No, no, I'll dial it now.
That's it, I'm dialing it.
Hello.
Umet is sleeping.
Yes, hello.
Welcome back to sunny Sochi.
We just got back after three weeks
going and filming around Russia
and my gran made us some food.
She made us soup.
And stuffed pancake scraps, whatever they are,
with cottage cheese.
Good day.
We actually lost us for a day.
Well, a couple of days, I guess.
My sister went to Minsk while we were away.
She went to Minsk for a week.
So she was coming back the same day as us,
but in the evening.
So I spent the whole day cooking and baking.
And I made a sticky toffee pudding.
And this is the first time everyone tried it
and everyone loved it and I was so shocked.
They absolutely loved it.
Anyway.
So yesterday we've been working,
went for a walk,
but now we're actually finishing the video with Ma.
And my sister is heading out into the city center
because she needs to do a PCR test.
And we're just going to do a lot of things at home
because the weather is quite grim, to be honest.
It hasn't stopped raining all day yesterday.
And today it's about 12 now
and it's really dark inside.
So we had to turn our light on.
And we actually made a cream for cake.
We're going to make cake with my sister later on.
And yeah, there's quite a bit we want to get done.
It's Sunday, so everyone's home.
Brilliant.
Now I'm going to go and finish that video.
So a bit of the behind the scenes.
When we record a lot of our videos,
we put voiceovers in as well.
And this is usually what we do to record them.
One of us holds the camera.
The other one reads the notes that we've got here.
So yeah, let's get on with it.
We try and do it outside because...
Obviously because we're moving a lot.
We can't have a studio with a proper mic and stuff.
So we're doing our best as well as we can.
But quite often when you do it inside,
it sounds really tinny.
The echo off the walls, I think.
Yeah, really.
Majority of the time.
You can do it under the cover and stuff,
but then it gets hoarse.
We find it easier just to go out onto a balcony
or onto the street and try and record like that.
Famous last words.
Central Asia.
One of the most beautiful and unique regions on Earth.
Also, when we arrived here,
the weather was pretty nice.
It was very clear.
And I wanted to show you the mountains,
but you can really see them so well.
And there's snow on top.
And they're so beautiful.
Hopefully, it will be clear one day soon.
So we'll be able to show you.
But it's just so gorgeous.
That's one of the most beautiful things about Sochi in general.
Especially on this balcony where we are here,
you can see those mountains on the left.
And to the right over there,
it's a bit blocked by the buildings,
but you can see the sea just there.
So you've got the Black Sea and the mountains that side.
Stunning.
And the trees.
All the different colours.
Let's go in.
It's a really good content.
Subscribe and all that.
So we'd actually finished recording the entire voiceover for the video.
We put it in the computer.
We're listening to it.
And the sound just wasn't good enough.
It was really, really bad.
The sounds of the traffic was reflecting up onto the balcony.
And it just sounded like there was a constant background noise.
So we ended up coming into the lounge,
grabbing a blanket off the bed,
putting it over our heads and recording it like that.
That's something that we've done a few times now,
and it seems to work.
It muffles out any of the echo
and stops any outside sounds from getting through.
So we hide under a cover
and sit in front of each other recording like that.
Hopefully that works.
Better?
I think so.
Central Asia.
Much better.
I haven't actually moved much from this space today,
apart from I made these buns.
They're apple buns.
I like spiced.
And also, I just needed to use up the salty caramel I made for Toff Pudding.
So I thought I'd make them.
So we're having a bit of a...
The reason we haven't moved today is because we're having a bit of one of those days where
it just feels like you've got so much to do.
And a lot of days, I think it feels like, you know,
you've got to do this, this, and this.
And X, Y, Z can wait until the day after.
Today, I don't know why, it just feels like one of those days where
there's like 20 things that need to be done now.
It's not the case, I'm sure.
It's just in our heads.
But yeah, that's why we've sort of sat here all day.
I think we just may be overtired, yeah.
Yeah, because we've been going non-stop on the road
and the majority of the time we have to do everything at the same time on the road.
But just sometimes we just have a build-up of...
----.
The hardest thing is to figure out how to prioritise things.
Yeah, exactly.
And organise it, because that's the key, I think.
Doing everything really.
Exactly.
And on that note, let's show you the lovely Sochi sunset.
Brilliant. About two hours too early.
It's close.
Mountains look better today.
Oh, my sister made me exercise yesterday.
Jesus Christ.
Is it hurting? You never told me.
So much.
She is super fit.
I'm a piece of ----.
I'm not fit at all.
Like, we walk a lot, but that's it.
I don't do anything else.
And oh, my God.
She was...
You went for a shower and she was pissing herself laughing.
Because I wouldn't stop.
I'm probably the worst person to exercise with.
Because I just keep talking ---- and she kept laughing.
And then, because we were like...
There was a big sofa in the middle of us.
And my brother was sitting on the sofa.
And she kept asking him,
is she doing anything?
Or is she just laying down there?
Is she doing something?
I wasn't half the time.
Again, we keep saying this all the time,
but this is still Russia.
And we're November the 29th today.
In the middle of winter.
Yeah, and it's not cold at all, is it?
It's a bit of a breeze.
But it's going to be, what?
16, 17 degrees today?
Unbelievable.
It's unfathomable.
Good day.
And the weather is wonderful.
So today,
apparently,
the water is going to be turned off
in the whole city.
That's why
we have buckets
full of water
everywhere.
The bathroom, everywhere.
The kitchen.
And they promised to...
They promised.
They said they're going to turn it off
from 9 in the morning till 7
in the morning
tomorrow.
And it's nearly 12.
And we had the water...
It's just turned off.
I was kind of hoping they're not going to do it
because my sister told me
that they've done it a few times previously.
They told them that they're going to switch it off.
But yeah, the water.
We have no water today.
Well, good we had time to have tea and stuff.
Morning.
So the weather's not really been on our side
since we've got back to Sochi.
We were due to go out to film today,
but as you can see,
it's not that great.
So we are spending another day
working on the computers
and then later this week,
we're going to be spending
probably three or four days solid
just going out
and doing as much filming as we can
when the weather improves just slightly.
I mean, what do we expect?
It's December now, so...
It is what it is.
But yeah, today's another day on the computers.
And we're just going to the shop now
because Julia's Gran needs to try a couple of coats
and we need to grab some bits for dinner.
Let's go have a look.
So we're heading to a place called Wild Berries,
which is basically like the Russian Amazon.
There's two.
There's Wild Berries
and another one called Azon.
The big difference being is that
as opposed to home delivery
like we have with Amazon,
Wild Berries and Azon
deliver to these collection points
that are everywhere around every city,
just like this one here.
And you go on and you can try your stuff
and then give it back if you don't like it.
So in the end, Julia's Gran didn't like the coats.
So she just returned them there
and then to the cashier
who then sorts out the rest
in terms of the return.
And you can order another one
if you want there and then
or you just go back on the app
and reorder it for the next day.
So yeah, the water's obviously off.
We all need to wash our hands.
Hello.
Last night we got home
and basically ended up working all evening.
And then, well, for a couple of hours
we just switched everything off
and played some cards
with our brother and sister
and spent some time with them.
And actually it was my sister's birthday
on the 1st of December.
She turned 17.
And today we're going to have,
it's Saturday,
so we're going to have a bit of a
celebration-ish with family.
And we're going to make a salad
that everyone loves.
Everyone in Russia,
everything is,
dishes like that are called salads.
But I don't know what they are
because if I called that a salad
you wouldn't get that, would you?
No, when you say salad
straight away you think of a Caesar
or something with lettuce.
But yeah, I'm already used to that now
that that's a salad
in Russia.
So yeah, it's like,
I mean there is grapes in there.
There are some vegetables and stuff, yeah.
Is there vegetables in this one?
Actually, no.
There's a bit of fruit.
So I think it quantifies as a salad.
There's literally chicken
that's cooked in curry.
What else is there?
Cheese, egg, grapes.
A ---- ton of mayonnaise.
Mayonnaise, I put a lot less.
But naturally there is a lot of mayonnaise.
I bought light one.
They use less.
And what else is there?
Oh, walnuts.
Yeah, that's the only,
everyone loves it.
That's the only thing I don't like.
And what else did I want to say?
So yeah, we're just waiting for my sister.
We made cake yesterday
and we're just going to finish carrot cake
when she comes home from studies.
My brother is already home from college.
And what else did I want to say?
Oh yeah, this morning we went to the shop
and done washing up and stuff
and I just wanted to show you something.
So, for ages
I really wanted to draw something.
Like, I don't know if you've seen,
hang on, just grab the bits.
My grand hair.
So, for ages
I've seen these videos on YouTube.
I don't know if you've ever seen them.
They're basically people
making beautiful things with
acrylic paints, I think they're called.
It's really relaxing to watch it
and I watched it quite a bit at some point
and I really wanted to
do the same
and I told my sister about it
and she bought all the paints and stuff for my birthday.
So,
my very first painting.
I love autumn.
It's autumn.
I love autumn.
So, it doesn't count you, my husband.
And I love birch tree.
Is it called birch tree?
Birch, yeah.
Love birch.
And my very second painting.
I'm gonna make
an teaser of them.
You can get them.
Yeah, my very third
painting is gonna come
up soon. I'm gonna make something else.
And Matt is doing
while we're cooking
and stuff. What are you doing?
So, I'm working out
every month we work out our expenses, how much
we've spent and also how much we've
earned from YouTube and
other sources like Patreon
and up until now we've been
sending this out
to people on our email list but
from now on we're going to be
sending this out for our Patreons
to look at and to see.
So, yeah, if you're interested in
how we're earning money online, how we're
trying to fund our travels and then
also how much we're spending by
travelling and in what areas in particular
i.e. food, accommodation
then yeah, have a look on our Patreon
and it'll all be there.
The weather today is beautiful.
You can see the mountains really well.
Let's go look at the mountains.
It's been snowing.
Can you see that all over there?
So beautiful.
We ordered this to have dinner.
Russian sushi
and a pizza.
They're Russian sushi
because I think if any Japanese person
would've seen them
would've fainted
because, oh, they put
all sorts of things in there but they're delicious
they're not probably proper
sushi. There is some fish there so
that's that and
there is a cake.
Red velvet and there is a
carrot cake in the fridge
that my sister loves.
Hello. We left you for a good few
days. From the news
we basically came back from Krasnodar
last night with my brother and sister.
We went there for a couple nights
which you will see at some point.
I'm not exactly sure when
and we completely forgot to mention
our camera. We had a little Osmo
so we have our main one, main camera
and we have a little one which is obviously
you can't film all the time with a
big one like there is a time and a place
we really need the small one and it
broke basically. Just before we
had to leave for this big
trip we had
Grandma, do you need help?
Basically just before we had
to go on this
trip filming around the Caucasus
it broke
and we had to buy a new one.
So we bought a new little camera
and
we are finishing a big
video. Matt's finishing
a big video while I'm cooking.
He will cook with me in a second
but yeah that video has taken us quite
a while which is nice to finish it.
It should be hopefully a really good one.
There is a lot of information.
It's taken us so much time to
produce it but
we really enjoyed it so hopefully
you will enjoy it too.
Always
a bonus.
It would be nice
if we just liked our videos and no one else did.
That would be sad.
Who knows? Maybe that's the case.
I mean I know our mum
and your
sister. We make them watch
it.
Anyway
from news
what else to tell you? While we've been
off not filming these daily videos
we've basically been filming some videos with my uncle
and auntie. Got drunk with my uncle
the other day. That was fun.
And this morning
we've just been doing lots of things at home.
Like washing up and stuff.
I went for a walk with my gran. She went
to shop.
And that's it. Let's go and cook.
I think I told you everything.
If I forget something I'll tell you
later but for now
let's go and cook.
Oh and I pierced my ear.
And I may get another
one done. On my ears as well.
I may be having
a midlife crisis
at 26.
No I just wanted
to get them done for a very long time and I finally
have the balls to do it.
Let's go and get my brother.
I'm basically making meatballs.
There is...
Why did you say that so southern?
I'm basically making
meatballs.
Did I?
I've blitzed some cabbage, carrots,
onion. There is a bit of garlic.
There's turkey mince.
Couple of eggs, salt
and a lot of spices.
Spices? That was on purpose.
That one was.
So I'm just going to mash
it all in together.
And then
I'm going to form
a little...
What's
supposed to happen?
Form it all together
and bake them.
Meatballs are done. We just put them away already.
And I made a
vegetable and chicken
ragu. That's what I
usually make. Just loads of different
vegetables and chicken thighs
and spices and stuff.
And
I made chocolate cake because I had
some sour cream that was...
Going off?
I thought you'd just gone to sleep.
I thought so too.
She just faded off.
I made these as well.
Blue cherries.
Sour cream as well.
Now I'm going to go and
smash everything up
in the house. Probably. Exercise
with my sister.
Good afternoon. So we spent most of the
morning just sitting in front of the computers working
and we got to the point where we needed
to get some fresh air. So we're
heading out and we're going to head into the centre
to perform the difficult task
of trying to buy some persimmon.
It's exciting stuff.
Come along with us.
I didn't need to duck. It was only for the camera effect.
She basically
ducked before the pole.
So she ducked.
And she went under it. Just normal.
Do you know what I mean?
So funny.
So Sochi is actually one of the longest cities
on earth. It's really long
and thin and split into different areas.
You have Sochi centre
and then you have Adler which is further south
which is where we are. And we're in a part
of Adler called Chaisovkhoz
which is again on the edge
of Adler. So to walk into Adler centre
is about an hour from here.
It's still not cold today at all
by any stretch. But it's
definitely cooled off. It's been sort of
18-19 degrees
and for December that is crazy.
But today is maybe 10
11. So yeah.
It's a lot fresher. It's a lot nicer to walk in
to be honest.
Hello.
Task complete.
This is persimmon.
Which is really popular over here.
And there are all kinds of different types
and shapes of this. I've only seen
them that colour. I haven't seen them
any other colour. And I have seen them
being sold in the UK
in any supermarkets. But
they are usually a lot smaller
and flat.
Here like in southern Russia they literally grow on the trees
don't they? In people's gardens. It's crazy.
Especially like when we go
anywhere on the train around this
area and you see literally trees
covered in them. And this time
the leaves have fallen haven't they?
So you just see all these
persimmon just hanging on the trees.
They're so beautiful.
But I never understand how can you not
pick them. But
there you go.
So let me show you
what it looks like.
Some of them usually they have
pips inside. Sometimes they don't.
This one literally has got like one.
And
that's that.
It is amazing. I love them.
I can't really
describe the flavour.
Because it doesn't taste like anything else
to me. It's incredibly
soft inside.
It's not crunchy.
It's like it hasn't got a bite
to it. The skin. It's quite
soft. Especially when they're really ripe.
They go really soft. However if they're
underripe they are
very. They don't give you a very
nice feel in your mouth.
When you try to mix any underripe vegetables.
When we were on the train in Dagestan
there was
two people that were sitting. I don't know if we said.
They were sitting on the other side like
you have the four seats and then you have the two seats
in the aisle. And they were like
hey guys these are these
persimmon are for the young guys like you.
And they gave us these two persimmon.
And we literally nearly broke our tooth.
Yeah I bit into it.
Jesus.
I don't know if you've ever tried
underripe fruit. Just the same thing.
Just your mouth goes like. Like an underripe.
The texture is actually similar to an underripe pear.
Like it's really. It like breaks up
in your mouth and it's dry.
Crunchy.
But that's not underripe though.
It's beautiful. It's really sweet.
It's really soft.
My granny is watching
hockey and she is commentating
I think. The thing is just before I got the camera
I was just speaking to her about the game. And I think she still
thinks I'm standing there. She's still talking.
So I'm going to go back in.
Okay.
That's persimmon for you.
And we're going to go
and speak to my gran. And we're going to
leave you here. Thanks for watching this video.
And see you in the next one.
