What's good, everybody, and welcome back to my channel, Smokin' and Grillin' with me, A.B.
And as you can see, I got a guest, right?
Listen, they all the way out here from Texas, you know, come out here.
Look, I'm not going to over talk it.
I say all kind of stuff. You see her here.
I'm going to let her introduce herself, but I'm going to let you know she's a child star.
You may have seen me on the Today Show back in 2019,
but right now I'm working on YouTube videos for all of you guys.
So today we're going to make a really fun cake for Halloween.
And you guys been following me for a minute.
You know, I love this time of the year.
And I know my channel name is called Smokin' and Grillin',
but check it out, I like to bake, too.
I want to do something for Halloween.
She saw what I did last year.
She said, hey, that's a monstrosity.
Let's go ahead and just do it the right way.
Hey, so I'm going to show you exactly how to do it.
All right. And listen, you guys already seen it.
So, you know, we make it what we're making.
We're going to make a cake that looks like an eyeball,
but we're going to make it really scary and Halloween filled just for A.B.
OK, you know what? That's what's up.
With that, I feel like I'm rambling and we about to get it, folks.
Now, we went ahead and, you know, made our own cake,
which is a red velvet cake, right?
And these ingredients that you see right here,
you can look down in the description box below this video
and you can get the measurements and all of the ingredients there.
I'm going to let her take over,
but I'm going to show you what we're going to do is because, listen,
for the sake of argument or whatever, we're going to make our red velvet cake.
This is also something that you can use a cake box for.
I have spent many years just switching up cake boxes and they turn out great.
So if you don't want to make this recipe full out,
a cake box is your next best friend.
Hey, and speaking of that, listen, if you guys want to know
and want to make this exact cake that we're going to make,
we're going to do that behind the scenes right now.
But you guys can look in the description box below,
you know, to have the measurements and the ingredients in there
along with the instructions.
Hey, with that being said, I'm going to go ahead and follow your lead.
Let's get started.
Now, as you can see, look, it's super simple to make.
Put your ingredients in, mix them up and just follow the video.
You know, that little white part
that's right there that you bought to come up on in just one second.
My grandma would have a fit.
We had that and left that in there.
Well, just for grandma, we'll take it out
because I don't want to make any grandma mad.
You know what, Charlie Anne?
I got to ask you, why do you push it on the edge like that?
Like when I make a cake, I never do that.
Yeah. So I take any of my batter and just push it up on the sides of my pans
just so that it rises more evenly.
So when it's in the oven, it will rise.
If you've ever like accidentally tipped your cake, it rises up on that side.
So if you do it all the way around, it'll rise up on the sides first
and then the middle.
So you don't have much of a dome to cut off at the end.
Nice. Pro tip.
Now that we bring in the oven up to temp.
Now what's next?
We are going to move on to our cream cheese buttercream.
Just so you know that I'm an expert with that right there.
Not making it.
I won't let you do it.
No, no, no. Not making it, but tasting it.
Me too. It's my favorite.
All right. Let's go.
All right.
My cakes, our cakes, are out of the oven.
So I'm going to stick these in the fridge just to cool down so that they.
Hey, but wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
We got to look at this, because when you gave me that pro tip,
I'm looking at it right now.
That's what I'm talking about.
I can see just what you're talking about.
It's pretty much level.
So we won't have to cut off a bunch of cake,
although we would have a good snack,
but we won't have to cut off a lot of cake to level this off.
Don't worry. I got a little ice cream in there.
So whatever we cut off, we can eat that.
Go ahead and do your thing.
And then meanwhile, I'm going to set up and we're going to make the glass.
OK.
Don't it say something on there?
It does.
What does it say?
Charlie and Heavenly Cakes, right on the end.
Our cakes are out of the refrigerator,
and I have gone ahead and just stacked my round one on top of my eight inch cake.
I carved around the sides just to take off that square edge of the eight inch cake
so that it'll be round like an eye.
So to start, I am going to put a little bit of our cream cheese butter
Why?
So I put this here so that when I put my first layer of cake,
I can stick it down and it won't go anywhere.
And then I am just going to fill this layer.
So then I'll take my top tier.
Got it.
And put it down and it sticks.
At least I learned fast.
You do learn fast.
And then I'll take just a little bit more and do a crumb coat.
So it's just a really thin layer.
Slow down, slow down.
You're going to do a what?
So I call it a crumb coat.
Some people call it like a dirty ice,
but it's just a really thin layer of buttercream.
So see, you can see through to the cake.
And I'm going to do this all the way around my cake.
And then I'll stick this in the fridge and it'll harden up
so that when I put my final coat,
you won't see any of the crumbs that you can see through this cover.
So my cake, our cake just came out of the refrigerator
and I can do my final coat of our cream cheese buttercream.
And this layer can be much thicker so that you won't see through it.
And then I'll go back.
I have some blue and black food coloring already
in some little bowls that I've just gone ahead and put in my bowl.
And then I'm going to scoop out just a little bit of our cream cheese buttercream.
Hey, I thought you said that I was going to be able to have a little bit
of that for myself.
I got people that have been following me for a minute.
Know that my granny used to leave some in the bowl for me.
I'll leave some in the bowl for you.
All right. Thank you. Thank you.
Our colors are completely mixed.
And then I'll give you a piping bag and I'll take one, too.
And then once it's in our piping bag,
we push it down and we'll pipe it out.
OK, our cake is iced and out of the refrigerator.
You can see it's not perfect.
It's going to be covered in like bloody glass and stuff later.
So it's OK.
But I am going to start with the blue.
You know, I just want everybody to look at this and just think,
you can do this with your family, your loved ones, your friends, whoever.
You're talking about having just some fun in the kitchen.
This is where it's at right here.
Of course. Super easy.
The most fun with more people.
So now that I've piped it on, I just have an offset spatula.
Just the fact that you're good at your craft.
You just told me what the name of that spatula was and offset.
And I'm looking at what you do for you to be 15 years old and doing this.
This is inspiring for all. Thank you.
And then I'll go back with a little bit of black
and do the same thing, just smaller.
We have just some store bought red.
It's actually glittery.
Just edible gel. Some dazzle.
Yeah. We got to put a little glitter in there.
We're not putting sprinkles or anything on it.
But I have store bought this, but you can do the same thing
we did with our buttercream and just color it red also.
Like that, right?
Oh, perfect.
You do the honors.
OK, I am just going to take our sugar and I will dip some of it
in our blood
and then stick it.
Interesting.
Wherever I want into the cake.
What do you think, Chip?
You're doing the honors.
Put it right here.
And I want to stick it through into the cake.
You might need a little knife for some of these pieces.
And then I'll take just a little bit of blood
and put it right at the base of where it goes into my eye.
This is the scary part.
Down here and down our eye.
That's a beautiful cake.
Yeah, this is normally when I would say this cake turned out really cute,
but it looks pretty scary to me.
So they were job well done.
Scary.
And I'm not going to lie.
When you first put that piece of glass in there,
which is, you know how you put it in there, right?
But I'm going to turn this around so everybody can look at it.
Look at the inside of the eyeball.
Look at that right there.
You couldn't have done it no better than that.
One thing I like about you, Charlie, and you get right in.
Let's go ahead and get us a fork.
I'm going to get something like right up here.
Oh, man, it's nice and moist.
Ready? Cheers.
This is fire.
That is good.
You know what? I'm going to cut myself a slice.
I don't want to go back in there and double dip.
You know what I mean?
You can finish that off.
I don't really know what to say.
I don't want to over talk and talk nothing.
All I can tell you is this right here is fire.
Don't forget, if you guys want to know how to make this red velvet cake,
