What's up guys, Cooper Flagg, 4th class of 2025. You're now watching Elevate.
What's up y'all, it's Coach J. Welcome to the next episode of Elevate.
I'm here with my man Cooper Flagg. Let's go.
We're just going to get your handle going a little bit here.
So we're going to go stationary with crossovers.
But I want you guys to really rock side to side getting those legs.
So let's throw it back and forth and then we'll add to it in just a second.
Alright, so I'll count you down. We'll go to the next.
Alright, here we go. Stop, Cooper. There we go. Eyes are up. Good.
Wide, wide, wide. Good. There we go.
So a lot of the basketball world didn't know about you before kind of this summer or recently, right?
You've jumped on the scene really quick.
So tell us about just your first basketball experience or how you got into basketball.
I mean, my first basketball experience, I couldn't really.
Just growing up with the ball always in my hands.
My mom was a D1 player at Maine.
So just having the ball in my hands as much as I could at a young age.
Just being surrounded by the game pretty much.
I love it. So you talked about your mom a little bit. Tell us about your family.
You guys seem to have a family of the Hoopers, your brother, your mom.
Tell us about your family.
Yeah, so my twin brother Ace and my other brother Hunter.
We were on the same basketball team this last year.
We won the state championship in Maine.
And then my mom, like I said, she's a D1 Hooper.
And then my dad was a community college basketball player as well.
Love it. Love it. Family of Hoopers. Good stuff.
Alright, let's get back in.
So we're going to work on finishes from the dunker.
So the first one we're going to work on is I'm going to drive from there.
Okay, I'm going to hit you. We pretend that your defender steps up to help.
We're going to meet it with a big step here.
So we're going to take a big step, boom, and jump, elevate on this side.
And we're going to finish on the other side with our right.
Load into it. Load into it. Nice. Good.
Big step. Nice. Okay.
So I don't know a whole lot about Maine.
Can you tell me a few things about Maine?
Maybe the top three things about the state.
Like, let us know about Maine.
I mean, I wouldn't be able to list the top three things about Maine without lobster.
Okay, boom.
The Maine things.
What's the Maine things?
I'd say just, like, it has a lot of things.
Like, whatever you like to do, you can pretty much do anything in Maine.
Basketball, you got any sports because there's seasons for everything.
Alright.
You got hunting, fishing.
Like, you can do anything that you want to do.
Outdoor sports, sports, lobsters.
What else we got?
Something that you like about Maine.
I'd say, like, the competitiveness and, like, the hoopers because, I mean,
a lot of people don't really know, but we got a lot of good basketball players in Maine.
People just don't really know about it.
You're about to go to Mount Verge.
You'll be at Mount Verge for the season.
What made you think about that?
How'd that come up?
I mean, I'd say it was really just an opportunity to just get pushed more than I was at my old high school,
just being in a community that everyone is trying to be the most successful that they can be.
We were looking at some prep schools, and then we took that visit to Mount Verge and watched them play,
and it was clear that they just wanted to be the best versions of themselves.
Alright, let's go get a little better too.
Yes, sir.
Alright.
Attack, attack, attack.
Good.
Yes, sir.
Here we go.
Right.
Balance, base.
Good.
There we go.
Make shots.
Left, left.
Good.
Nice.
Good.
Nice.
Good.
Nice.
Good job.
Alright.
You got to start one, bench one, cut one.
Ready?
Jordan.
Kobe.
LeBron.
Start Jordan.
Bench LeBron.
Cut Kobe.
Paolo.
Chet.
Jabari.
Start Chet.
Bench Paolo.
Cut Jabari.
Now that we're talking about players, who do you think you compare to that's been in the NBA before or is in the NBA?
Who have you heard or who do you like to watch or think about as yourself?
I'd say my favorite player to watch really is Kevin Durant.
Just watching the way he gets his shot off and shot creation and stuff like that.
He's so long and I see that in myself.
Right.
Alright.
Hey, let's roll with KD.
Alright.
Let's go KD.
Yes, sir.
See, it doesn't matter.
I'm going to let you go first because you're going to miss.
I'm not going to miss this.
Alright.
Ready?
Go.
He's going to miss it.
Oh, he made it.
Oh, he missed it.
I got my lefty.
I'm going to pull ups.
That's two.
Do I have to get outside?
Hey.
You better not miss.
Don't miss it.
You got to float her.
Oh, my God.
Get in for me.
Come on.
Yes.
How did that go?
Game.
Alright, Coop.
If you could ask an NBA coach any question right now, what would it be?
Probably something along the lines of like what is one thing that every young kid needs
just to get to the next level.
Okay.
One thing on court?
Yeah.
Do you think?
Okay.
Alright.
Now, I got a harder question for you.
Maybe harder.
Maybe easier.
I don't know.
Have you heard of a debit card?
I heard of a what?
A debit card.
Yeah.
Have you heard of a credit card?
Yeah.
Okay.
Can you explain to me what the difference like why you use one or what's the difference
between a debit card and a credit card?
A debit card is like money you have in your bank account.
So, it's like your money.
And then a credit card is like, it's pretty much like using credits.
That's 100% right.
So, a debit, you have an account.
I just got one.
And the card takes out of your debit account.
It debits down, right?
Mm-hmm.
A credit card is somebody, a bank saying, I'm going to give you money.
Pay it off.
But you got to pay it off with interest, which means more than what you're taking.
Mm-hmm.
Very good.
Just wanted to make sure you knew that.
Good job.
I just got myself a debit card.
That's how I'm doing.
I love it.
All right, it's your boy Cooper Flagg here, signing out of Elevate.
We just got better, so.
All right, Coach, give me one.
Hey!
