Hello my name is John and in this video I'm going to give you some tips if you want to visit Palestine
Palestine as you know is officially considered occupied territories of Israel
In what is now known as the West Bank the eastern part and Gaza the western area
It is a place that can be visited without any problems
Mainly the area of the West Bank Gaza you can't because there's a conflict there
So they're at war basically
People often think it's a dangerous area or that something might happen to you if you visit Palestine
What cannot be visited
I was there a few weeks ago and there's no problem at all
I went to Israel from Jordan crossing the border directly
When I crossed the border you are already in the West Bank
You can stay right there and visit whatever you want
Then go to Israel or come back or whatever you want
But consider that for all practical purposes it's as if you were in Israel
because they control it you will see that there are military personnel in all areas
And yet simply that life is more Arab than what can be found in Israel itself
Where the westernmost part that can be Tel Aviv is already
More Jewish-Orthodox than Jerusalem can be
But life is like being for example in the eastern part of Jerusalem
Where is the old city and all the Arab markets
well it's exactly the same
To visit Palestine for example if you are in Jerusalem and want to cross into Palestine
You have many options you can walk you can take your own car
You can go on a tour on excursions by bus you have a multitude of options
Hey for example my choice was I was staying in a hostel
And I was going to take a bus which simply takes people to Bethlehem
And from there you move as you wish
Then my idea was to take a bus to Bethlehem and then take a taxi or whatever there
Take me to different places in Palestine
But from the hostel I told the hostel's receptionist where I was in Jerusalem
That he was Arab and he had a friend who told me that he could take me to those places
We set a price for the whole day and then it was perfect for me
He picked me up at the hotel itself and took me to different places
To cross Palestine in our case there was no type of control
We could just pass by on the road
And were in the area of Hebron Bethlehem you can also visit Ramallah
which is the capital of Palestine the administrative capital
Well I'm not getting into political stuff I'm not taking a position or saying anything
For the Palestinians for example their actual capital is Jerusalem
That's why there is also a conflict with the Israelis etc
But anyway since it's the part that is occupied by the Israelis
Well right now the administrative capital is in Ramallah
But anyway let's forget all this and go visit it
We started in Hebron which is surely the most tense city in this entire area
because it is a place where there is an Israeli colony within the city itself
They are at a higher level than the Arabs
Then when they are at a higher level there are sometimes conflicts between them
they throw stones at each other they throw chairs at each other
There is a main market which is the coolest thing about Hebron
And that's where you see the entire Palestinian life
I loved it because I was the only tourist there
Then I loved it because all the
life I saw was real life the life they live every day
It's not like other places where for example if you go to the old city of Jerusalem
It's very good you learn a lot it's very interesting
But 95% of the people there are tourists
Then well for me I lose a bit of the essence
But in Hebron I loved it precisely because of that
because people were surprised to see me they asked me a lot
And on top of that the people seemed really friendly
In general all the Arabs I met there were very friendly
They were inviting me giving me food and on top of that they were in Ramadan
So they couldn't eat yet they still offered me food for free
They invited me to their stores to their homes
in general a great atmosphere and I had a really good time
And it seemed really interesting to me
and you'll see that above the market there are like some nets
I already showed it to you in the blogs
and that's why because the Israelis are at a higher level
And there are conflicts because often they throw furniture they throw stones
So the networks are there to stop
all that although occasionally they throw bleach and hot water at them
For that reason since the networks do little
The only moment of tension that occurred
It was then that I wanted to visit a mosque
one that can be accessed without any problem
but there's like a control there's like some barriers
And there are Israeli soldiers who are like behind a fence
and sometimes for example I was with the guy I was dating
They made him lift his shirt to check that
he wasn' t carrying any explosives and nothing strange on him
They asked me why I was carrying the camera and stuff
well I told them I was from Spain
He was just traveling and visiting the area
and they said okay no problem
but that he couldn't enter that he couldn't record inside the mosque etc
But it was the only time that was somewhat tense
especially the fact of seeing how my partner was
They made her lift up her shirt I don't
know That was the only time I saw something kind of weird
Well there was another moment when an Arab boy came
And he tried to kiss me it was like he threw himself at me
But anyway it didn't go further just the part and that's it
But anyway I mean aside from that everything else was
great and the people were super nice
The truth is that I loved it and I would have liked to stay longer
When I return in the future because I know I will return
I will spend the night in the West Bank because there is
no problem there are a lot of hotels and hostels
No they are not cheap because you might
think oh well here it will be much more economical
It's not much more economical that is
It is a bit cheaper than in Jerusalem
But in general hotels and hostels are also quite expensive
But I will definitely stay there next time
And in fact if I can stay with an Arab family
or with people with whom I can experience
What life is like there
well for me it will be a much more intense experience
And there we ended up in Bethlehem
which is a much more touristy place
especially for Christians because there as you know is where
Jesus Christ was born
The Church of the Nativity which is built o
From the cave where Jesus
was born there is a star on the floor
Where people kneel to kiss it and such
then you can visit all of that without any problems
Whatever your religion is or
whether you are an atheist like me
but that's no problem
and in general Bethlehem is worth visiting
because that part is Christian
but then everything that is the city is Arab
so it's a bit of a contrast
From the various religions of Muslims and Christians
And there you can see everything that the wall
is which divides the part of Palestine from Israel
A giant wall covered with countless graffiti it's
definitely worth visiting
there are graffiti by Banksy
Even there is a hotel dedicated to Banksy
of which he was there and gave them permission
To use their images etc
And in the murals you will see a lot of graffiti
criticizing the conflict that exists
criticizing the West criticizing the Israelis
criticizing Trump the
president of the United States
Then it's very interesting because it's something
super different from what
you'll see anywhere else
This type of conflict
It's worth it because you also learn a lot
And the more you know about this type of situations that
exist in the world the more
nutritious it is for everyone
So nothing else
my recommendation is that you visit Palestine move around
The best thing is
to hire a taxi that takes you from
point to point because otherwise it can be a bit complicated
Near the border with Jordan I recommend you visit Jericho which is also a very
important historical site
There is a small monastery against the mountain which
is very beautiful Then you
have several places to visit
Then a couple of days is fine to visit Palestine
if you only have one day also
Then you can see the most important things as I did
but in general that
That at the security level
you won't have any problem
and to move around a taxi is best because the buses
I'm going to waste a lot of time and it will probably be quite complicated to find out which bus is
the one I'm interested in and so on
And a taxi isn't that expensive and is worth it
So nothing else that's it
