Okay I'm gonna try and bite it. So this is mentai cheese with cod roe and seafood inside.
Oh my god. Extremely delicious seafood dumplings with some soy sauce and cheese on top. I mean
what's not to like? Can you taste the cod roe as well? Is it quite subtle? Yeah.
We are out and on the way home now. We grabbed those beautiful things to take home with us as
well and we're gonna eat them when we get there. Let's go. This is tokoyaki which is a Japanese
snake. Nope. It's basically like a butter that's cooked in a pan and sometimes like there are
meats or seafood added to it and they've got bonito flakes on top of them and two different
sauces. Woah they're light. Do I just go full? I mean that looks like a hell of a challenge.
That's why I love you. That's the food. Well that is delicious. Surprise surprise.
They're incredibly light in texture and sort of melt in your mouth but then you get pieces of
like seafood which I think I had squid which was amazing itself on itself and so the butter
itself is quite gentle and you get the beautiful flavor of sauces which is like sweet sour salty
just a full mouthful. Yeah that is amazing. I expected them to be a bit heavier and chewy you
know. We are just on our way back to the hotel and we're coming from filming boat noodles which
were absolutely incredible. So yeah let's head back. A lot to do today. Honestly incredible
doesn't even cut it. They were the nicest thing the most incredible thing I think we've ever tasted.
Yeah I did think that you were like it doesn't count it wasn't the nicest thing.
Doesn't cut it. It was nice. We're back and yeah excuse I just touched the tissue
and I didn't expect myself to be sweaty but I am. So let's address my face. Basically what
happened to me is that in Mexico I had a stress reaction and that's what the body does whenever
I get stressed. It's like here's some acne girl. I feel like you need it. Yep and I was like okay it
wasn't actually getting bad at all and I was like I'm gonna sort it out and I started literally
caking my face in cream for probably about two months literally just before we left
Central America and I had an allergic reaction that basically spread terribly.
My favorite part that it didn't seem like it took a very long time to get
bad however it's taking forever like to heal. I can definitely see like we haven't filmed for
probably about three weeks because I just couldn't bring myself to and to be honest yeah I do realize
like it's not a big deal in the end of the day but sometimes it just it's easy to say it's not
a big deal when it's not you. Always the way and I do actually realize that deep down I know it
and I feel like if I'm not doing things that I love and enjoy because of that like
I'm almost like watching my life go past and that's something like it's just not me. I don't
do that but sometimes it just gets too much when I just can't help it. Some days you just feel really
bad about it but I'm basically now on antibiotics and I have been for probably five weeks but it
could take up to a month or more to see the results and I need to be on them for like three months
and now yeah that's that. I'm basically majority of the time on the videos I'm still like subconsciously
I don't really care if anyone like says anything about it or what like people think about it because
I think well if someone is concerned about like my skin that's definitely not a reflection on me
it's more of a like I hide it from myself because I feel like I constantly have to look at myself
in the mirror and I'm like that's enough. When you have to stare at yourself but when you edit
and the camera and stuff that's why like subconsciously I sometimes just pull it over
but mask doesn't help. In fact it kind of makes it worse because we're wearing it like outside
in 40 degrees heat but yeah I'm changing like throughout the day a few times but yeah that's that
I can see that it's uh I can't I didn't take pictures of anything like it got really bad at
some point but um now it's healing it's taking its time but I can definitely see that it's getting
better it's just majority of them are gone it's just uh what you call it um redness from them
being there the marks from them that's the one so yeah we're just transferring the files that
we just filmed because it was actually about 40 degrees and all our cameras were overheating like
so we had to switch between cameras and our phones and everything was overheating so now
we're just transferring from everything we've collected to all the cameras and phones we're just
transferring everything onto the hard drive straight away so it doesn't get confusing
and we'll see what time's like we may go and go to the gym ideally we would love to but see how
we're doing for time because we want to film one more video tonight. Right so we're just on
our way to film a video and we're walking past Lumpini Park and look at all these bad boys we've just spotted
oh my god look at the birds whoa that is crazy these two are just chowing down aren't they
no one's bothering them. Right we've got to go past. There's no way he's getting through there.
This one's probably burnt, do you reckon they've done it? Maybe people did it for him yeah
you're not getting through there mate
a little donut i guess maybe if we leave this area he might come towards that hole yeah
we were just saying how fascinating we find it how in our modern world in the middle of
a city a concrete jungle millions of people you have pockets of nature like that and
the way how animals are so resilient and they blend in with their environment they're in they
make do and thrive and yeah literally adopted it yeah and right they're thriving now i think we
read there's over 400 in Lumpini Park and that's i guess 400 accounted for so yeah however many
there are really who knows but incredible it really is so it's actually been a couple of days
since we spoke to you last time and that's been because it's been very wet here in Bangkok it
seems that the rainy season has well and truly arrived so the last couple of days there's been
nothing to show to be honest we've just been sitting inside working and just admiring the
rain i love tropical rain we both do there was a massive storm yesterday i just think it's so
fun to sit and watch from your balcony anyway so yeah this morning the weather brightened up a
little bit and we went to do a covid test an antigen test for the Philippines where we're
going next and the Philippines is actually the last country that we're going to in this part of
our travels where you still need a covid test so that's a welcome relief and then yeah we came back
we got a bit more work just had a shower and now we're gonna go out for another walk so let's go
it's supposed to be the best street food of Bangkok it looks very dead i think they might
have lied do you reckon i don't know why is it so quiet is it closing or something i don't know it's
it's pretty dead it feels like we missed the rush by about two years
um we're going back to the same uh supermarket where we've been before there's just one more
thing we really want to try well a few more things but one thing i can't remember
all right so we grabbed a couple of these things we've been eyeballing these ever since we've got
so this mall's not too far from us and we've been walking through here sometimes and yeah we've been
eyeballing these for quite a while so so we all packed up apparently april is supposed to be the
hottest month in thailand and it wasn't so bad today was actually really nice especially in the
we absolutely love bangkok and we have a lot of things that we were planning to film but just
didn't get the time to but we are flying away from this part of the world from bangkok so we
will be back here and we'll film everything then very excited love bangkok that's yeah
can't disagree with that just love it anyways i'm off it's nearly 10 what time is it uh yeah
10 10 it's 10 i need to ring my gran before she goes to bed oh first time ever we have the same
time as my gran amazing i'm gonna go and ring her and then we're gonna go to bed we have cab booked
and we're gonna go to the airport so thanks for watching this video and see you in the next one
